Yeah I agree with you there, it doesn't half tug at the heart strings that one. What adds to it is that all the other Farthing Wood books follow various or groups of characters and then FCB comes along and takes a close intimate focus on one character and his personal, thoughts and emotions for the entire book, so you can't help but be sucked into the journey he goes on and the tragedy of it all.

Really so much popularity for Fox Cub Bold?
I thought it was a little rushed and just not very happy at all. I knew what to expect, obv. but meh, not the best for me. One of my least faves. I can't remember which I like best - perhaps TAOFW itself. Siege Of White Deer Park was worst. Really rushed and dull story I felt. Battle not much happened either? One of the books Path Of The sTORM? they kept going on about their old age which was pretty depressing too, so not my fave either. This post has been edited by Pepper on Nov 3 2009, 03:58 PM |

Can I add that I thought there wasn't much to the prequel really. Just a book about otters getting killed in various ways, and a few other animals. Not much else. Not even written in the same style as the others (I get it was made later). Dunno, just seemed not to happy either. What a note to leave on - Fox Cub Bold and the prequel!
