Reggie Boi: damn, mami. Talkin rough to me like dat gets me hawd.
Nikita was quite happy after bumping into Roman. It had gone much better than she’d ever expected it to or imagined it could have. The fact they had both been caught off guard had probably helped because they were both in the same boat then. Nik hadn’t worked up the courage to knock on his door and she may never have so bumping into him had definitely been a great thing. The way that he’d just taken everything in his stride and accepted her back so easily just made her feel even worse about it all. Yeah he didn’t fully trust her again but that was completely understandable with the given circumstances. Why did he have to be such a nice and good guy?
She’d decided to go round to his place. Now that she’d walked back into their lives she wasn’t just going to walk back out again. Nikita was still incredibly nervous despite the fact the worst part was over. It was like meeting him all over again and going through that awkward getting to know the other person stage, desperately trying to make a good impression. It had all been a lot easier when they’d both been young and there was a clean slate. Now they were older and the past was tainted everything was a lot harder. She just wanted them both back as soon as she could get them.
Nik turned up at his door armed with pizza, beer and a couple of DVDs, it was just like old times really. She stared at the door for a couple of seconds before deciding to actually knock on it. She took a few deep breaths in and out as she waited for him to open the door. Nikita was nervous but excited about seeing both their faces again. Surely it couldn’t be as awkward as their first encounter; she knew where she stood with him now so she was sure that’d make it a little better.

"Lily! Stop running !" Roman laughed lightly, shaking his head as he ran after his little girl. She was laughing and shrieking, around the house naked as he stayed behind her trying to get her dressed. He got closer to her, picking her up in his arms. "Daddy got you !" He kissed her chubby cheek as she laughed in his arms. He carried her back into the bedroom. "Let daddy get you into some clothes." She finally stayed still for him as he got her into her clothes. After getting her dressed, he smiled, kissing her forehead. "Thank you Lily." He felt her little hands on his face, looking at him. He looked back at his little girl, seeing himself in her and seeing her. He never thought he would see Nikita again, and it was just gonna be him and Lily, but since she made her way to them, he was actually happy to see her again. He wasn't going to admit it because of what she done. He wasn't going to trust her right away. He couldn't. He had to gain her trust all over again.
He knew it was going to be hard, but it didn't matter, she was here and he wanted her here for Lily. At that moment, that's all he wanted right now. For her to be a mother to their child. He didn't want things to be awkward between the two of them, but they already were since the first time they saw each other. He was thrown out of his thoughts when he felt Lily's clapping her hands against his cheeks. "Dada!" He snapped out of his thoughts, looking back at her. "Sorry baby," he smiled at her, as she giggled as he kissed the tip of her nose.
He pulled her out of her room and made his way back out into the living room. He placed her down on her blanket on the floor with her toys. He turned the volume up a little as he left it on the Disney channel for the little one. He made his way to the kitchen, but stopped when he heard a knock on the door. He turned back around, making his way to it. He looked through the peephole, seeing Nikita on the other side. He opened the door, seeing her there with her hands full. "Hey," he gave her a small smile before grabbing the beer and pizza from her. "Come in." he moved out of the way, letting her in. He closed the door behind them, before making his way into the kitchen, placing everything on the counter. He came back to her, running his fingers over his hair. "Surprise to see you here, but...I'm glad you're here." He looked over at Lily who was off in her own little world before taking his attention off of her and back to Nikita in front of him.

It felt like forever standing at his door. She couldn’t even fidget awkwardly because her hands were full with the stuff she’d brought with her. She didn’t even phone ahead to make sure it was alright, she really should have rang. Her mind was starting to run away with her. Nikita took a deep breath in trying to calm herself down. She was excited but nervous too and that was making her stomach go all crazy. It was a nice yet horrible feeling.
Nikita smiled as the door opened and Roman was stood there. “Hey, thanks” she said as she walked in and Roman took the things from her. “Well I did tell you that you’d be seeing me Roman and I do always try to keep my word” she grinned as he walked back in, glancing between both Lily and Roman. “I was going to come sooner but something came up with my family… you know” she sighed, shrugging a little. Roman had known her long enough to know what her family were like, there was always something going on and generally it wasn’t something good. She disliked them all and they more often than not were causing some sort of trouble for her but they were family at the end of the day so she loved them regardless.
“She’s so beautiful, that’s from your genes obviously” Nik laughed, rubbing her neck a little nervously, her eyes still glancing in Lily’s direction. She didn’t think it’d be as bad as their first encounter and it wasn’t but she did still feel incredibly awkward. Tension wasn’t something she dealt with well, actually there wasn’t a lot she dealt with well, she’d learnt to flee from practically everything but she was determined to deal with it now because she wanted to be a part of both of their lives and there was no way she was going to mess it up.

