Saturday came round, and Otis Bagman was genuinely thankful for the fact that he didn't have a class to dodge that morning. After all, he'd been up 'til about four the morning before, drunkenly shooting the shit in the kitchens with a load of elves and Willy Wagstaff. One couldn't be expected to recover from that easily, right? Figuring he could check the sign-ups when they got down there, he'd done absolutely nothing in preparation for today; fuck's sake, he'd hardly even rolled out of bed fifteen minutes ago. With thankfully no hair to run a comb through, he'd more or less just stuck a toothbrush in his mouth and jerked it around for half a minute before spitting and trekking down to the basements.

Harassing the password out of a second year was easy as anything, and the Ravenclaw had to wonder just how secure this system was as he pushed through the portrait hole into the Hufflepuff common room. Toothpick jammed between his teeth, taking the place of a desperately needed fag, he peered around the room with a signature surly glare. There were a couple greetings from a couple delinquent boys, and he gave them half a nod before crossing the room toward what he assumed to be the girls' dormitory entrance.

"Oi!" he shouted up it, romantic as ever. "Oi, Cat, get your ass down here!"

She was awake - only just, but awake was awake regardless. Just because she had spent a good ten minutes glaring into an empty space and making as little movement as possible did not mean she was any less awake. Just because she was awake didn't mean she had to want to be. What was the point in rushing to be up and about, anyway. It was a Saturday, after all - wasn't that the whole point of a Saturday? It couldn't be said that her mind was wandering from any one subject to another, rather it was as blank as her glare was when a familiar voice interrupted it's, well, emptiness. Her eyes snapped from the empty space to the doorway and she began shifting very slowly, swinging her legs out from the covers and flinching as her bare feet came into contact with the floor.

"Yeah, alright - I'm comin'!" It wasn't a lie. She was coming - she just wasn't particularly speedy about it. Chucking a toothbrush in her mouth she went about sorting the rest of herself out. She didn't hover in front of the mirror or take a considerable amount of time picking and choosing an outfit and she certainly didn't expend any effort into styling her hair. Rather she pulled on the most comfortable clothes within sight (which included a Prides jacket she was quite proud of, having transfigured one of her brother's old sporting jackets purple and gold with a large Prides emblem emblazoned on the back) and gave up on her bed-hair as a lost cause.

It was only a matter of minutes before she emerged somewhat groggily, hands dug deep into her pockets, and greeted him affectionately as ever, "Ai up, you alright?"

"Hurry up, then!" he answered irritably, and went about finding something to distract himself. A third year fulfilled this itch, and he took to harassing the poor boy until Catriona made it downstairs. By the time she'd come down, he had almost been thrown out twice, once by a prefect and once by a seventh year who was nearly a foot over his head; both were deterred by a nasty grin and a hand meandering toward the pocket of his trousers. Nearly everyone had seen Otis Bagman twirling around his pocket-knife, but no one was particularly itching to see it in action, he reckoned.

Giving her the usual once-over, Otis kept his eyebrow quirked and the toothpick fixed in his teeth. "Yeah, alright," he answered with a one-shouldered shrug and a glare around the common room. "'Bout you, babe?" he added, running a hand over short hair and itching a bit. His manner of dress was as it always was -- poor. A thin, white undershirt was worn under a bulky jacket that was a size too big for him, with sleeves that had to be pushed up for all their extra length; his slacks were another story, worn and a little dirty at the cuffs. All in all, he looked less than put-together, and it was plain that, if this was a date, he was not putting much effort into it. Glancing toward the portrait, he jerked his head, and started to walk off before she'd answered.

Hardly used to having to rush around for anyone Oats call hadn't done a thing to quicken her pace. She mirrored his one-shouldered shrug, pulling a hand out of her pocket to lightly slug him on the shoulder as he gave her a quick once-over. Affectionately, of course. "Yeah, alright m'self. Saturday, innit, doesn't get any better than that." Tucking her hair behind her ears before she dug her hand back into her pocket she eyed the common room quickly, having a look to see the sorts that were floating around and smirking at the few eyes fixed on Oats.

