seventh year, slytherin, halfblood

• well-known to be a halfblood, she has not made many friends of the purists in her house. it is her no-nonsense, determined nature that's landed her in slytherin house, along with a need to succeed and to prove her own worth. she's definitely got a chip on her shoulder, and quidditch is just one outlet for dispelling any doubts anyone might have about her. her nickname, "winky", is all the way from second year, when she was struck by a bludger during the first match. it left one eye swollen shut for the rest of the match when she refused to exit the field and accept medical attention, and made a rather gruesome, bloody sort of wink that's still talked about to this day.

• she works hard in most aspects of her life, as much as any respectable hufflepuff, and makes very good marks. determined and even stubborn in most of her pursuits, she's got a hardheaded and inconsiderate aspect of her personality that many might find un-effeminate and something of a turn-off. despite that, she is not wholly unladylike - she just hasn't got the time to waste on any extra effort to that end.

• her relationship with her team is a difficult one - in part, because she is a halfblood, but especially because she is a female. rather transparently, her harshness seems to be a conscious punishment for doubting and criticizing her; she doesn't take well to misogyny or discrimination of any kind. because of this, life can be a bit difficult for her in 1942.

• while they might not have respected her at first, her business-like and harsh approach to preparing them has turned a few toward a grudging respect; at the very least, it can't be said that she doesn't put the time and effort in. she grills her team hard, making them run laps when she thinks they're slipping and calling early, early morning runs and practices in the worst of weather. for all that she seems a stickler for the rules, she does not discourage them playing dirty, and has even been known to give a few pointers on the subject.

• often, she can come off as unfriendly for all that she hates to waste her time and energies on anything that will not produce results. selfish and, on occasion, abrasive, she hasn't taken particularly well to her rival captains. she has a particular dislike for both rudolf brand (gryffindor) and dai llewellyn (ravenclaw), though her dislike is admittedly more focused on the former, who has - somewhat condescendingly - hit on her in the past and been rejected quite harshly.