“Well I did tell you that you’d be seeing me Roman and I do always try to keep my word” He smiled slightly before looking back at her. "That's one thing that I knew you can do. You always try to keep your word." He bit his lip before going back to the kitchen, grabbing two beers for the both of them. She said something about her family, and he instantly rolled his eyes. He knew how her family could truly be. Yeah, it was family, but sometimes you had to let them go. Sometimes they could be bad for you. He watched her as her eyes went to Lily as she played with her toys on the floor. “She’s so beautiful, that’s from your genes obviously”
He smiled, looking over at Lily as she looked up at the TV, shrieking and clapping her hands together. "She looks like you, and she's like you in a way." He handed her the beer that was in his hand. Why did things have to be awkward between the both of them? He didn't know what it was. Yeah, they were away from each other for almost a year while he was taking care of their child, but they had a lot of history with each other. This shouldn't be hard to actually have a conversation with the first love of your life, but sometimes things change, but sometimes the way you feel about a person doesn't. He licked his lips as he opened his beer and making his way past her. He took a seat on the couch, patting the cushion next to him. "Don't be shy, take a seat." He smiled at her, taking a drink of his beer. Pizza, movies and hopefully them finally talking to each other without things being awkward. He wanted it to be a good night between the two of them. He wanted her to stay around so Lily will have that chance to know her mother.

Nikita just smiled in response to him. She breathed a sigh of relief as he walked into the kitchen. It gave a few seconds to calm herself down and gather her thoughts together. “It’s just Roman, just Roman” she whispered to herself, running a hand through her hair before he came back in. She saw him roll his eyes. Nik wasn’t surprised really, if anybody else had been stuck with a family like her she’d have told them to cut them loose but it was different being in the situation herself. They were her family and she had to deal with them.
“Well I do like sitting in front of the television clapping my hands excitedly” she smiled, obviously making a joke and taking the beer from him. Humour was supposed to break awkwardness right? “Nah I still think she looks like you” she said, taking a swig of the beer. She planned on drinking quite a little bit of alcohol, it was something else that generally helped ease awkwardness and they definitely needed it to be eased. She just felt guilty and looking at them both just made it even worse. She was going to have to get over it because she wanted to be there for Lily and for Roman.
She smiled as she sat down next to him. “Me? Shy?” she laughed, elbowing him gently. “Now you definitely know me better than that Roman” Nik smiled, taking another swig. It amazed her how well he’d just taken to everything and how genuinely happy he seemed with everything. There was no way she’d have handled it anywhere near as good if she’d been in his shoes. He was amazing but really she’d already known that all along.
“So I guess you get to watch a lot of kids television then?” she smirked, chuckling a little.

He smirked, shaking his head at the joke she made about clapping her hands excitedly at the TV. He took another drink of his beer, licking his lips. She made another mention of Lily looking like him. He looked over at Lily and then over at Nikita. He smiled, chewing on his bottom lip. "She's beautiful...just like you." He looked away from her before taking his eyes back to Lily. She was beautiful. She was then and still is now. He didn't even know how to react around her, but with a few beers, he'll be all right. She finally took a seat next to him, elbowing him. “Now you definitely know me better than that Roman”
"There are a lot of things that I know about you..." He smirked, sitting back on the couch. That was true, but he wanted to keep it clean since the little one was in the room. He wasn't gonna do anything...Maybe. “So I guess you get to watch a lot of kids television then?” He laughed lightly, looking down at his lap. "Yeah..." He nodded his head, looking back at the TV. "It's either Barney, Sesame Street, PB &J Otter, and many many more." He took a drink of his beer, sighing. "But her favorites are mickey mouse clubhouse and Phineas and Ferb." He smiled, shaking his head. his eyes looked over at her as she played around with her toys. "She keeps me young." He ran his hand over the back of his neck, watching her get onto her feet. He smiled as she made her way over to the couch. She looked up at him, raising her arms. "Dada, up." He placed his beer on the table before picking her up and placing her in his lap. He grabbed his bottle again, taking a drink. He licked his lips before kissing the top of her head as she rested her little body against him.

