Carrington and his wife aren't exactly the best of friends. In fact, they don't talk to each other at all. Not unless it's extremely important. Things weren't always bad between them. Carey once actually liked her, even thought he'd loved her. He had his reservations about marrying her and looking back on it, he knows he shouldn't have. So what tore this marriage apart? Him walking in on her and a friend of his getting down and dirty. After that, the marriage pretty much ended but rather than divorce her, he stayed married to her. His mother was fond of her daughter-in-law and at her urging, he decided that they'd stay married for another ten years so she could get all the benefits of being married to him.

Though legally his wife, the two lead completely separate lives. They date other people, don't wear their wedding rings, and Carey likes it that way and he was sure she did too. Little does he know, his wife and mother have been in contact. Dear 'ole Mom was "kind" enough to invite her to the OBX for the summer. She's looking to reconcile and Carey will want no part of it, especially when he sets his sights on a local woman. Whether or not her intentions are sincere (his family is loaded) remains to be seen.
