This is a topic to talk about wonders of the capitalist world. It could be a building, book, painting, sculpture, or anything you like. Enjoy!
I'll add: Eiffel Tower, Empire State Building.

Not exactly. I wouldn't consider the USSR a capitalist wonder.

| QUOTE (DarkReaver13 @ Jul 28 2006, 06:47 AM) | The Pyramids weren't, surely?
Created by slavery, created for mysticism. |
There is debate out there if they where done by slaves or not that having been said i don't think the Pyramids are all that neat
a bunch of rocks placed on top of each other... big deal next you will tell me stone henge is neat
now if they had build a skyscraper out of stone, that would qualify
Boulder Dam is a wonder. maybe even the World Trade Center
--------------------
What is my joy if all hands, even the unclean, can reach into it? What is my wisdom, if even the fools can dictate to me? What is my freedom, if all creatures, even the botched and impotent, are my masters? What is my life if I am but to bow, to agree and to obey?
But I am done with this creed of corruption.
I am done with the monster of "We", the word of serfdom, of plunder, of misery, falsehood and shame.

I Thank capitalism for the mass production of toilet paper especially.
If you don't think that qualifies as a wonder, then try spending a week without them.

That's a good one. There are so many things like that, where you don't even realize how important they are, but use them every day.
How about the wonder of extending life expectancy from about 25 to somewhere around 80?

Coca-freakin-cola. Personally, soda has utterly ruined me on anything else to drink. I don't drink water. I don't drink wine. Milk's okay, and juice will do from time to time. But for me, soda is king. Without Capitalism, I would be miserable, beverage wise. Actually, without Capitalism, I'd have died at birth. Medical technology allows premature babies to live. Hmmm, so I nominate myself for the list.

Well as far as I know slaves built them: It ain't my area of expertise though.
I'd say they were very impressive considering the time they were built, the geometric precision of their structure, and feats of engineering required to construct them.
Obviously they were made possible by the reason of some individual or individuals, but I wouldn't call Egypt under the Pharaohs capitalist by any stretch of the imagination.
Stonehenge, hm, again quite impressive considering the time it was built.
Other such things include the Great Wall of China, the Colosseum, Tenochtitlan and Tikal. Depends how you define a wonder really. All these things would have taken considerable planning and effort.

What makes the pyramids so unimpressive, to me at least, is that even with all that effort and mathematics, it all meant exactly nothing because they didn't use it do build anything useful.

Thank you, i was hoping somebody would get it.
The "Wonders" i listed are worthless because they are useless
boulder dam on the other hand is huge and took great engineering to accomplish and get this, it does something

Lol, well obviously yeah, they're just enormously oversized coffins.
What about the Great Wall of China then? It was built by what were pretty much slaves, and its purpose was to keep out the barbarians from the north.