Nikita blushed nearly instantly at his compliment. She looked towards the ground trying to hide her smile. “Shurrup” she muttered, chuckling a little. She could agree that their little girl was beautiful though, in her eyes and she was pretty sure in Roman’s too, she was perfect. Lily was something they could both be proud of creating genetic wise but everything else was completely down to Roman and by the looks of things he’d done an amazing job. He was incredible.
She chuckled a little at his response. “Well I could definitely say the same about you Mr Pierce” she said, the smile left over from the chuckle still resting on her lips. It was true, she probably knew more about him than she did about literally anybody else she knew and it used to be vise versa but after just bailing like she did she figured he’d probably have doubts and such about her now.
Nikita was sure she hadn’t even heard of some of the shows he’d listed, especially a couple of those he listed as her favourite. That was bad. She had a ten month old daughter and didn’t know practically any cartoons or kids programs. For now though she was just going to ignore it and pretend that she knew exactly what the kids programs were. “Awww just wait till it’s all Barbie dolls and fairy tales and she’s wanting to paint your face in make-up, I’m sure you’ll be loving all that” she laughed, teasing him a little again. “She keeps you happy too by the looks” she smiled, squeezing his lower thigh gently and subconsciously as she watched Lily. “She’s getting a fro” Nik chuckled, still looking at the little girl. It was weird looking at her, she looked so different from the last time she’d really seen her. Yeah she’d caught glimpses of her when they’d bumped into each other but now she was really looking at her. It saddened her but she just smiled through it.

He cut his eyes over at her as she said something about Lily and covering his face in makeup. That was ONE thing that wasn't going to happen. He was going to keep that from happening. Hell, she'll use her uncle as a guinea pig, not him. He loved his little girl to death, but that was something that he wouldn't do. "I love her to pieces. Y'know I do, but daddy's not putting on makeup." He laughed, shaking his head. "It won't happen." He shook his head.
“She keeps you happy too by the looks” He went to respond, only to feel her hand squeeze his thigh. His body tensed up slightly, hoping that she didn't catch it. He didn't know where that came from. He knew that he would just try and keep it out of his mind at the moment. He didn't want to ruin the moment just by asking her why did she do it. He didn't want her to be all nervous and mumble over her words. He looked down at Lily, running his fingers over her hair. "She's the only happiness I've had in a long time." He smiled as he watched her slip her two fingers into her mouth and starting sucking on them.
“She’s getting a fro” He smiled as he ran his fingers through her hair again. "It's not tamed right now. Daddy will take care of it later, right Lil ?" She nodded her head slightly, making him smile. "Promise me something..." He looked away from Lily and turned his attention on Nikita. "Don't leave again... She needs you more than ever..."

Nikita chuckled at him. His reaction was more amusing than she had imagined it would have been so that just added to her entertainment. “Whatever Roman… just you wait till she’s looking up at you with those big puppy eyes and see if you can resist then” she smiled, still laughing a little to herself. She could picture his face covered in some probably very badly applied makeup and it was just humorous, he really wasn’t the type to be chill with that.
She didn’t even realise that she’d squeezed his leg; it was just an old habit resurfacing itself. Nik in general wasn’t a touchy feely person but she was comfortable around Roman so she was okay with the contact. She was completely oblivious to Roman’s reaction to her touch mostly because of the fact she was oblivious she’d actually done it. “Well I bet she gave you a lot of happiness though right?” she said, glancing between Lily and Roman. She really hoped he’d been okay and happy despite what she’d done. That’d probably hurt as much as knowing how much time she’d missed and the fact her own daughter didn’t know who she was. She really cared about Roman, always would.
“Roman the little hairdresser is it now?” she smiled, poking a little bit of fun at him again. Humour and jokes always made her feel a lot more comfortable except when she was angry, that tended to end badly. Nikita was at first a little taken back by his request but she had been expecting it. She knew it was a completely understandable statement that really had to be said at some stage. “I’m not going anywhere, I promise” she said, clasping his hand in hers for emphasis. Nikita wanted him to know that she was there to stay this time. “I want to be here for her… and you if you need me”.

