Reggie Boi: damn, mami. Talkin rough to me like dat gets me hawd.
Michaela was feeling a mix of things about today… She was anxious but excited for everyone to come over for a small get together. She hadn’t planned on it being this way, since the whole thing was pretty much spur of the moment. But she didn’t mind at all. If anything, it was better than what she had originally planned. She got her apartment ready for Riley, Mason, and Heyward to come over; tidying up her family room, kitchen, and especially out in the backyard where she had started barbecuing for them to come over. She had never met her brother’s fiancé before, and aside from a few talks on Twitter and what Mason had told her; they were basically strangers. But she seemed nice enough and Michaela was ready to meet her. She went outside to check on the food, leaving the door open as she waited for her guests to show.-- ❤ shelby of shinetag: everybody | words: enough | outfit: this | notes: shitty start
fooooood!"I think I'm gonna eat everything in sight today. I haven't had a big meal in the longest," Mason voiced as he looked out the window of Riley's car. They were en route to Michaela's house for a cookout and he was more than ready to eat. He couldn't drive because of the vision in his right eye, so it seemed as if he were riding in Riley's car more and more these days. If anything, he was ready to meet this Heyward guy that had his sister so focused on him. If he was a bad guy, Mason would know right away, seeing that he had a gift of telling what kind of person someone was. "Hopefully my sister will like you..." he added, drumming his fingers across his leg. The rest of the ride, he gave Riley instructions on how to get to Mickey's house.Soon, his sister's house came into view and they were parked before they both got out. Mason held a bag of Dorito's in his hand that he had brought, seeing that he couldn't cook to save his life. He grabbed Riley's hand and led her to the front door, seeing that it was already open. He walked inside with Riley close behind him. "Mickey!" he called out, not getting an answer in return. Mason traveled to the back of the house and out into the backyard, where he immediately saw his sister. "Smells like you're burning the food already!" Mason exclaimed, joking before he leaned in to hug his sister. 'Mickey, this is Riley...Riley, this is Michaela," he introduced them, smiling big.THANK YOU, BLYTHE!

It was Memorial Day weekend and Riley hadn’t planned on doing anything but sitting around. Ever since Mason had told Riley what had happened between him and Preston, it had her thinking. Riley didn’t want Mason to be just with her—friendwise. She wanted him to have a lot of friends. she didn’t want him to turn out like her. But then again, she felt kind of threatened. For Mason’s sake, she pushed those thoughts out of her head before she showered and dressed accordingly to the warm weather.
Driving to get Mason, they headed towards his sister’s house, listening to him talk about how much he was going to eat. She chuckled lightly, making a right turn based on his directions. “She seemed nice over twitter. I guess me talking to her in person will only tell.” Riley said as she got out, grabbing her purse and the red velvet cake she had made for the occasion and walked in with Mason. When he introduced them, Riley smiled. “We finally meet! It’s nice to meet you!” She said with a grin.
She had been flipping the burgers when she heard the front door open. Before she could go to meet them at the door, Maosn had come out to the backyard to find her. Michaela laughed at her brother’s statement, rolling her eyes and returning his hug. ”Hush, nothing’s burning! I’ll burn you up a hot dog if you keep talking,” She teased with a smile. She pulled back from their hug and he introduced her to Riley, causing a bigger smile to spread across her face. She was a pretty girl and now that she saw them in front of her, Michaela could see they were a good-looking couple. Even better, the look in Mason’s eyes when he looked at Riley was just as genuine as when they had talked about her.”I know right? It’s good to finally meet you too!” She replied, smiling at Riley. She noticed the cake in Riley’s hands, taking it from her. ”Here, I’ll put this on the table for you,” She said, waking towards the picnic table with the other food laid out. She noticed Mason carrying a bag of chips and stuck her tongue out at him on the way to the table. ”You can put that up yourself,” She told him with a laugh. Michaela went back to the grill to check on the food as she spoke to both Riley and Mason. ”What do you guys want to eat?” She asked, opening a pack of hot dogs to put on the grill.-- ❤ shelby of shinetag: everybody | words: enough | outfit: this | notes: shitty start
