BUSINESS RESERVATIONS!!
This is something new that we will be trying out. Basically, we will make it possibly for our characters to be able to run businesses. Now, not anyone can just walk in, ask for a business and get it--Forums have got to be active, otherwise we would consider the business shut down. There are lots of criterias that need to be met, and originality is one of them of course. We can have many clothing stores since its just natural, but we cannot have 50 tattoo parlors and 50 sex shops. There is a form on the bottom and examples will follow, as well as an official business listing.
Shops will be located here, but don't make a thread unless you have been approved and your business has been listed in the directory.

ASHWICK GIFTS AND ANTIQUES "something out of the ordinary"
Owner: Mauricio Ausburn Link to forum: [ url=url here]HERE[/ url] Manager: N/A Hiring:YES Employees:
N/A
It was an idea originally thought of to keep Mau busy when Derren is away from the house since he generally does not like being in Eureka, but it grew into something else. Derren, being the one that was more sound when it came to business, had his doubts in the beginning—although Mau didn’t really need to ask further for the funds.
It’s a store that sells toys and antiques, but not your any regular toy; it’s more of a high end shop. It sells model cars and airplanes in different scales, collectible porcelain dolls and old fashioned toys, from wind-up music boxes to kites and building blocks, truly for any kids of all ages. The antique part would be the other part of the store, which generally just comes to trinkets such as candle holders, china sets, retro jewelry, but not limited to that as there are some other things such as furniture.
Baby carriages, cribs and a sofa can also be found in the store, as well as lamps and figurines. The clothing rack is a small part of the shop, although it’s mostly a mix and match of old clothes that are still good to wear, but maybe out of style. Good for the hipster who doesn’t mind making a bold fashion statement. Many of these are acquired from owners who wish to unload them before they move, or simply when they clean the garage and think they can sell some things.
So it’s a half and half kind of thing, the toys he contacts someone for the ordering of new merchandise, while the antiques he mostly acquires from garage sales or people who drop them over or call them to pick up some old things. The store offers services such as gift wrapping as it is a gift store after all, no charge when you purchase something, as well as free delivery and layaway.
It’s a small building on main street, right across the street from a few shops and around the corner from the city park. It is equipped with a functioning cash register and an alarm system, as well as video surveillance. The store does have a basement for inventory that can’t make it onto the floor. The store is leased, so he doesn’t own the building per se, but rather rent to be in there.
Business hours are from nine in the morning to nine at night, a twelve hour work day although sometimes it could get extended, or it can get cut short as it depends on the load of customers, Monday through Friday; ten in the morning to six in the weekends. As of right now, the owner is Mauricio Ausburn, though technically Derren advices him on it so they are co-owners, but Derren treats it as Mau’s baby. There are no need for many employees, although a person or two to help around would be needed, someone with at least some knowledge with computers and inventory, and someone who has great people skills to deal with customers, adults only, although we wouldn’t mind taking in a minor to work in the weekends or in the summer.

CALVIN TOMES "we buy and sell all books, including college texts"
Owner: DEANE DICKERSON/HENRY CALVIN Link to forum: [ url=url here]HERE[/ url] Manager: N/A Hiring:YES Employees:
NONE
Calvin Tomes in Ashwick is the fourth in a small chain of family-owned book stores. The first is located in Georgia and the other two in Northern California. The first was opened by George Calvin, Henry Calvin’s father. Henry was hired as a clerk when he was 14 and promoted to manager at 18. When his father died, he took over ownership of the store. He moved to California and began opening other Calvin Tomes stores in the mid 80’s, and in 2011, when his grandson Deane was old enough, opened a fourth in Ashwick, California. Deane now runs the Ashwick branch.
Ashwick’s Calvin Tomes is a 2 floor book shop that buys and sells all manner of books, from professional works and essays to college texts to paperback novels. The first level consists of college books located at the front right, professional texts at the front left, and a children’s section in the back. In the children’s section, there are a mass number of toys, puzzles, and games, as well as books and a teepee with two chairs for quiet reading. Children are welcome to play with whatever they would like, but please don’t take any toys home with you.
Upstairs are the paperbacks and novels. General fiction is on the right in the back, mystery and large print are on either side of the stairwell, science fiction and fantasy are in the back left, and all small paperbacks are at the front left.
If a book is in decent condition, it will be bought and sold at a fair price. Book prices depend on the condition and type of book and can range from $0.50 to $500. Most small paperbacks are priced between $0.50 and $1.00, mid-sized and large paperbacks are $1.00 to $4.00, and hardbacks are $2.00 to $8.00. Classics, collectibles, and professional texts range in price depending on antiquity value or overall worth. Out-of-date college books are sold for $15.00 to $20.00 and in-date college books are sold at 40% of the retail value.
If you would like to sell a book, haggling is permitted, but only fair prices will be accepted. All sales are final and no refunds will be offered. Deals will be offered if books are bought in bulk, meaning 10 books or more. Bags are always available, and Deane will gladly assist in carrying out loads of books.
Donations are always accepted and appreciated. Coupons and special offers will be available at various times during the year and can be found online, in the town paper, and in the store.
Store hours are as follows:
Monday – Thursday: 8:00 am – 8:00 pm
Friday: 9:00 am – 8:00 pm
Saturday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
Sunday: Closed