“I’m not going anywhere, I promise” She laced her hand with his. His eyes went down, giving off a small smile. He looked up at her. “I want to be here for her… and you if you need me” He looked down, lacing his fingers with hers. "I've been waiting for you for 10 months. I don't want to let go." He looked up at her, running his thumb across her skin.
He smiled as he watched Lily climb off his lap and made her way back over to her toys. He shook his head as she made her way back over to him with her bear in hand. He placed his beer back on the table before picking her up. He knew what was happening, she was starting to get sleepy. He kissed the top of her head, her resting her head against his chest. "It's time for someone's bedtime." He smiled as the little girl nodded her head. "I'm gonna take her to bed." He smiled before slowly getting up with her in his arms. He chewed on his lip, hoisting Lily up a little bit. "I'll be back. If you want to put in a movie or something, you can." He smiled before walking away and making his way to her bedroom.
"Ugh Lil, what is daddy gonna do?" He looked at her as she rested her head on his shoulder. "Should daddy trust mommy again? 10 months a long time." He chuckled slightly, sighing looking at her. "You probably don't understand daddy." She looked up at him, making him look at her. He kissed her forehead, sighing softly. "Daddy will figure it out." He walked into her room, laying her down. He pulled the covers over her, kissing her forehead before making his way out of her room. He sighed softly, rubbing the back of his neck. He came back out and into the living room, looking over at her. "Are you hungry?" He smiled, knowing that she brought pizza, he didn't want it to go to waste.

As Nikita sat down on the couch with Roman, and held his hand whilst Lily sat on his knee she realised how right it felt. She’d always thought that she would never be a mother, not until she was a few years older and wiser anyway. The women in her family were notoriously not maternal and just generally made crappy mothers. Nik had never wanted to put a child through that, it wouldn’t have been fair on them. However she knew she could do it with Roman’s support, she could be a half decent mother to their daughter. “Did you know I was going to come back?” she asked, looking at him. She wasn’t too sure whether she’d like the answer or not.
“Okay” she said, watching Roman carry Lily into her room. He’d taken to everything so well; he was like a pro already. Nik downed the rest of her bottle of beer before putting it on the table. It was just a little bit of courage to loosen up. She was already feeling a little more comfortable around him but a little bit of alcohol couldn’t hurt. Nikita looked through the films she’d brought. She’d brought a couple of kids films just in case the little one was still up along with a horror and an action film. She wasn’t really the chick flick type so there was definitely none of those. She decided that she’d probably like to watch, she loved a good scary film but she’d let Roman decide.
Nik could hear him talking to Lily but couldn’t make out what he was saying. She was tempted to eavesdrop but she resisted, that wouldn’t be fair. “This or this?” she asked, holding up both the DVDs as Roman walked back into the room. “Yeeeeeeees, I’m starving” she said, running a hand through her hair. Nik shuffled back on the chair getting herself comfy before glancing around, taking the place in. “Did she go down okay and everything?” she asked, trying to keep the conversation rolling. Nikita didn’t know anything about their little girl really. She didn’t know if she was a good sleeper or a screamer, what her favourite food was, literally nothing.

