Living the married life was certainly shaping up well for Ebony. She'd been hesitant at first that she was capable of working alongside someone she loved so much, but it was great with Tommy. He was stable, a great provider, and gave her some of the greatest sex she'd ever had in her life. Many people had questioned her over and over about what exactly had brought them together and she hated to admit it, but a speeding ticket had done it all.. she'd have never initially given him a chance if he didn't try to smooth talk her out for a date while she'd been bitching him out for writing her a ticket for going five miles over the limit.
I was almost tempted to get the hell out of my car and punch him, but thankfully I didn't. she had thought to herself, stirring a pot of macaroni that'd been apart of he meal she'd been preparing for him. Going through a long day at the high school and then coming home to slave over a stove was a hard transition for her, but it was well worth it. he'd be stepping in at any moment from the station and she wanted him to come home to a home cooked meal and the love of his life. Marriage wasn't so bad afterall.

It was not because he was slightly shorter or something than the other officers in the precinct, nor because he was a rookie. He was from out of town, which makes it much worst. He dealt with gang violence, while here the most meanest and brutal thing that had happened so far was a car running over a possum and having it’s entrails squirting out on some unfortunate pedestrians on the side of the road. A few hikers from Germany who came for good sightseeing and will return back home with a funny story. Other than that, everything else had gone great. He wasn’t sure how his brother would take it to them living here, but so far everything seemed great.
It was something he and Ebony always wanted, a small house on a small town with a garage he could stick his old car and surfboards in, and she gets her small kitchen and garden that he still somehow needed to pull the weeds out of. He was amazed at how things had turned out, that even to this day, he still rewinded everything in his head, or imagined what would have happened if he wasn’t such a stubborn mule and wouldn’t take no for an answer—just exactly where his life would have been without her. He could smell something, and from the sounds of it, she was in the kitchen.
He grabbed the flower he had in his head, it was just one, but still beautiful. Quality over quantity man here, it was a purple looking thing with blends of white in the center. He held the stem with his teeth and peeked his head out the wall, so only his neck stuck out with his teeth biting on the flower.

Although Ebony had been a little too preoccupied with doing her own thing, she still had been able to hear the faint sound of footsteps making their way toward the kitchen. Smiling, she felt her heart flutter as she turned to face the open doorway to catch his face. She hadn't even heard Tommy's car pull up into the drive way, let alone him opening the door to the house, but lo and behold in the entryway stood her husband. For a guy so burly in size, he was actually very light on his feet. Not many people knew that the two of them went out dancing often or that he'd been the better dancer of the two, but regardless how he'd been able to be so agile was beyond her. He'd managed to surprise Ebony with a sneak attack of love plenty of times since they'd been together and tonight hadn't been any different. With what seemed to be a flower in between his teeth, Ebony moved forward toward the man.
"Forever the romantic," she remarked, embracing Tommy and planting a kiss on his cheeks. "Where'd you get the flower from? It's beautiful. I didn't get you anything though.. Should I have?"

Well, what was he supposed to say? That he had seen it growing on the side of the sidewalk right outside of the house, and he had picked it up immediately and bit on it, tasting the dog urine but he still wanted to be romantic? Or did he really want to tell the true story? That he stopped his car—while going forty miles per hour—the moment he had seen the flower stall and almost got in an accident, not to mention the elderly driver behind him shaking her fists at his direction, pulled to the side of the road and purchased the flower just for her and took it home? Either way, he knew she would laugh at what he had to say.
”Nah, you don’t have to get me anything… I’m hungry though,” He didn’t want to mention anything about her looking fine as hell as she stood over that hot stove—as weird and deranged as that may have sounded, but it was always hot how she seemed to fit in and looked like a natural at whatever she was doing, whether teaching or being a homebody. Biting his bottom lip, which kind of went bad since he had the flower in there still so he kind of tasted some of the bitter flower sap on his teeth, he walked straight behind her and wrapped his hands around her waist, chin down on her shoulder and inhaling the scent from her hair. ”Found it on the sidewalk,” the part about the dog pee, he won’t tell. Ruin the conversation, you know?
Notes: sorry for the wait ... rofl, so hes a dancer now? xD

“You’re hungry? Good, ‘cause I just spent way too long cooking a meal. You would be eating regardless tonight, babe.” Ebony smirked, patting Tommy on the cheek as she moved the both of them forward towards the spread of food. There was quite a lot for there to have only been just the two of them, but one thing she knew about her man was when he was hungry he was someone who liked to chow down. He wasn’t a hefty man by any means, but he was larger in size and it was pretty much a given that those type of men were eaters. She’d been lucky enough that he enjoyed her cooking, upon other things as well. They never ate left overs thanks to him, it was a pretty wonderful thing if you asked Ebony. Nothing went to waste and she was able to cook a new meal the following night.
Eb looked up at her husband upon. “On the sidewalk? Where?” she loved the flower, but with him announcing where he’d found it she was curious to know exactly where he had gotten it. For all she could’ve known he could have picked it up outside a crackden, though she had really doubted that. “Well, wherever you got it, it’s still a beautiful flower, honey. I still really feel like I should’ve gotten you something in return though..”
ooc: yes, he's a dancer and according to this post a hefty eater :|

