FATHER: Jacob Ayers. 44. Business Analyst. Hadleigh and her dad get along rather well, as they've bonded over her love of athletics. He's taught her a lot of the things she knows about sportsmanship, even if she's not the best sport.
MOTHER: Abigail Ayers. 43. Personal Accountant. Hadleigh gets along well with her mother, but not as well as she gets along with her dad. They have their arguments at times, but now their distance has made them a bit closer.
SIBLINGS: Jake Ayers. 16. Student. Since Hadleigh acted more like a tomboy when she was younger, she would act more like Jake than a normal sister would. They have a special bond, but they still argue all the time.

HISTORY: Hadleigh Anne Ayers was born in Marquette, Michigan, on a balmy, chilly October night. Her life as a child was...well, in a word: rambunctious. In her parents' words, she was an insane child. She was always doing little "adventures," as she called them. These adventures meant climbing to the very top of the jungle gym and jumping off, or sliding down the stairs in a clothes basket. By the time she was six, her parents doubted that her memory would even hold anymore, since she had hit her head so many times.
But when she was six, Hadleigh had a discovery. She was out skating at the local rink with her parents one December day, and an older boy challenged her to a race. Hadleigh is never one to turn down a challenge, so despite her parents' mad shuffle to catch up, she sped off at a break neck speed (well, for a six year old.) Needless to say, she beat the boy and though she didn't know it yet, she was officially hooked on a relatively new Olympic sport: short track speed skating.
She unofficially skated at the local rink until she was 16, when she finally convinced her parents to hire a coach. Or, so they tried. No one could take the offer seriously. A 16 year old novice who had never been coached before? It was total insanity. To this day, Hadleigh has never had a formal coach, even though she's been in a few competitions.
Her life basically went on without a hitch, except for one time when she was 8. She was staying the night at a friend's house when the oven caught on fire, eventually burning the kitchen down. Everyone was okay, and the house was fine (besides the kitchen) but it instilled a deep fear of fire for Hadleigh. She refuses to address it, however. To her, fears are a weakness, so she tucks it deep down inside. She can now manage oven flames (though she prefers electric) but bonfires and even campfires scare her, though she'd never admit it.
To put it in her own words, Hadleigh describes her life as "boring" and "listless," but she has high hopes for her future. The games aren't far off, and she's excited to go! Now, to fix that coach problem...
