I notice you have never had an avatar Inspector. Is that because you don't like them or because you've never been bothered? I've got this.. thing.. I love designing visual identities. Probably why I'm going for a career in web-design, development and computer graphics. So, because I've got very little to do at the moment, do you want me to make one? I'll make one for anyone really, I recently made some for my friends. I just love making logos and such. I don't know why, I think I just like trying to compress a person's identity into a symbol - like... compiling percepts into concepts! Nah but seriously, if anyone wants one, just ask.

Okay, there's one scene, where you see David Dunn (Bruce Willis' character's) back as he looks out at the stadium in the rain... he's wearing the rain poncho, so you just see the word "SECURITY." I've tried in vain to find a photo online of the exact shot I mean, but there are a few here that show him from other angles, at least. Now, that's the "watchman" part of the title: "Intellectual Watchman." I'm not sure how you would go about adding the "intellectual" part to the equation... Maybe put a copy of Atlas in his hand, lol. But yes, I'm looking for a figure, looking out on a city; keeping watch over it at night. (this imagery is all over, say, comic books such as Batman or Spider Man... although I'm not looking for someone in a garish costume.) An Intellectual Watchman. Can you do something like that?

interesting concept
i am thinking of your security type guy standing on the top of a high building looking out over a cityscape, with the moon high in the night i think the poncho might be odd but perhaps a modified longcoat of some sort.
I am interested in a real avatar but i have no idea how to distil the concept of the Inquisitor down to a small picture. Any ideas?

What is my joy if all hands, even the unclean, can reach into it? What is my wisdom, if even the fools can dictate to me? What is my freedom, if all creatures, even the botched and impotent, are my masters? What is my life if I am but to bow, to agree and to obey?
But I am done with this creed of corruption.
I am done with the monster of "We", the word of serfdom, of plunder, of misery, falsehood and shame.

Yes, I like that. A detective's longcoat. An Inspector's longcoat.
You see how all this ties in?

| QUOTE (DarkReaver13 @ Jun 22 2006, 06:08 PM) | | For an avatar, it may be better to create some kind of logo, which would be a "geometric integration / simplification" of the larger one. My avatar for example. |
Right, but I guess I figure it would have to be derived from the larger one.

That's the word I was looking for.

Amazing. I was a big Warhammer fan when I was younger, and I dare say my artistic style was heavily influenced by it. I've still got all my Eldar figures in a drawer somewhere . The word Inquisitor always reminds me of Warhammer40k. http://www.darkreavers.co.uk/artwork/artwo...cprisonpaintingThat's one of my most recent artworks. Was a long time ago, I'm more into computer graphics these days.

That is where i first met the term and i liked it and made it my own
| QUOTE (Warhammer 40K) | "We are at war with forces too terrible to comprehend. We cannot afford mercy for any of its victims too weak to take the correct course. Mercy destroys us; it weakens us and saps our resolve. Put aside all such thoughts. They are not worthy of Inquisitors in the service of Our Emperor. Praise his name for in our resolve we only reflect his purpose of will."

Although i serve no emperor or nor any god, the sprit of this decree has always struck me as the heart of truth. Through the force of my mind and body i do what i can to preserve civilization, though it rebuffs my efforts i do what i can in spite of it.
If the Inspector is the man who stands on the building tops keeping an eye on the city. I am the Inquisitor walking through all the dark places ferreting out the threats to the world he would make.
Does this make sense or was it a bit abstract?

I'd be interested to even seeing line drawings or whatever early process you go through to generate the final product. Unfortunately i do not possess the talents or the skill to generate anything but the base representation of things. It is a shame that any shed of talent / skill is wasted on some of these "New Age" artist types who make these terrible works they call art and the chattel eats it up.

Hehe ok. I just whipped this up (based on what Inspector said), just to see if I've got the idea right. You may even like it enough to use it, but I dunno. I'll see if I can do an Inquisitor one at some point too, depending on how busy I am. http://www.darkreavers.co.uk/images/inspector256.jpg
