Now that Janis had a goal, she went to the crate to have a look at what they had to work with when building a shelter. One large tarp and four foil blankets. Not much but at least it was something. “We should save the blankets for sleeping in”, Janis suggested as she straightened up, taking the tarp out of the crate. “And since there are only four, we’re going to have to double up to share”.
Once again Janis glad that whoever the hell had dressed her had thought to include a baseball cap. It kept her hair out of her face, the sun out of her eyes and would help keep her warm if got really cold at night. Which Janis was fairly certain it would given with altitude and the wind. Since she was thinking about the wind, Janis added out loud, “We should look for somewhere on the leeside, you know sheltered?” Ideally somewhere fairly flat and free of rocks.
“We can use the tarp to make a tent”, she suggested. “We just need some sticks. Rope would be good too but we’d have to make since those that packed the crate didn’t think to include any”, Janis noted sardonically. Though it would be a little time consuming, Janis actually did know how to make rope from grass which they had plenty to work with.
It was one of the skills her father had taught her during their camping trips though Gunnar Bech would have never guess it could come in handy to Janis while she was trapped in Mongolia! Oh papa, als je maar kon nu zien me. Trapped on a Mongolian hillside with a group of strangers. Funny enough, Janis father would have loved this scenario since he was so into wilderness survival.
“What do you guys think?” she asked the few that had stayed behind to help build the shelter while Charlie and the rest were gone off looking for more water. “If anyone else has a better idea, I’m all ears”, she added with a slight smile. Janis didn’t want to seem bossy, like she was telling them all what to do. It was just that she had knowledge about what kind things to do in a situation like this and she figured she might as well share what she knew. They were all in this together, whether they liked it or not.

Glad to be free of Val and Charlie and those she would have stamped as Unit Supporters, Ursula was able to take a cleansing breath and feel the tension in her shoulders relax. Yeah, they were still stuck in the middle of bloomin' nowhere, but that didn't have to be a permanent problem, and as the four others moved further away in search of water and out of earshot for casual conversation, the Australian felt a productive surge race through her at the knowledge of having something to do and having something to plan.
Janis sounded right on the money about where they should set up an impromptu shelter, and the redhead nodded in agreement. If this had been her homeland she would have been eagre to learn how to actually make rope, but Ursula didn't think they really had the time for that right now. She knew Madison wanted to get the hell out of here and Ursula really wanted to follow suit, so a tent with sticks as pegs seemed the best option. There would be more time for discussion then. And frankly, Ursula didn't know if she could trust Asher or Janis not to scream out to the other group, not to try and stop herself and Madison should they choose to run off. Ursula didn't want anyone to get hurt, and slowly an idea formed that night would be the best time to leave, to wait until the others had all settled into sleep and leave under cover of darkness. This wasn't a safe plan at all of course, but planning an escape from an organization that had kidnapped her was not something Ursula had made plans for growing up.
"Nah, it's a beauty mate," Ursula smiled encouragingly. " Though I'd like to suggest boys on one side, girls on the other, see if it's possible if we can put together two separate sleeping areas? Personally I'm tired of having a man underneath me." Ursula paused, then closed her eyes for a moment at how that comment really sounded. "That's not what I meant, you bloody yabbos," she chuckled, cheeks flushing, and quickly tried to change the subject, turning to Asher. "How far do you think you can stretch that piece of paper?"