Heyward had been talking to michaela lately about how he felt, and just catching up on everything since he hadn't talked to her in about a week in a half. It was memorial day weekend and he didn't plan on doing anything since he was all alone for the whole day since he didn't have amariah. He got invited to a cook out at her place that she was throwing. It was also a chance for him to spend time with her, and meet her brother. He just wanted it to go well, so he didn't have to deal with any drama or things of that nature; plus he didn't want the chance he had with michaela to be messed up. he got dressed to the standards of not looking like a bum just for michaela's sake and it would also be a surprise to her that he trimmed his beard. He knew she'd be happy about that, and it would help him not look like a "bum" as she said. He grabbed his keys, getting into his dodge charger and driving off to her place. He knew where she lived so it wouldn't take him long to get there, even if he was going a little bit above the speed limit. arriving at her house, he shut his car off and hopped out, seeing she left the door open so he could come in. He also examined the cars that were parked and he noticed hers and another, so he knew that her brother must have already arrived. Anyone here... he looked around seeing the house was empty, he figured everyone was out back so he proceeded to go to the backyard, following the smell of the food. Walking out back he saw michaela and the two strangers, guessing the guy had to be her twin brother. He walked around to michaela and smiled, "Hey michaela," he smiled and gave her a hug. He turned and greeted himself to the other two as well, "Hello, I'm Heyward." giving her brother a nice firm handshake and shaking riley's also in the greet. "So how's everyone..?" he stood next to michaela, putting his arm around her waist.TAG; ALL OF YOU / NOTES: FINALLY MEET / CREDIT; MALENA
fooooood!Mason was pleased to see that Riley and Michaela were getting along just fine. He knew all along that they would like each other; Riley was too sweet of a person for someone to hate her. He sucked his teeth at Mickey when she offered to take the cake off of Riley's hands, never offering to take the chips. "I'll make sure you don't get any then," he told her with a shrug, before leaving to set the bag of chips on a table that was nearest to him. The lump on his hip was getting bigger and it hurt even worse whenever he walked, but he wasn't going to complain about it all. No one had to know. "Put some hamburgers and ribs on the grill...I need to get my weight up," Mason called out to Mickey on the way, chuckling.Just as he was putting the bag of chips down, he heard a male's voice behind him speaking to his sister. He turned around to see a brown skinned guy with his arms around Mickey. Mason knew it had to be Heyward. He proceeded with caution, looking the guy up and down before he approached him. Heyward introduced himself to both Mason and Riley, but he stuck his hand out to shake Mason's. His grip was firm and Mason returned it. "I'm Mason," he said in return simply, before breaking away from the hand shake. He wasn't going to act like an asshole around the guy, but he still needed to keep his guard up for his sister's sake. He grabbed Riley's hand just as Heyward was putting his arm around Mickey's waist. "I'm chill I guess, ready to eat whenever Michaela decides to hurry up." He mean mugged his sister playfully.THANK YOU, BLYTHE!
Finishing up putting the hamburgers and ribs on the grill, Michaela heard footsteps near the patio door once again. That had to have been Heyward, and she couldn’t help but feel the little butterflies building up in her stomach in anticipation. She turned towards the door, smiling when she saw him approaching her. ”Hi,” She said quietly, returning his hug. She smiled a bit to herself as he shook her brother’s hand, as well as Riley’s. ”Heyward, this is my brother Mason and his fiancé Riley… Mason, Riley, this is Heyward.” She said, formally introducing the three of them. Michaela could only hope that her twin took a liking to Heyward. Truthfully, she seeked his approval more than anything. She side eyed his simple introduction and shook her head with a small laugh, hoping he would lighten up soon.”Hush, Mason. You won’t get any food and you can eat those chips all day,” She said with a laugh before she reluctantly let go of Heyward’s waist. ”Go sit down, I’ll fix you a plate.” She told Heyward as she looked up at him, pinching his cheek lightly. Michaela noticed off the bat that he had trimmed his beard and although she liked it long, she had to admit that this looked good on him too. She grabbed the paper plates and went to the grill, fixing everyone their respective plates of meat. She went over to the table, placing everyone’s food before them, knocking Mason upside the head playfully when she got to him. ”Here, only cause I love you,” She teased with a laugh before she went back to the grill to finally fix her own plate. Once she was finally done, Michaela sat back down at the table next to Heyward with everyone else. ”Pass me the chips, stingy,” She said to her brother with a playful nudge.-- ❤ shelby of shinetag: everybody | words: enough | outfit: this | notes: shitty start

Riley smiled and shook Heyward’s hand. He was good looking and she was happy for Michaela. She could tell that he was doing something to Mason’s sister. She held onto Mason’s hand, feeling kind of awkward. She really didn’t know what or where to go from here. “I’m good…and yourself?” She asked when Heyward asked how everyone was doing. The food was done and she looked over at Mason with a smile. “I can make your plate baby.” She said, piling his plate because she knew how he was talking in the car. Making herself a plate also, she took a bite out of her burger after putting barbeque sauce on it.