In all likelihood Otis had expended even less effort on readying himself than she had - but if that was the case it wasn't by much. Call her cracked, but she didn't get the point in spending hours in the morning readying herself - she'd much rather stay snug in her bed for as long as she could push it. Which probably had a lot to do with her general tardiness, but what the hell. Half a pace behind him, at the most, and smirking she gestured over her shoulder towards one of the taller blokes in the common room. The one looking particularly irritated. The look on his face was near priceless, actually. "Can't've been stuck down here for too long - how come he looks so harrassed, then?"

"Yeah," he agreed as he brought a hand up to touch his shoulder with a crooked grin. Dropping the hand into his pocket afterwards, he rolled his neck a little. "Ey, can't help myself 'round such a good-lookin' girl," he told her, dropping a wink that looked decidedly sleazy when paired with the grin, the toothpick and the general presence that was Otis.

Following her gaze, his steps slowed for half a second as he fixed him with a leering grin. "Must jus' be his face. Poor bastard," he answered with a shrug, that same grin lingering on his features as he pushed the door open, holding it as an afterthought, with his back to it. Watching her closely, much the same as he had when she first came downstairs, he smirked. "Ladies first, innat how it goes?" he asked, giving her a smack on the ass that was both to hurry her through the portrait hole and negate any chivalry in the gesture.

"Aren't you a real charmer," His words were greeted with an exagerated eye-roll, and her own were followed by a small chuckle, "Can't say I really blame ya on that one, but," she joked. Alright, so perhaps most girls would have found Otis' antics anything but flattering or entertaining - but since when had Catriona McCormack ever been considered anything like most girls. Whatever.

"Yeah, something like that," she afforded the glaring Hufflepuff one more amused smirk before stepping through the portrait hole while Otis held it open - the sight of which was amusing in itself. The tap didn't go missed. "Oi, watch it, yeah?" But there was no trace of animosity in her voice, rather she was smirking as she glanced at him over her shoulder. Coming out of the portrait hole with nothing that could be considered grace, but at least some semblance of balance, she crossed her arms across her chest lazily.

"Come on, then - we aint got all day," the smirk hadn't left her lips, and her eyes were now decidedly less groggy and much more awake than they had been moments before.

Toothpick shifting to the other side of his mouth as he deliberately made his grin a bit -- well, creepy, the boy nodded in agreement. "Dunno who could," he offered by way of compliment; really, it was the best a girl could hope for from the likes of Bagman.

"Yeah," he answered immediately, sounding a little cheeky, his grin leering and wide to the point of obnoxiousness. It as an inscrutable expression, despite it being one complete with a grin, and it was difficult to say whether he was being genuinely sleazy or just joking. Lazily moving from his spot at her bidding, letting the portrait swing shut behind him, Bagman fell in next to her with his hands shoved in his pockets. Expression now ornery as ever, toothpick being chewed mercilessly, he began their walk toward the grounds; he itched his chin on his shoulder, mostly because he was too lazy to pull his hands out of the pockets of his overlarge jacket. "Ey," he said, pausing in front of the familiar portrait of a still life. "You hungry there, Cat?"

Being a Hufflepuff had its perks regardless of what some might think – and having dormitories and commons located in the basement was by far one of the better perks. It may have meant bumping into Slytherins on a more regular occasion than the other two houses, but that was a worthy trade-off when you were as close to the kitchens as the Hufflepuffs were – in her opinion, at least. It sure saved the hassle of waking up at any remotely early hour on the weekends.

She barely took a moment to consider his question, “Yeah – famished, actually. Good call.” Rather than waiting for Oats’ response she had dug a hand out of her pocket and stretched across to tickle the pear before she’d so much as finished her sentence. She had never been one for skimping on meals or avoiding eating, well, anything really – having grown up in a house where it was quite literally survival of the fastest come meal time she’d never had the chance to develop any remotely feminine attitudes towards eating. And now that she had gotten to thinking about food she couldn’t shake it from her mind.

Not bothering with ladies first, Otis slouched into the kitchen as soon as the portrait was out of the way. Greeted by a clump of elves in the back, there was a small chiming of Mister Bagman as he stepped in. "Y'alright," he muttered, habitually giving one a proper ruffling on a hairless head, succeeding only in flopping its ears comically.

Promptly offered several different things, he accepted them all, and took a seat, quite informally, on the floor. Bony knees drawing up close automatically, he accepted the glass of pumpkin juice as it was handed over, and gestured Catriona over via a slap to the stone floor. "Cop a squat, babe," he said through a grin, eyebrows jumping in a manner that was, as ever, borderline sleazy.

