The year is 2091 AD, 100 years exactly since Harry Potter first entered Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as a First Year student. Voldemort has been dead now for more than twenty years, and this the latest generation of students are the first to grow up in a truly peaceful time. The usual conflicts are bound to arise, though. Slytherins and Gryffindors still seem to have problems down to their bone. But then again, little else has changed.

A new Headmistress came to power at Hogwarts thirteen years ago. Her name is Blythe LaTouya and she was once a Ravenclaw at Hogwarts herself. She has instituted changes at Hogwarts, as any new Headmaster is prone to do. One of these changes is to accepted students that would previously be considered too odd to train here: students with special abilities. They are given special classes above and beyond their normal course-load, but not treated differently in any other way.

Not a single one of the old professors still remain. The school has changed hands, that way, several times this last century.

All told, things are peaceful and quiet. Almost too quiet. On the horizon another threat is slowly being born, but for now the students need only worry about thirteen inch assignments for Potions and Quidditch games.

When most of the current students at Hogwarts were too young to really remember (the oldest would have been 2 or 3 years old) an uprising broke the relative peace of the era. Hysteria took the wizarding world, despite this conflict only lasting a little more than a year. A group of Death Eater descendants who lived by the old ways came together under the guidance of a person they whispered to be the Dark Lord's heir.

The death toll of this group in such a short amount of time was high (at least two dozen wizards were killed) but after less than a year of terror, they simply disappeared. A few of their kind had recently been killed, and rumor had it that they simply faded into the background to gather their forces, only to rise again later. It's been 14 years since they disappeared, though, and there has been no word thus far about their return. Most simply assume they went away.