As he came back into the living room, she held up two movies asking him which one he wanted to watch. He really didn't care, but he choose one anyway. "This one." He pointed at the one in her left hand before making his way into the kitchen, grabbing the pizza box again, the beer and making his way back into the living room. He placed the box on the table before picking up the movie that they decided on. He put it in the DVD player, placing the case near it. “Did she go down okay and everything?”
He nodded his head as he grabbed the DVD remote and making his way back to the couch, sighing. "Yeah, she went down okay." He grabbed himself another beer, cracking it open. "She's a good baby." He smiled softly. "She sleeps like a baby." He chuckled slightly. "There's sometimes where she'll get up and climb out of bed and find her way to me." He rubbed the back of his neck, licking his lips. "One night, she came into my room, got herself into my bed, placing her hands on my face asking me to wake up." He shook his head. "It was a little bit after one in the morning." He laughed lightly. "I got her to sleep finally." He smiled, taking another drink of his beer.
"She's a handful, but it's nothing that I can't manage." He smiled a little, finally starting the movie up. "And to answer your question..." The question she asked before taking Lily to bed. He didn't want to answer it, but he was going to anyways. "I didn't think you were coming back. I thought you were long gone and never to return, but you're here now. That's all that matters." He looked over at her, giving her a small smile.

“Well I’m glad she’s good” she smiled before listening to his story. “That’s really cute” Nik laughed. It made her a little more upset and annoyed about all the time she’d missed but it was her own fault. She’d chosen to skip out and now she was paying for it. Despite how bad it made her feel, she wanted to hear all the stories, she wanted to know what she’d missed no matter how much it hurt to hear. It could help her to get to know her little girl, her personality and her habits, she’d left before any of those things began to show themselves. If she could turn back the clock, she definitely wouldn’t have left. “A handful? At least she keeps you on your toes and entertained then” she smiled, grabbing a piece of pizza and another beer.
Nikita looked at him as he answered her question finally. The film just faded into the background for her. He was being honest and she was really glad of that. “I am sorry Roman, really sorry” she said, taking advantage of the serious moment so she could say what she felt she had to for the final time. She wasn’t going to bring it up again afterwards because she wanted them to move on and try their best not to dwell on it. Nothing good could ever come from repetitively dragging it up. “Thank you for giving me another chance, I don’t deserve it, not at all for what I’ve done but I appreciate it, I really appreciate it” Nik said, a small smile on her face. Part of her really couldn’t believe that Roman had just accepted her back into their lives so easily and warmly. She was lucky, really lucky. “I’m not going anywhere ever again, I promise”.

“I am sorry Roman, really sorry” He looked over at her, completely forgetting that the movie was on. He didn't really care for it anyways. It was truly hard for him to even let her in once again. She was gone for so long, but she was here now. He didn't want to keep thinking about the past, he wanted to move on from it and just start fresh with her again. “Thank you for giving me another chance, I don’t deserve it, not at all for what I’ve done but I appreciate it, I really appreciate it”
"You don't have to apologize." He shook his head, giving her a small smile. "You're here now..." He reached over, grabbing her hand again with his. He ran his thumb over her knuckles as he looked at their hands before looking up at her. “I’m not going anywhere ever again, I promise” He sighed, placing his beer down before turning himself towards her. He brought his other hand against her cheek as he leaned in, kissing her lips slowly. A feeling, a taste of her that he hasn't had in a very long time. He missed it. It sent a chill up his spine, making the hair on the back of his neck stand up. He missed what they had, what they were. He wanted it back. He pulled away slowly, sighing. He pecked her lips once again, looking down before looking back at her. "I know..."

“I do and apologizing is nowhere near enough but I’m glad you’re just being so incredibly amazing about it, about everything” she said, putting her beer and slice of pizza down. Nikita looked down at their joined hands. She smiled; he just made her so happy it was unreal even when he was just being himself. She was sure that once all the newness had worn off again the same old things about him would irritate her all over again but it didn’t stop her from being happy with him. Part of those things made him into who he is and the guy she loved. He had no faults in comparison to her.
She was a little taken aback when he kissed her but in the best way possible. Nikita had missed being able to kiss him so made the most of the moment. The whole thing was just making her stomach do somersaults, just like it did when they’d met and first started dating. After the little peck he placed on her lips, she wrapped her arms around him and pulled him into a cuddle. “Thanks” she said simply, burying her face into his neck and collarbone. She placed a couple of kisses on his neck, quite reluctant to let him go from her grasps. Nik pulled away a little bit, just so their faces were a couple of centimetres away from each other’s, running a hand through his hair gently. “You’re so handsome” she said, accidently voicing her thoughts out loud. Maybe the beer had gotten to her a little, even if it had she'd never admit that.
