Hi, I'm Daniel, and I'm from Deerfield, Illinois, but now I live down in the northern part of Chicago. I'm 19, and I now go to LUC.

I'm really into punk rock, and have been for years. Some of my favorite bands include Gogol Bordello, FEAR, NoFX, The Kominas, The Clash, Ramones, Black Flag, and Husker Du, but a lot of the time I'm also going into other music like soul, some indie (not just indie pop, but like indie noise music), underground/old school hip hop, metal, reggae, ska, folk and whatever else I'm in the mood for.

I wish I could say I play in a band, but I really don't just yet, because I haven't been able to get a band fully together enough to actually play, but I've been bouncing around the idea of a soul punk band. I also wish I could say I've been to a lot of underground shows, but I haven't mainly because I never heard about them back in Deerfield. Nor can I say that I have punk friends or people I hang out with who are as big of a punk lover as me because there weren't many of those back home. So hopefully this'll help with all three!

  Greetings all,

My name is Bobby, and I am 26. I moved back home to Chicago last august from tucson AZ where i played in some fun bands...one of which came to Chicago with me. We are a band called the Runaway Five, and we play sci-fi chiptune rock..

I am here to collaborate! we program gameboys, build gigantic cardboard robots and like to write songs about old role-playing games..Its nice to see a community of passionate people doing what they love!

We are here to help people book, and hopefully to have people help us book fun shows with kick ass people. Hit us up!!

So I'm Nikki. I live in the west suburbs, I'm 14 and a freshman at Metea Valley. I'm really into Lipstick Homicide, Emily's Army, Anti-Flag, Misfits, Ramones, etc. My favorite band of all time is Green Day. I play guitar, (electric&acoustic), saxophone, and piano. I've been looking around for cool places to see punk shows and shit in Chicago, so any suggestions of places to check out/shows to see would be rad!

hey my name's mike, I'm 22 and live on the northside. I listen to/play stuff like the replacements/the clean/pavement/uncle tupelo/television and tonight's the night-era neil young. noisy, loose and analog grooves, fucked-up jangle americana and tunes to match. if anyone's innarested, maybe we should start a band or something

  Hey everyone,

I'm new to Chicago and really looking to be part of a DIY community. I recently booked a dive bar show, but when I left NYC, I told myself that I really only wanted to play these underground, DIY kind of "venues" (houses, rented spaces, art galleries/studio spaces, warehouses, etc.). Well, I guess it doesn't hurt to start somewhere, so the dive bar it is!

I played an early roll in a big DIY community based in NY called Olive Juice Music. I was something of a staple during the prime Antifolk days, playing small clubs with all the people who came out of that scene (Adam Green, Kimya Dawson (Moldy Peaches), Jeff Lewis, Regina Spektor, Nicole Atkins, etc.). I was the 4th artist to become part of that label... now there are over 140 people that are part of it.

I'm looking to find something unique here... play with cool musicians, share bills with interesting bands and songwriters, play places that are not typical venues.

Can you guys point me in the right direction? (I guess I need to do some homework here and check out some of your listings!)

If people are free on Saturday, July 7th at 10:00, I'm playing Grace Street Tap, on Grace & Western. Yeah, it's a dive bar and I said I wouldn't play those but this came my way, so I took it. For future shows, I hope to play one of these kind of nights -- please let me know if you know of anyone/anything/any place that might be interested in putting something together. You can check out my music and other stuff at randirusso.com.

Thanks for reading! Hope to meet like-minded people soon!

I go to Tribecca Flashpoint Academy where i study recording arts. I've only been to one show since i moved here (Raw Nerve's last show at the Mousetrap), but it was fucking amazing and I look forward to going to as many as I can.

I'll be at the Needles show this weekend. stoked.

Eddie Kobane Posted on Apr 4 2012, 09:59 PM
Hi, I am Eddie. I have been going to punk shows in Chicagoland since I was 14. I am almost 29 and have been in a bunch of bands that didn't really ever do much besides my band Kobanes I have been involved with for about 4 years now. I am hoping to meet some new people and eventually do a pop punk hardcore band that sounds like the wonder years or transit in the next year and still do Kobanes. I usually book shows for touring bands too and most of ours, but we are writing a new record soon so won't be playing much for awhile anyways. rolleyes.gif
