Professor Dumbledore looked out over his crowd of students and smiled at them beneficently. They were all so unsuspecting, eating away with their usual enthusiasm and joyous abandon. He coughed gently, and the raspy sound echoed throughout the Great Hall. They all looked up, the clattering of silverware ceasing abruptly.
"I am sure that many of you have heard of the Ministry's decision to allow several students to become interns at many of the key departments through the Daily Prophet." He looked out over them, and realised how proud he was that his teachers had fostered the minds of so many brilliant and diverse students. The choice had not been easy.
"I have chosen four students to represent Hogwarts at the Ministry. These students have repeatedly proven themselves to be hardworking, disciplined, and intelligent."
He smiled again, nodding his old head to them all. "I know that they will represent Hogwarts well this summer during their time at the Ministry, and will do well with such an honour."
He gestured to Professor McGonagall, who had been standing behind him with a slip of parchment. "Professor?"
She stepped up to the podium, looking down at the students from over her stern glasses. "The students are..." She paused again, eyes widening for a moment. "Lily Evans, Severus Snape, Regulus Black, and James Potter."
There was a collective silence, but only for a moment, followed by an outburst of quiet murmurs.
