NICKNAMES
Gen, Genny, Weasley, Ginger, even the occasional Viv—whatever people seem to think of, they’ll toss Gen’s way. While she answers readily to just about everything, she prefers Gen or Weasley, despite their overabundance at Hogwarts.
AGE
Eighteen, as of 13 October.
WAND
Gen’s wand is made of black walnut with a dragon heartstring core. It is eleven and three-quarters inches long, a petty vengeance for Bobbie’s almost invisible advantage in height, and quite sturdy. Like its wielder, it has a knack for Defense Against the Dark Arts and more aggressive Charms, although it tends to be temperamental when used to poke little brothers.
APPEARANCE
People might call the Weasley twins “cute.” Gen doesn’t know; she’s never had anyone call her that. As would be expected of anyone born and raised in Burrow, she looks like a Weasley: ginger hair and even eyebrows, freckles from the rather extended time she spends out-of-doors, and an easy, ready smile. Like Bobbie, she’s rather short, and their ongoing disagreement over who, if either, is actually taller.
However, unlike Bobbie (for once, although Gen tends not to notice their similarities in favour of their quite striking and very noticeable differences, thanks), she is athletic and slim, thanks to all the time she spends playing Quidditch. Due to all the time she spends on the move, she’s pretty comfortable with herself, despite her lack of height; even if she doesn’t have the reach of the best Chasers, Gen is fast on a broomstick and small enough to get out of the way of Bludgers sent her way by even the nastiest Beaters.
If Gen was going to be honest with herself, she’d have to admit that she has no idea where her hair falls naturally. Since it’s usually pulled up in a tail or braided tightly and pinned up for games or rolled into a knot at the back of her head and she hasn’t really paid attention to her haircuts for years now, she would guess that it fell somewhere just past her shoulders—but don’t quote her on it. It’s very, very red, though, and she’s proud of it and the fact that it lets the rest of the world know she’s a Weasley and therefore proudly progressive.
For all that the Weasleys have very little money for nice clothes, Gen still tends to carry herself like she’s worth a million Galleons. It’s difficult for her to pretend that she’s not proud of who she is, and patched elbows and faded robes and skirts with the hems lowered in desperation do nothing to make her any less confident and self-assured.
PLAYBY
Karen Gillan
REPUTATION
Gen is mostly known for four things: she is a twin, she is a Weasley, she is loud and argumentative, and she plays Quidditch. Like Bobbie, she’s well-known and well-liked by most in Gryffindor, although this generalisation has the tendency not to hold when extended outside of the House and Tower. She is known for quite often verging on obnoxious regarding her thoughts on current wizarding politics and blood status, and it’s a joke around Hogwarts about how easily Gen is set off into a temper by any derogatory mention of her family.
