Keep your feet on the groundWhen your head's in the clouds. The corner of her mouth turned up in a small, almost unnoticeable smile. "I do appreciate a good vocabulary." As she listened to him, she could feel a few different reactions playing across her face but the most prominent was surprise. "so... you think I like greasers? Is that what you're saying?" It was almost worth a laugh, but she was wary of doing anything that might promote more exuberance from him."I don't know, Finn." she started, playing out the scenario in her head. She couldn't imagine that he would sit quietly for hours as she read. The whole point of going to a field, were she to give in and do it, would be to have some alone time anyways , so there was no situation where him being there played out well. "I feel like the point of me going to a field to read would be ruined by you chattering in my ear." His laugh was loud. just like everything he did. Quinn shied away from him a bit, taking a side step to put some distance between them. "You're so embarrassing. just stop. Besides, there's girls out there you haven't seen yet. I'm sure one of them is prettier." WORDS: 200+ NOTES: gah, sorry if this is sucky BY MEGAN FOX AT ATF
Finn chuckled again, to hide his disappointment, shoving his hands deeper into his pockets as he looked up ahead, slightly distracted with the heavy walking of her friends a few feet in front of them. ”Seemed like the most logical explanation,” He reasoned completely serious. ”You didn’t like me and I’m all around adorable. I’m not a bad boy because Bolt says I’m too cuddly and soft around the edges so you must like em. Some of your friends even said you had a crush on Bolt once.”
He forced another smile on her lips, in hopes of reassuring her, though it probably came out more broken than before. ”You’re probably right. I am too loud to take to a reading venture. Maybe when you’re not reading then?” He asked again, trying to sound hopeful bur absolutely failing. He couldn’t say that he was disappointed or anything because she really had no obligation to say yes; let alone tolerate him. It was still a surprise she’d lasted this long.
The softness of disappointment was quickly replaced with the almost permanent fixture of adoration he’d always wear around her, that solemn glaze in his eyes that just told her how fretfully wrong she was in his eyes. ”I’ve seen a lot. And nope, none can compare. Well, I’m lying. There might be one but that’s Angelina Jolie and that might just be because Brad Pitt has her.”

Her cheeks flushed scarlet again at the mention of her past crush on Bolt. Her eyes and mouth suddenly open wide to show how horrified she was that someone had told him that, even more so that it was true. In fairness, it had been back when she wasn't fully aware of how obnoxious and childish Bolt could be, but still it was unbelievably embarrassing. "That's.. not true." she lied, shaking her head. His forced smiles were getting to her. She could tell something was wrong, but didn't know whether to ask or not. The fact that he couldn't even make himself sound hopeful really got to her. "Yeah... Maybe sometime we can do that." Quinn told him, nodding slightly and giving a small sympathetic smile. She didn't even know herself if she was being honest, but giving him even a little hope would be better than watching this dejected Finn, whose lack of enthusiasm was truly unnerving."Angelina Jolie? i'm sure just about any celebrity is better looking than me." she told him matter-of-factly WORDS: 200+ NOTES: gah, sorry if this is sucky BY MEGAN FOX AT ATF
”See, I can be logical too.” He said with a half smile, trying not to frown as he noted the obvious blush on her cheeks. Of course, Bolt was always better with the ladies. He’d never doubted that for a second. ”It’s not?” He asked, genuinely surprised. He might have to ask Bolt for that five bucks back he paid him in sophomore year. ”It must be Allie then! You know he’s gay right?”
He sighed at the maybe, a soft faint echo of a smile ghosting his lips. Maybe used to be enough. It was enough to send him jumping through rooftops with hope but it seemed even that part of him was gone now. He doubted Quinn would notice though so he just continued with the rouse. ”Yeah, maybe.” He repeated, turning to look at her and forcing another smile.
”That’s true but you’re a different kind of beautiful.” He argued. ”You’re like Princess Dianna sort of beautiful only classier like Kate Middleton. Now that girl’s pretty.”

Keep your feet on the groundWhen your head's in the clouds. Quinn found it almost unbelievable that he'd accepted her lie so quickly. She'd never been one to lie, and certainly not one to lie well, it was a relief to her either way. She didn't have to face the embarrassing fact from her past. "What? Alistair? yes of course I know he's gay. we're kind of friends..." She bit her bottom lip, wondering how he'd react to finding that his friend was accepted into her fold but not him. There it was again. the fake smile. Quinn was too observant, and too caring, for her own liking. The more she had to see it, the more she felt bad for him and wanted to ask. "Finn..." she started, but just sighed and shook her head, looking down at her feet as they took step after step. "Yeah.."She shook her head, still unconvinced. "She is pretty. But I'm nothing compared to either of those women." WORDS: 200+ NOTES: gah, sorry if this is sucky BY MEGAN FOX AT ATF
That was the thing about Quinn. He can never be sure for certain when it came to her that he’d believe aything she said to him. Whether “I hate you” or “I like you a tolerable amount” were the words, he’d always accepted them to be facts. ”You are?” He asked, his voice breaking at the end. ”I guess that’s understandable. He’s the smartest guy I know. Of course you two would hit it off.” He nodd more to himself, his lips thinning into a line. ”That’s good. Allie needs more friends anyway. I think he’s getting annoye dwith with how stupid me and Bolt are.”
Finn’s head immediately swerved at her voice, eyes expectant but not hopeful. His lips forming into a small smile even when she shook her head and looked away. ”Did you date anybody while I was away?” It seemed a much better question than did you notice I was away for a year.
He stopped in front of her and gave her a look. ”What can I do to convince you otherwise?”