He felt weird, introducing himself to someone's brother for approval or just for recognition but he didn't mind it. Mason seemed chill but he didn't know, and riley she was cute so he at least could see that Mason was doing something with himself. "Yeah michaela, needs to hurry up with this food, cause a dude is starving" he laughed and smiled. then hearing riley, introduce herself and ask him a question, he listened to her before saying something, "that's good, and I'm doing well just glad I can spend memorial day with michaela" smiling at michaela. He felt her pinch his cheek, and he smiled making a face at her. He really didn't feel at all that out of place or awkward and she saw the look that she gave him, so he knew he needed to light up or something. "You like that I shaved my beard, babe. asking her for a sign of approval. he moved to the table, as she told him she would fix his plate, which he didn't mind at all. He sat down, and waited for his plate to be served and brought to him. He took his plate, and then saw michaela smack mason up the head. Heyward chuckled before saying something, "Dang, why you always abusing people Michaela?" he laughed and just shook his head some. He kind of figured he wasn't the only one that had to deal with her always trying to fight somebody. He looked at the food, and licked his lips, waiting for michaela to sit back down before he would dig in. "I hope this is better than, that slop you tried to serve me and my daughter." he gave her a playful mean mug face and nudged her playfully. Biting into the rib, "mmm....." he grabbed a napkin wiping his mouth cause he knew he was sustainable to getting food in his beard. He then looked up and decided to ask Mason a question, "So how do you deal with Michaela all the time?" he laughed some and looked at michaela, cause he knew she was going to give him a face for that.TAG; ALL OF YOU / NOTES: FINALLY MEET / CREDIT; MALENA
fooooood!Mason shrugged at his sister's mean mug, not knowing what else to say. He needed to scope Heyward out first before he got comfortable with the dude. "The chips might be the only thing I can keep down," Mason commented, making his way over to the table to sit down. Riley took a seat beside him and he pulled her in closer to him. His plate, along with everyone else's, was made and he was given a slap upside his head by his sister. "Ow, man. You gonna make my hair growth slow down, quit fucking around," he said, shoving his sister playfully. They had always loved to tease each other. Mason cautiously approached his food, taking a small bite from his hot dog. He glanced over at Mickey and Heyward, seeing how happy they were despite what Michaela had told him earlier. Maybe they had solved things after all. While he was in the middle of biting his hamburger, Mason heard Heyward speak about his daughter and Mason put his food down, raising an eyebrow. He didn't really like the fact that Michaela was getting herself involved with someone who already had a child. That usually brought some type of drama. Mason wiped his mouth and took a sip of his soda, glancing back at Heyward as he asked him a question. "I just deal with her, not that hard," Mason said a little dryly, placing his cup back down. "So you have a daughter, how old is she?" Mason asked, wanting to know more. He was overprotective of his sister and just wanted the best for her.THANK YOU, BLYTHE!
She nodded at Heyward's question, getting comfortable in her seat next to him. "I didn't think you'd actually trim it," She said with a chuckle, pouring the chips on her plate. "It looks good though, I like it." She told him with a small smile, putting the chips back in the middle of the table. She side eyed Heyward's comment about the Dominican food with a laugh, shaking her head. "Shut up, that food was good and you know it." Before Michaela could really say anything else, Mason had answered Heyward's question, and by the dry tone in his voice she could tell that he was unamused. Once he started asking about his daughter, she noticed a change in Mason's demeanor. She always knew he was overprotective of her, especially since the passing of their father, but she didn't see the issue with Heyward having kids. She decided not to mention that he had twins, she would let Heyward answer for himself. He was a man and she would let him fend for himself like one. To her, there was no point in explaining for him since she knew it'd only prolong Mason's questioning. Michaela bit her lip, slowly eating her food and noticing how awkward it had become. She didn't know what to say, and when she looked up at Riley, she could sense that she didn't know what to say either. She just prayed that when Heyward did answer, it'd be enough for Mason to leave the subject alone. -- ❤ shelby of shinetag: everybody | words: enough | outfit: this | notes: shitty start

Riley heard the shift in Mason's voice and she knew what he was thinking. She thought it was cute and sweet that Heyward had a daughter. At least he stepped up to the plate unlike some guys she knew. Riley rubbed his back in comfort, trying to get him to go easy on Heyward. Eating some of the Doritos, she wiped her fingers on her napkin before speaking. "I bet she's gorgeous." She complimented, trying to relieve some of the awkwardness and tension that was in the air. "The food is really good, Michaela." She said with a grin, taking another bite out of her sandwich. She most definitely wanted her sister to meet Mason and Michaela soon.