”Oh yeah? I bet I’d still be raiding the fridge at midnight after all your food,” he said in that thick voice of his. He always liked to go over what she did, besides, that was a romantic thing, right? That he loved all she cooked so much that he dared eat himself into a food coma after all that? Still, who would want to kiss him after he had been in the fridge raiding whatever she had in there, not to mention the morning breath? He always loved it when he woke up and would turn over to her, grinning for a kiss while she put her palm to his face and lovingly whisper ’brush first…’ and he’d groan like a child.
It was real love, and for a while he didn’t think that he deserved it; that just like his brother, he’d only have it for a little bit and it would be gone from him forever. Every day just seemed like a gift, and he didn’t know whether it was being married to someone who was a theater instructor, or to someone whose life just seemed much more interesting than his was, but it certainly made him want more—to the point where little things like bringing her flowers after work when he came home felt like nothing. ”Nothing, really… just saw it and thought of you. Since you like it, I think I don’t have to say where I got it.” he grinned, tightening his hold around her. ”You really didn’t have to though… except, I could think of one thing…” he paused for a moment. ”… like… cooking for my brother and your niece.” he closed his eyes and wondered if she would say yes.

“Of course you would! You’re like a garbage disposal , I swear.. it’s like no matter how much I cook, you’re still hungry after all it’s gone.” Ebony shook her head, walking over to the pot of mashed potatoes to mix it through once more, to keep it from lumping. Tommy, his big heart, and even bigger stomach had meant the world to his wife. She loved that he adored her cooking, heck.. even the fact that he appreciated that there was a meal every time he stepped foot through the door was important to the aspect of their marriage. Ebony’s mother had been a homemaker, she dedicated her entire life caring for her father and her siblings, so it was expected that Eb would inherit a bit of those qualities as well. She was still her own woman though and very independent though she had been in a wonderful relationship. Ebony was a theatre teacher over at Lincoln High and teaching had been her life. Being an inspiration to the kids was something she looked forward to doing each day she stepped foot in the doors. She wanted to be a role model for every person she came in contact with. She had just been that type of person.
“Aw, that’s so sweet.” she smiled. “Oh yeah, and what’s that?” Ebony questioned, hooking her hand against her hip. When Tommy mentioned his brother, Ebony eternally rolled her eyes, but she understood completely why he had asked that. She didn’t want to come between his brother and him, so she kept her happy composure and nodded her head. “Sure, when did you want them over for dinner?”

”HONESTLY,” HE CRINKLED HIS NOSE AS HE SPOONED THE FOOD ONTO A PLATE AND LOOKED BACK AT HER. IT WAS A LITTLE TENSE SUBJECT, BETWEEN HIS BROTHER AND HIM. HE WOULD NEVER ADMIT IT TO HER, BUT HE KNEW ETHAN PROBABLY WOULD HAVE ALWAYS WONDERED WHY SOMEONE LIKE HIM WAS ABLE TO BE IN LOVE WITH SOMEONE SO BEAUTIFUL, SOMEONE ATTRACTIVE, SMART AND TALENTED, WHILE HIS LOVE ENDED IN SEPARATION. HE WAS NEVER QUITE OVER IT, HE THOUGHT, AND I KNOW—HAVING THE BOTH OF THEM HERE FOR DINNER WOULD JUST MAKE IT LOOK LIKE YOU WERE INVITING THE ENEMY TO HAVE PIZZA WITH OVER WINE RIGHT THERE NEAR THE KITCHENS WERE ALL THE KNIVES WERE AT.
STILL, IT WAS HIS BROTHER AFTER ALL, AND HIS NIECE THAT WOULD BE VISITING. HE REALLY DID THINK EBONY WOULD BE A POSITIVE INFLUENCE IN MIRIAM, ALTHOUGH HE WOULDN’T BE SHOCKED IF HIS WIFE WOULD BE A BIT SCARED AT FIRST WITH THE GIRL’S APPEARANCE. HE SIGHED AND LEANED AGAINST HER, RESTING HIS HEAD ON HER SHOULDER. ”IT’S A MESS… THEYRE HAVING THIS BIG FIGHT, AND I’M HER FAVORITE UNCLE…” HE GRINNED AT THE NOTION, AND HE KNEW SHE WOULD BE ROLLING HER EYES AT HIM RIGHT AT THE MOMENT THAT HE SAID THAT

Ebony wanted to sigh, but opted not to. “Honestly, I’m really not going to say anything negative about your brother or anything because I genuinely do love him, but I really worry about him sometimes..” She looked away from Tommy before shifting her eyes back over. “The thing I’m more bothered about though is that it kind of seems like you thought I would be hesitant about having your brother over, as if that was some kind of problem.” There was no doubt in her mind that he’d thought that way, but she just wanted an honest answer. Of course she’d thought a particular way about his brother, Ethan. He was dumpy, kind of on the downfall of having a breakdown or something.. but most of all he was Tommy’s brother so she was gonna stick by him as long as she could.
“You know,” she remarked as she watched him eat. “I just really wouldn’t say no to something like that. They’re family, so of course we can have them over. I just wouldn’t want it to be some kind of habit to ask me last minute on having people over.”
