POUR MILDRED (I don't have many ideas. :[ )

Miriam Strout (5th year Hufflepuff)
Most potential here. Miriam's is into healing. It's a hobby of hers. I mean, not a hobby, but she finds the subject infinitely interesting and enjoys practicing the fundamentals of the concepts that she does have a grasp on. Being rather conscientious, she only practices what she knows and so she's always trying to expand her knowledge of healing. She sort of runs a background operation of healing whoever's got the guts to come up to her and ask her. I think Spleen was going to confront her about this, but I was lame and never started that thread. So. Yeah. |:

Anyways, I don't know if Mildred would have a similar reaction or not, which is to question Miriam's actual knowledge and then try to supplement it so she doesn't kill anyone. She also might have a different reaction that could be infinitely more interesting, but I'm sort of rambling now. Last thing, Miriam is a very quiet person, she hates incessant chatter and raucous behavior unless it's coming from her friends, even then never participating. So, I imagine she may be an alright companion should Mildred ever need an apprentice. Just a suggestion. -hides-

Antioch Arthur Longbottom (7th year Gryffindor)
I think Arthur will be a either a visitor or a patient in the hospital wing in the coming months (not completely established yet, but one of the two). I don't think that any interaction he'd have with her in that time would be very interesting, though, but tell me if anything can happen in that time period.

Aspin O'Hare (4th year Slytherin)
The thought of Aspin injuring herself is laughable. Unless she's faking it. Which is actually completely plausible. Mildred would presumably be able to tell if she were faking it and so ... if her reaction is great and almighty, then we can make it happen. (;

yes that makes sense. darren's quietness and respect would sit well with mildred, although she is wary of being pitied. she would take very good care of him if he comes in with an injury (particularly a serious one) and that might be the best time for them to properly get along. she often relates to people better as patients and afterwards. i think she would definitely give him reason to trust her. we could definitely do something with them!

LOL yeah he wouldn't impress her. she wouldn't actually directly tell him off though - she's not a great enforcer of the rules. she wouldn't be dismissive of his injuries when he came in, but her attitude towards him would be mostly like he was a child, and i think it's treating people like him that makes her most frustrated with hogwarts. it would cause her to roll her eyes to spleen afterwards and maybe make semi rude comments about their job. sooo.

well dorcas would also strike mildred as a child. i don't think she'd see herself as having a lot in common with dorcas, obviously, and not find her either objectionable or very fascinating. she would be sympathetic as a healer if dorcas ever needs help, but not inclined to reach out to her, and she doesn't really usually get over first impressions, so she would be unlikely to reevaluate her opinion of her unless given direct reason to do so. she wouldn't have anything strongly against her though

she'll be very helpful to him, but again not really sympathetic. i think it is very hard for mildred to have to deal with stupid stunts from school boys, having come straight from treating dying soldiers...she is sympathetic to her pateitns though, regardless of circumstnace, and particularly when he gets purpled, she will be at his disposal. school rules don't matter to her that much and though turning purple is not the same as having your arm cursed off, she will be sympathetic to his impulse to keep to himself and not personally try to get him out.

all of mildred's healer training comes from experience rather than schooling. she is really instinctive andfast at picking things up, but not very good at explaining difficult concepts or articulating what she's doing consistently. so she might be not a very good concious teacher. she would like miriam's ambition a lot though and would be fine with her being around/lending a hand - in fact she would encourage that and sort of expect miriam to learn the way did: without a lot of formal instruction.
i don't know if she would disapprove of what miriam does the way that helbert does. she would kind of see that as admirable (not the ruckus the girls kick up but miriam taking it on herself to fix them) and good practical experience. she probably wouldn't interfere if helbert was dealing with it but it might cause her to invite miriam to help out in the hospital more so that she could get some practice for things she did herself. she would definitely be a good companion for mildred and she would be happy to encourage her. she finds it easier to be close to people she treats than people she works with BUT she respects people she works with a great deal.

um she would not have a lot of patience for having her time wasted on faking and would definitely send her away almost directly. it could be funny. her opinion would not be high of aspin after that. she's not really like an angry person exactly, but she is directly dismissive of people she finds distasteful. soo

is a pretty regular visitor to the hospital wing because of his complete disregard for his own personal safety, so i'm sure she'll get to know his face! he also tends to move very quickly and speak very quickly so maybe the first time they meet he could give her a fright by accidentally sneaking up on her?

