"I don't know, do you want him or her to?" Avery asked, tilting her head to look up at him. She didn't like the idea of being the only Parrish in the house - the only one he wasn't comitted to.

"Well, yeah. I know we aren't married but I still want the kid to have my name." He said, frowning slightly. "I mean. Landon Hulse, Brandon Hulse, Keegan Hulse, Isabella Hulse." Avery Hulse.

There wasn't even a yet. They just weren't married. She laid her head back down so the tears burning the back of her eyes wouldn't be visible to him, and managed not to let any fall. "Well, if that's what you want" even if it wasn't what she wanted. She wanted to be able to sign his permission slips without people asking questions, and not have to explain that she wasn't a babysitter, she was his mother. Or her mother. But Avery didn't know if she wanted to fight with him over it.

"Okay" Avery said, then went quiet for a minute before getting up, "I'll be right back" She told him as she went off to the bathroom, feeling both like crying and like throwing up. He was willing to give his name to the baby but not to her. It was what he wanted. For all his talk about caring about her, he had come back because he cared about the baby, not her. Closing the door behind her, she made sure to lock it before turning on the tap to hide the sound of her weeping. She felt like an idiot for being upset, she felt like an idiot for believing him. But then, there was nothing new there.

She felt sick, all right. She was going to die alone and he was going to take her baby and go off somewhere or something. They'd be a family and she'd just be ovaries and a uterus. God, she hated this. Avery wanted to stop crying and for all of this to be okay, but somehow she just kept spiralling back to this feeling of inadequacy. And now, sobbing on the edge of the bathtub, she couldn't make it go away.

"I'm fine" Avery said to him through the door and the water, "just not feeling well" it wasn't even a lie. She felt like her heart had been run over by a train.

She almost said no again, but it seemed so childish. "I'm fine, I'll be out in a minute" she said, hoping he'd give her enough time to compose herself and not just break into the bathroom. She was on her feet by the time she said it, and wiping the tear tracks from her cheeks. She needed to somehoe make her eyes look less puffy and red.
