I'm not quite sure what my opinion about him is, to be honest. I like to think that he's not as bad as you and needles '87 say he is (not really a nice person either, but more tolerable), but I'm not really sure. I think that I'll just have to find out what my opinion is of him through the natural course of time.

And no, unless I'm really going amnesiac now, I am certain I have never contributed to these Rejected Lines that you and needles '87 made up about him.

Okay, I wasn't sure if you have!

I thought the personality you came up with him for the Clint Eastwood Universe was fine - and, being as the universe is a more progressive society, I think Sam would be a little more socially liberal. Probably not by much, though.

This one's an oldie, from February 17 of 2008. Of course, this was before I came up with my own variant of the Marty Brown Universe - so this was, essentially, based on Flaming Trails' variation.

Marty: About all that talk about screwing up future events, the space time continuum?

Doc: Well, I figured, what the hell. Come on, son, let's go home!

Marty: Yeah, I hope that my parents don't... Wait a minute! You just called me "son"!

Doc: Well, I adopted you as a baby - as your parents couldn't afford to take care of you?

Marty: Really? Wait! Does that mean I live with you in your garage?

Doc: Uh, no, we live in a house!

Marty: Holy shit! A lot has changed! I guess I don't mind having you for a father, though.

Doc: You'll probably remember soon enough. I know you need your sleep, now - but, tomorrow, I'll take you to the future with me.

That was a good one!

Continuation:

Marty: To the future? I'm actually going to see the future?

Doc: That's correct. I know this must be a real adjustment to you, but I really have been looking forwards to this for a long time.

Marty: You bet it's a real adjustment! Um, what do I now think of, well, my real parents now?

Doc: Oh, you're good friends with them, so you don't need to worry about that. You consider them as an uncle and an aunt. *shakes head* Boy, it's so weird you don't remember.

Marty: Yeah, I guess that can be odd for everyone, even for a scientist. It'll take me some time to get used to all this, that's something I'm sure of.

Doc: I figured that. Don't worry, kid, I'll be with you all the way. I'll explain to your parents that you had a real vivid dream of looking for your parents, so you'll feel the urge to spend some more time with them, the next few weeks.

Marty: Yeah, maybe that might help. *smiles* Thanks, Doc, uh, Dad! You're being a real good friend!

That is a good continuation, EmmettMcFly55! smile.gif

Of course, in my own take of the Marty Brown Universe - poor Marty is going to feel very sad that his father is dead in the new timeline.

I don't think Sam is a horrible person. He's no Santa Claus, but there's worse people than him.

I think, in the end, he truly does love his children. He just has difficulty showing it, and he tends to be a bit set in his ways. I'm thinking that Sam himself was raised by very strict parents.

*some old fogey is griping to Marty Jr about the current youth's taste in music*

Fogey: You are about the fifth kid I met today, who said that he likes Led Zeppelin. Why can't you kids just stick to your own generation's music?

Marty Jr: Well, I fail to see why we should have to!

Fogey: Honestly, it's like you kids can't even make up your mind about which era you like best!

Marty Jr: What is that supposed to mean?

Fogey: Earlier today, some young punk said to me - and I quote: "My favourite bands are Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice in Chains, Wolfmother, and Jet." I mean, honesty - that's two bands from the '70s, two bands from the '80s, two bands from the '90s, and two bands from this decade!

Marty Jr: And what's wrong with that?

Fogey: *sigh* Oh, honestly, if you even have to ask... You kids today are so fickle!

Marty Jr: That is not "being fickle". That is called "opening your mind to a wide variety of rock music". Maybe some of us don't like to limit ourselves to one narrowly defined genre of music, okay?