is also a reasonably frequent visitor to the hospital wing, but more so because a potion has exploded in his face or he's gone and tripped up a flight of stairs with an armful of books or something equally less cool. he's also seriously uninformed about the war, so he might ask her questions about it and not really realise that it might be a sensitive issue.

catriona
is another frequent visitor to the hospital wing, and more often than not because of her own temper than anything else. um, she doesn't think before she speaks so she'll probably come across as quite rude and insensitive to mildred. i imagine the first time she met her it would be kind of a ~who the f are you, where's spleen? kind of reaction. she might also ask about her arm, and realise AFTER that it's probably none of her business.

i don't know if she's ever in the hospital wing, since she rarely if ever gets sick/injured/etc., although she MIGHT visit jon dawlish if they're currently on speaking terms, hahaha. as for mildred, she would probably be shocked by her injury and have lots and of pity for her, since may wouldn't otherwise know how to react. she's very disconnected from both wars, tbh, since she's not really a political sort of person at all.

has a remarkable talent for avoiding the hospital wing, really. he definitely doesn't know her and wouldn't really want to, since blood traitors confuse him immensely and he doesn't like being confused. um. if he was to meet her, he'd probably be skeptical about women in war (even as a nurse) and generally dismissive. uh. i think she was a seventh year when he was a first year?

he is definitely too loud for her to like at all, i'm sure, although he would respect her war effort very deeply and would perhaps try to tone himself down for her sake, although i doubt he would succeed. um, i don't think he's a terribly frequent visitor to the hospital wing, but he'll be petrified later in the year and mildred can feel secretly pleased that the loud obnoxious boy is finally quiet.

is a frequent visitor to the hospital wing, from one of his scuffles with the other half of the hufflegang or if smith accidentally actually caught him one in the jaw and he's not about to episkey himself. um, like miriam, he's got a knack for healing spells and has a minor reputation for healing people with minor bumps who come up and ask - not that a week is really long enough for mildred to hear about that, probably. um. if he ends up, he might ask her a few questions about healing spells, since he's all determined to be a healer. not terribly interested in the war effort, though, and her injury will make him incredibly uncomfortable because he'll feel like he shouldn't be smiling around her.

was a second year during her seventh year, i believe, not that they would have known each other at all. janus is probably an occasional to the hospital wing when his stupid stunts go wrong, and he's bent on getting the hell out of england as soon as he graduates and gets cursebreaker training. he might occasionally grill mildred on minor healing charms and things like that from his bed if he's laid up for a while, although he's sort of a self-absorbed jerk and can occasionally come off like that. um, he'd be polite nonetheless and would feel bad about her situation.

LOL she would find him ALARMING. also like a little foolish, bc he's just inviting injury which is a little wasteful and pretty childish in her eyes. still, she'll take good care of him when he's injure and if they got talking that way, i think she'd think he was quite nice.
if he sneaks up on her though, she'll start like, sweating/shaking and have to sit down. LOL could be funny.

she'd probably think damocles was kind of sweet though, in a way. at least, more so once she's a little more used to the school particularly. she'll always help him out and probably carefully steer the conversation away from that issue. she doesn't necessarily hold questions against people (she understands the curiosity), she just is wary of setting herself off, and also finds it a little alarming to have her identity appear so centered on her injury.

yeah i can imagine that they would be in pretty different places. mildred wouldn't really be offended by cat bc she's just a little girl, but she might react not so well to too many questions that made her uncomfortable, and push right past them. LOL idk if she would be delighted when cat came in but anyway she'll patch her up.

she'll be disturbed by the basilisk thing and i think it will make her take her job more carefully. likely she won't know about him until then, but she'd take very good care of him, once he's petrified. mildred doesn't actually dislike loud people; she just can't totally handle being around them.

