Well I havent encountered anything as exciting as I did in Scotland but this morning while waiting for the met to Uni I spotted a Great Spotted Woodpecker in the trees on the other platform. One the way back from the pet shop as I had to get food for the cat, there was a Jay sat on the roof of a house with an acorn in its beak. You can tell Autumn is here ^_^.

Some time when you come down here, I'll have to take you to Arlington Reservoir, lot's of water birds there, you'd love it.

I saw a fox last night ... no, Monday night, sorry. Was walking up to the pub and it was just going into someone's garden as I passed their house. It actually let me take a (very bad) photo of it before going off, so yeay :) Shame the darkness makes the picture damn hard to figure out, but hey. Closes I've got to a wild fox :)

Well, I didn't see much wildlife on biv, though I saw a couple of huntsman spiders when collecting bark (I promptly moved to a safer distance) and I saw a scorpion which was pretty neat.

On Thursday evening, as I was eating in the restaurant, a fox casually crossed the parking of the Travelodge. ;)

I saw a Clusty Munster, A Clan Jackal, a green haired Otter, a Silver fox, a Fenrir like wolf and a yoshi of the tribal variety on Friday :o

Lol ok I havent really seen any wildlife of late which is unusual other than that huge spider outside the Travelodge ^^;.

Okay yesterday or the day before soemthign peculier happened. I was upstairs when I heard a thud at the window. A bird had crashed into the window. I looked down outside and there it was standing cocking its head from side to side. Then it flew off like nothing happened. Wierd. Remindes me of a cat I once had who ran into a glass screen door.

Last night I was driving home from cadets along a rural road, and I saw something run into the middle of the road. I stopped when it became apparent that it wasn't going to run across, and I saw that it was a possum. After a few seconds, i realised that there were two of them, and they were mating in the middle of the road. Thankfully though, they quickly got off the road so I could keep driving.

Well today I drove up to our local nature reserve to see what there was. It was really nice and quiet there ^_^. Perfect for bird watching. The highlight had to be a Great Spotted Woodpecker that stayed for ages on one of the feeders. I would have taken a photo but the flash would have scared it :(. But it was great to see one. ^_^.

At my mum's house we get those in the garden all the time. They like the old Yew trees very much, seemingly.

Awesome! I've gotta take you to Arlington Reservoir some time when you are down here. Lots of water birds there.

On Thursday night I saw two more foxes wandering the back streets of Eastbourne, on my way to work. They looked much healthier and bulkier than others I've seen, which is good for this time of year.

There's a real nice wood right next to where I live so, I've been ticking off a bit of a Farthing Wood checklist!

So far I've encountered:

a fox,
two pheasants,
a kestrel,
heard many owls (or maybe one talkative owl),
a toad (but could've been a frog :/ ),
plenty of rabbits,
a hedgehog,
a weasel that may have been a stoat,
loadsa squirrels...

so I'm well on my way! I've seen a good few molehills, without seeing any actual moles, and not seen an adder yet...I'd love to see a badger too, (I remember seeing some badger-like hair caught in a fence once), that'd be cool..!

Ooo, nice checklist Ranger! My boyfriend and I started the very same thing! I think I may be right in saying that the only creature we have yet to spot is an adder...We've certainly been wildlife watching in areas which are apparently prime adder locations, but haven't been lucky so far. Haven't seen that Massive Debris either, I have to say...

Thanks to Tsuki, I'm inundated with badger sightings :D We went badger watching. It was awesome :D There are some photos in this thread somewhere, I think :D Oooooo I love owls~ We had a pair of barn owls and a tawny owl nesting near our house for a good while...In the family home that is, where of which I don't live anymore...Schade, I miss the wildlife ^_______^

Anyways, today I had a magical Disney Princess moment; I was walking through the busy streets and such to work, humming away to myself, as you do, when all of a sudden something just very lightly brushed the side of my face...I immediately thought "SAC MAGIQUE" but then I turned and saw a perfect female specimen of a sparrowhawk perched on the small tree directly beside me! Omg, it was so close I could have reached out and touched it... We met eyes for a few seconds, and I said "Hello :D" to it...to which it went in a huff and flew off...

Totally awesome experience for a generic walk to work in the middle of a city :D

Tell me color and skinniness and I shall tell you if it is male or female! For I am SNAKE NERD!

Um...well...I heard a squirrel making some racket this morning...and several weeks ago I heard an owl outside my room. And outside Church after working. That one had really deep hoots.

Cool checklist Ranger :)

PAst couple days out on my camp I've seen a bit of wildlife. Had a huntsman on my tent when I was packing it up. Eek! So I just got a stick and brushed it off and moved my tent a few feet away ^^; Saw a few birds around, most notably a bird of prey (porbably a hawk) and a cockatoo. Heard a few kookaburra's around, but didn't see any. Oh, and there were a few Koalas making a bit of noise later in the evening (presumably mating).