Letting the portrait swing shut behind her she regarded the swarm of house elves with the same mild curiosity that she always did. They were funny things, weren’t they? Certainly nothing like the likes of them in the muggle world – and she still hadn’t quite gotten over just how amusing their antics were. She smirked as Oats ruffled ones hair – the sight of its ears flopping really was comical, and almost didn’t notice the elves that had begun to gather around her.

Gladly accepting some of the offered food, eyeing it greedily all the while, she happily slid onto the floor beside Oats with a “Yeah, alright”, barely waiting before shovelling a forkful of scrambled eggs into her mouth. In an almost rare display of table manners she swallowed her mouthful, joking as she scooped more onto her fork, “Seriously, what’s the point in trecking it to the Great Hall when these little fellas are just hanging out for some company?”

Half-watching her as she was seated, already grinning not-so-charmingly around a mouth that was overfull of toast, Otis lounged back and - uncharacteristically - shared his food with her without fuss or comment. Shaking his head, though obviously agreeing, he washed down the food with a generous gulp before wiping the corner of his mouth on the shoulder of his jacket. "Don't see the point of bein' in any house but Hufflepuff," he added, quirking an eyebrow as he tore off another bite in a manner that bordered on downright crude. "If I'da known it was this close to a stocked kitchen, right?" he added, mouth full again. Finishing up the toast, he brushed the crumbs off his face, and then off his pants, much to the dismay of a nearby elf - who, hilariously enough, handed him a napkin.

Wiping his face with it, delicate as ever, he let it drop into his lap again as he began to go at some eggs with unchecked enthusiasm. "So," he said at length, after having gorged himself shamelessly for a fair amount of time. "You wantin' t'fly when we're done, or what?"

Nodding, chuckling, and swallowing – in that order – she lifted her attention from the plate of food to him, an unmistakeably impish grin having taken residence on her features. “Sure got that one wrong – didn’tcha? Couldn’t’ve gotten further away,” the idea of living in the Ravenclaw tower was apparently pretty damn amusing given her current expression. But the amusement didn’t subdue her appetite, and not a moment after she was done talking she was chewing on another mouthful of food.

Her table manners were about as impressive as his own. Wiping her mouth against the sleeve of her jacket she nodded, her eyes having immediately lit up at the mention of a flight. Really, she was not difficult to impress. “‘Course,” the moment the last of her mouthful was swallowed the impish grin was back on her face, “If y’reckon you can keep up with me, y’know. Don’t wanna go embarrassin’ you or nothin’,” she met his eyes – the challenge, regardless of how light-hearted, blatantly present.

Nodding his agreement, looking properly put out for this perceived loss, Otis said nothing. Instead, he continued to eat his eggs with renewed vigor, oblivious to such frivolities as table manners. Eating as though to make up for this extra effort by consuming twice as much with every visit to the basements, he managed to down a very remarkable portion. Truly, it was almost a wonder that Otis could put away so much food in a sitting.

"Oh, fuck off," he replied good-naturedly, even grinning. It could even have been called affectionate. "See who's embarrassed, won't we?"

She may have found the sheer amount of food that he was consuming surprising had she now grown up with three older brothers, each of whom had seemed determined to out eat the last. Meal times in the McCormack home were more of a free-for-all than anything else – starting with a mad rush to the table the moment the plates were down and not finishing until every last scrap was gone, cueing a raucous argument over the responsibility of the cleanup. Leftovers were a thing of myth. It had been something of an adaptation to come to Hogwarts and being able to eat leisurely without the risk of having to go without.

A broad grin plastered on her lips she rose her eyebrows, “We’ll see about that – how ‘bout it then? Done stuffin’ your face?”

Finding her competitive nature, as he often did, something more endearing than irritating, Bagman snorted. Offering her little more than a glance out of the corner of his eye, he made a face. "What?" Otis let out a note of laughter, ungraceful and even uncouth in sound. He had clearly heard her though, because a moment later he was snatching another piece of toast and folding it over, taking a large bite and holding it in his mouth as he moved swiftly to his feet. True to form, even the manner in which he held out his hand to help her up, eyes fixed elsewhere, seemed impolite and careless; with his free hand, he scratched his head. "Am now," he managed around the food sticking out of his mouth, and then seized hold of it again in order to tear a sizable chunk off and chew.