mildred would be interested to answer his questions, and probably think he was pretty promising. she has no problem talking about her actual work, or sharing it with others - though she'll think she's a less efficient teacher nowadays. anyway, if he ends up there, they could definitely start talking and she'd probably enjoy that. she would have liked to have had someone to learn from earlier, and she tends to be drawn to practical learning, rather than book-learning, so she wouldn't mind showing him things...as much as she can in his condition. i think they could be on quite good terms? particularly if hse met him by treating him, bc she relates to people best that way.

is almost never in the hospital wing so i doubt they've got much interaction. however, if she were to have an accident or something, she'd find mildred kind of odd and generally be out of her comfort zone around her; she doesn't like to see reminders of the fact that other people have legitimate reasons to be miserable. that said, she'll afford mildred much more sympathy than she might usually give on account of the fact that she quite clearly has more problems than her peers... so. idk. she'd probably be her usual bonny wee self

is IMPRISONED later in the hospital wing after collapsing, as we all know. he'd be generally resentful of being in hospital but it would be difficult to tell and he'd be pretty out of it for a few days anyway. he'd be nothing but courteous to her even when injured which might be a little disturbing, especially with his mechanical kind of courtesy. but he wouldn't mention her arm (because that would be really rude, and foras is not rude) or even appear to be bothered by it. he'll also be in there semi-regularly when the basilisk is released and john is petrified, though he'll be keeping that on the down-low. so idk. maybe they could strike an accord or something.

the kid who should have a revolving door installed for him, nbd. he probably, even though he's hellishly anti-purist, finds her a little difficult to deal with... he's not an easy person by nature and the fact he's so loud and stuff probably doesn't greatly endear them to one another. i think he'd be pleasant enough, but he probably tries to avoid her for both their sakes; he hates making people upset, but a lot of his mannerisms are exceptionally difficult to control. they've probably had more than their fair share of encounters even this early on, though, percy being percy

isn't in there as often as dai, but when he is it's generally for similar reasons. he's a lot calmer when he's on his own, and i think he'd like mildred a lot BUT also probably avoid the subject of the war. the jorgensen name is probably one she recognises as an important grindelwald supporter one, which i don't imagine will endear her, but if she says anything then brede will distance himself from his family immediately. come to think of it, he might outright say that they're nothing to do with him as soon as he finds out where she's from. so they could be cute

wow really scared of her, and also of the arm. literally petrifies him. probably pisses himself whenever he sees her, and generally does not fool around at all in her vicinity. wonders constantly what she's doing at hogwarts.

would really like to dig up some story about her, because it would be fascinating, but at the same time be pretty wary of the dangers of that. she's be especially curious as to how the arm was lost, and also of the many affairs...

RUDOLF

rudolf would probably either get killed or drawn into the propaganda, since he's easy to sway if given the right APPEAL. though if his fellow comrades/soldiers got killed in front of his eyes, he'd probably object, and then get killed too.

ANTARES

although her family COULD be more prominent, she's a pureblood so that passes his tests of propriety. he probably be drawn into her line of thinking fairly easily - and as he's also hardworking and loyal, wouldn't do too poorly.

corabear, this is for mildred:

kettleburn: maimed faculty unite!! kettleburn is probably the teacher who uses the hospital wing the most, on the account of being bitten by various creatures at all times of day, and the amount of injured students resulting for his class (oops). he compensates by being laid back and friendly and probably attempts small talk whenever he's being healed. they could always bond over their missing body parts, but i doubt mildred really likes remniscing about the war :/

miranda: is a really sweet and shy girl, who would have no real reason to visit the hospoital wing more times than a normal student, but she's extremely talented with charms and is attempting to learn wandless magic too, so if she ever found out mildred is doing the same she could lend her books and whatnot.

augusta: aggie is in duelling club, and ocassionally visits the hospital wing. she'll get into a huge duel wiht walburga in the near future and end up in the hospital wing, so there's always that.

lucretia: lucretia is aloof, tends to keep to herself and is quite repressed. she's very responsible, serious and a sticler for rules. i think all her serious and strict demeanor often leave lucretia with tensional headaches and other physical symptoms of stress, so she probably visits the hospital wing for potions and whatnot from time to time. she's a moderate blood supremacist, but she's not really vocal on her opinionio, and instead just keeps away from the people she's supposed to avoid. i doubt she'll be mildred's favorite person in the world and vice versa, but i imagine they can civilly tolerate eachother?
