Job Description
Alpha
Leader
Two, one male on female
The alpha’s of the pack are the leaders. There are only two alphas, a male and a female, and they are generally mates. It is the job of the alpha to keep the order of the pack.
Beta
Secondary Leader
Two, one male on female
Second in line next to the alpha. Like the alpha position there are usually two in the positon, a male and a female, who are mates. However, the betas still have to request permission of the alpha in order to breed. Being second in line they are the most trusted members of the pack to the alpha. In the event that an alpha passes the beta may take up the role.
Delta
Police
four or less
The delta ranks allows four members. The main concern of these ranks is the well-being of the pack. They’re duties include: regulating fights that may break out within the pack, and keeping the pack together as a whole. Although these ranks may have more than two members it is not likely, as the members of this rank are the most respected of the alpha.
Gamma
Guards
Eight or less
These are sort of like the Delta, but of lower rank and respect. They are like the helpers of the Delta wolves. If one Delta is hurt, two Gamma's come in to help him. These wolves usually are given high standards by the Alpha and Deltas.
Epsilon
Pup Care
One Member (Generally Female)
This is most likely a female rank but occasionally a male may take this rank. The Epsilon on the pack is in charge of the well being of the pack pups. Since the pups are usually the alpha and beta’s pups there is a lot of weight on this job. In the event that there is no pups in the pack the Epsilon take on the role of hunter and police, as they are in the middle of the two ranks.
Zeta
Hunt Leader
One or Two
The Zeta is appointed by the alpha and there main job is leading hunts when they do arise. The rank of Zeta is a tough one because they run the risk of losing it and moving to Iota if they have a spell of unsucessful hunts.
Iota
Hunters
Unlimited
Iotas are the hunters of the pack. Them, and the Zetas, have there own 'community' within the pack. Generally the candidates for this pack are hard working and trustworthy.
Kappa
Sentry
One or two
Although watching the pack borders is a general ‘do’ in pack life this wolf job is to watch the pack borders. These wolves are generally solitary because they spend most of their time around the packs border. Members of the Kappa rank are ‘in training’ for the Delta rank.
Sigma
Pack Bulk
Unlimited
Similar to the Upsilon rank. These rank is another bulk rank made up of pack members who have been a part of the pack for a while. The alpha feels fairly comfortable with these members. A sigma’s only duty is to help newer members in the way of the pack.
Upsilon
Pack Bulk/New Members
Unlimited
This makes up the bulk of the pack. All new members join as an upsilon until they prove to the alpha(s) that they are worth a rank. For the most part it is easy to move out of this rank and moving up happens sporadically.
Omega
ScapeGoat
One
The lowest ranking adult member of the pack. These wolves play an integral role in the pack hierarchy as they allow a ‘comic relief’ to the pack. In most cases the wolf in this position was given the omega rank in place of being banished. There is only one wolf in this rank. If a new wolf becomes the omega the current omega will be bumped up to upsilon.
Pups
Offspring
Unlimited
Most the alpha's offspring they are important because they represent the next generation of the pack.