Heyward, stole one of michaela's chips as she poured them on his plate, "Thank you." he made a face at her and laughed. He ate some his food before replying back to michaela, "Well it was long over do, plus I knew you would like it." smiling some at her, cause he knew she didn't want him looking like a bum; but he wasn't about to say that to mess up his chances. seeing that she finally gave him the look, he knew it was going to happen, "I'll let you slide, on your dominican food." laughing, and seeing that she got quiet as mason said something to him. He saw that michaela bit her lip, and was going to let him answer for himself which he needed to anyways. Cause if she tried to protect him, it would only make it even more awkward than it already had gotten. He took a sip of his drink and replied, "Well... I have twins, a girl and a boy and they're both 3 yrs old." he knew having a kid had it's perks and setbacks but 2, even if they were twins were not going to help him win over her brother. He then continued with what he was saying, "Their names are, Nicholas & Chanelle. Yeah, Riley they're cute bur always keep me busy so I like it." he shrugged and chuckled some to himself. He scratched his head a little bit, away from his plate and begin eating again. He knew it was kind of awkward, but felt that it was bound to happen anyways so he didn't really mind it at all. "You actually cooked something good for once, Michaela". he smiled to michaela and poked her cheek with his hand. TAG; ALL OF YOU / NOTES: FINALLY MEET / CREDIT; MALENA
fooooood!Of course, Mason wasn't surprised when Riley spoke positively on Heyward's daughter, seeing that she always had something nice to say about everything. Mason was a nice person also, but he just wasn't too fond of Heyward at the moment. The man had yet to win him over and for his sister's sake, he hoped that he would. Mason waited for Heyward to speak and when the man finally did, Mason's eyes almost fell out of his head. Not only did he have one child, but two....and they were twins. Heyward continued to speak but Mason could care less about the names of his kids; he wanted to be defensive instead. The meal had turned from calm to awkward in a matter of minutes and Mason placed his food down on his plate, crossing his arms. "So I guess you're gonna play mommy now to kids that aren't yours?" he said slickly, looking straight at Michaela. His tone was rude and out of line and even he was acting out of character. Mason just didn't want his sister to be carrying around extra baggage. He didn't think they would get married or anything like that, but being in a relationship with him would be serious enough. "If that's what you want..." he added, shrugging hard before he picked his hamburger right back up and took an angry bite. Maybe he was overreacting. Maybe not. THANK YOU, BLYTHE!
Michaela smiled a bit at Riley, grateful that she had something positive to say, unlike her brother. ”She is, she’s adorable,” She chimed in before taking another bite of her food. She felt her face flush a bit at Riley’s compliment, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear as she thanked her. Finally, Heyward answered Mason’s question, and she thought that was the end of it. Heyward was back to joking and she chuckled as she swatted his hand away. ”My cooking is always good,” She said with a smirk, nudging him in the side. Just when she thought the awkward moment was going to pass, Michaela caught Mason’s eye and knew what was going to come out of his mouth wasn’t going to be good. His slick comment caught her by surprise, but not surprise enough not to retaliate. ”Mason,” She said firmly, glaring at him. He was out of line and didn’t seem to realize it. ”Stop being so fucking rude and act your age.” Michaela said, taking a cold, irritated tone with him. She shook her head, placing her food back on her plate, suddenly no longer hungry. She sighed, looking over at Heyward. ”I’m sorry, I don’t know what’s wrong with him” She told him quietly, knowing this had to be uncomfortable for him as well. She had purposely avoided Mason’s question because she had never really thought about it in that way. Truthfully, she wasn’t sure if she could play ‘mom’ to someone else’s kids, but she knew she didn’t mind spending time with his children.-- ❤ shelby of shinetag: everybody | words: enough | outfit: this | notes: shitty start
