I have mixed feelings on the movie. Now, I liked the basic premise of it - four guys go back in time, and one wasn't yet born. The guy that the youngest didn't get along with turns out to be his father. Also, one stays in the past - while the other three elect to go back to their own time.

Now, I greatly would enjoy the movie if it wasn't for the following: gross out scenes, abuse of the F-word, heavy drinking, and emphasis on sex. Now, I am not a prude. I don't mind a little cussing, drinking, and innuendos in movies - but I think there was too much of all that. Also, the characters (especially Lou) were a little too unlikeable.

I also think that Jacob should've gained some brothers and sisters, and the other two couples should've had children of their own. I understand that, with the movie's rating, they were probably limited in what they could do with minor actors - which brings me back to my belief they they should've toned down on the debauchery.

Also, there was a major goof with Jacob's age - especially with the implication that Jacob would be able to engage in underage drinking at Kodiak Resort, due to not being carded. In addition, I see no reason why the older three just don't look like their younger selves to each other.

So, in short, I like the basic time travel premise of the movie - but I don't care so much for the execution of it.

My favorite scenes have got to be with Crispin Glover as the one-armed bellhop.

I can't see myself ever writing fanfic for the movie, since it's a little too over-the-top for liking. My theory on the memories thing, though - would be similar to what I use for Back to the Future. I think the other three would, eventually, remember things both ways - but, since Lou actually lived out his second life, his memories of his new life with be far clearer to him than those of his first like.

I think more time travel movie should make use of the Frequency-type memory change, and make it explicit in the movie. I'm sure the lives of the other three changed even more, than they did for Marty.

Nick and Courtney were married in both timelines so I figured they would be childless in both timelines.

I never really thought about the couples having kids, to be honest. I just assumed Lou and Kelly didn't want anymore after Jacob.

As for the goof in Jacob's age, it could be one of two things. The present time could take place in 2007 or Adam just got Jacob's age wrong. My relatives hardly ever remember my age.

I remember that there is a trope on tvtropes.org called Childfree Is Not Allowed

Well, you do have a point about Nick and Courtney. Maybe they could've still remained being childless, but I think it would've been cool for Jacob to gain some brothers and sisters. Also, I think it would've been cool for Adam and April to have kids - and then Jacob would also have some new cousins.

For what it's worth, I myself am not planning on having kids - but I'm also not planning on getting married.

Then again, Nick and Courtney had a better marriage in the new timeline. Courtney never cheated and she never forced Nick to hyphenate her name onto his.

I completely blame Courtney for their bad marriage in the original timeline.
