Bonnie laughed a little, she was glad that someone actually was able to pick the accent. It was better than people calling her everything under the sun and saying that she was weird. "What about you? Where are you from? I've never been good with accents but you don't seem to have much of one" she said, smiling a little bit. She was actually genuinely enjoying the company for once and she was genuinely interested in what he was saying, for the most part.He clicked straight into her foster family and she nodded a little. Bonnie wasn't bitter as far as her family went, so it wasn't like she found it difficult to talk about. "My parents were never actually together, it was an affair, I use my mother's name, her first husband, well I don't remember him too much. Anyway, we moved from France to Wales and I was about five when I was removed from her care, spent some time in a group home and ended up in foster care. My foster parents were quite good to me actually. Glyn and Elsie Hopkins. They had about four foster kids as well as me. Most wonderful people I've met, they were the reason I continued the music I loved."

"Kingston, born and raised." He paused, the familiar need to explain coming over him once again. After all, Jamaicans tended to not be white. And even if he was only half white, it normally surprised people to hear where he came from. "My parents were involved in the archaeological investigation at Port Royal back in the sixties, through pretty much all of the eighties and part of the nineties. I've been all over the place though, which explains the strange mix of accents."

Bonnie went on to explain her childhood spent with her foster family and he nodded accordingly. It wasn't the most interesting story he had ever heard, but he was naturally curious about people, so it didn't bother him much. "So they got you into music?" he asked. "My folks wanted me in science, but that... Never happened."

Bonnie nodded a little as he, in return, mentioned about his family. She found it rather interesting, that was for sure. She really didn't know which accents she could hear but she found that she liked the slight twinges of different accents in his voice. It made it more interesting in talking to him. "Sometimes you can't do what your parents want you to do, but I can understand wanting the best for your children, believe me I do." She smiled a little bit, her mind drifting to her own children for the briefest of moments."Yes, they did. I wasn't fostered by them until I was in my teens, I'd been jumped around a bit before then, but I'd always been into music. They just sort of gave me the push that I needed. I started performing, learning to play, just little things. Once my kids came along, though, my desire to actually pursue a musical career seemed to slide back, I was content just performing at pubs and things on the weekend". She smiled a little bit "that's when your views on everything change" she said, though she knew he couldn't understand too well.

"Yeah, I bet." Or did he? He really had no idea. For all he knew, he had a kid somewhere out there, but he had never heard anything about them. He liked kids enough, but had never raised one, or even spent more than a day with one. All things considered, he had absolutely no fatherly tendencies. But playing along seemed like the right thing to do. "Performing probably isn't the easiest job with all the tater tots and ankle biters running around at home, yeah?" Man, that woman could talk about her kids.

Todd suddenly glanced around the room, trying to find a clock. Instead he fished out his cell phone to check the time, flashing the woman an apologetic glance as he shoved it back into his front pocket. "Sorry, I just don't want to get caught slacking on the job." Again. Or worse, called out for flirting with the poor, unsuspecting women in the establishment. Again. "I tend to get carried away with the conversation sometimes," he said, laughing slightly.

He stood up and thrust his hand toward her, hoping she wouldn't think it was full of chemicals or anything, or just gross in general. He realized he probably didn't look very put together altogether, having just finished a decent sized extermination. "I really should get back to the guys, though."

Bonnie laughed a little bit at the thought. "It isn't, but I wouldn't change it for the world. If I had to make the decision over again I'd choose my kids over again. Now, I have the benefit of seeing them perform, when they want to. It's not for everyone, though, the family life. Some people aren't cut out for it and some people love it. It just depends on who you are and what your goals are". She smiled a little and left the subject there. She really didn't think that it needed much more explaining. If he wanted to know more then he could ask her the questions, that was for sure.He basically implied that he was leaving and Bonnie couldn't help the slight look of disappointment that slipped onto her face. She was enjoying his company, she liked having him around she found, but she didn't know how to say it without seeming creepy. He thrust his hand towards her and she took it, standing up. "I suppose so" she said, sounding a little bit disappointed at the same time. "Though I wouldn't say no if you wanted to stay and keep me company for longer" she said, smiling a little bit in the hopes that he might change his mind and stay.

Maybe he was giving himself too much credit, but Bonnie seemed a bit disappointed when he stood up to leave. There was probably some wishful thinking thrown in the mix as well. From the ten minute conversation they had, he had decided that she was good company. Talked about her kids a lot, but he could deal with that.

"I don't mean to be rude, but those guys will leave without me." Because he had a habit of doing this very thing, almost everywhere he went on the job. Talking talking talking, to anyone who would listen. It was a force of habit, and he had learned to accept that about himself, but he didn't feel like paying for a cab back to the office. Except this was partly Bonnie's fault too, since she humored him for almost an entire ten minutes. She returned the handshake and he held on a bit longer than was probably necessary or even appropriate. "I hope I'll see you around, Bonnie." Damn straight he would see her around. He had already made a mental note to come back the following week to "check in" on the "termites."

He turned on his heel and walked out the door, the clanking of his utility belt making it obvious how slowly he was walking. He stopped at the doorway and turned back to face her, taking a deep breath. "Ok, tell me if I'm coming off too strong, but... I’m going to go check out that Rosie's Diner tonight. You should meet me down there, or something." He swallowed and took another deep breath, but kept his head held high and his chin up. This may have been the billionth time he asked a woman out and certainly wouldn't be the first time he got rejected, but it made him nervous, without fail, every single time.

Bonnie nodded a little bit, understanding that he had to leave, though she didn't really want him to do that. "You can see me around whenever you want to" she said, leaving the sentence open to interpretation. She actually found that she'd enjoyed his company and she didn't really want him to think that she was self centred, that was for sure. The invitation was something that she hadn't been expecting but she wasn't about to stupidly turn it down. "You know, I was just wondering what I should do for dinner, perhaps I might decide that I want to be there" she said, smiling a little bit. It was a look that clearly said she was going to be there. Without a question.

She said he could see her around whenever he wanted to, and he knew he was in. So to speak. He could have taken that statement in a million different ways, but he chose to take it at face value -- that is to say, she wasn't completely repulsed by him, and actually enjoyed his company to some degree. That was always an achievement. He beamed at her and nodded, choosing not to ruin the moment with some sly comment that had to do with all the other ways he could have taken her statement.

The invitation to Rosie's was as much a surprise to him as it probably was to Bonnie. He hadn't planned on it, but in hindsight, it was typical Todd behavior. He really didn't know anyone, and was getting tired of eating alone in his small, studio apartment. "Nice. Well, I'll be there around seven, if you decide to want to be there at the same time as I am." He gave her a thumbs up and backed out the door. "Have a good afternoon!"
