I thought we should start a fresh new thread about ideas for alternate universes.

Aside from the major ones, the one that are being included in The Great Chase - here are some others that we have, or have proposed:

Clint Eastwood Universe: EmmettMcFly55 and I share this universe. Due to Marty being stuck in 1885, the technology increases at a more rapid rate. This universe actually entails two major timelines: the Clara Eastwood Timeline and the Claudia Eastwood Timeline. Our main focus would likely be on the latter, though.

Marty Brown Universe (my version): George McFly dies in a tragic car accident on March 15 of 1973. Within time, Lorraine falls in love with Dr. Emmett Brown - leading to the two of them getting married. They then go on to have three more children: Emily, Jules, and Verne. In addition, Dr. Brown adopts Marty, Dave, and Linda.

Marty Brown Universe (EmmettMcFly55's version): In this universe, George McFly dies sometime after the birth of Linda. In short, in this universe, Doc is the biological father of Marty!

Ghost Town Universe: The alternate universe shown in What Is and What Should Never Be. Due to Howard Needles instigating a raid on the gold, Hill Valley becomes a ghost town as of 1959. In this universe, Doc and Marty never met - until "our" Doc and Marty show up.

Narnian George Universe: The alternate universe shown in The Glorious Christmas of Narnia. This is the universe where George McFly lived in the Narnian world for thirty years, having been transported there shortly after having failed to defend Billy Stockhausen.

Family Affairs Triverse: This consists of three major universe. There is the war-torn world that Marty and Artie originate from, the "normal" world that Marty grew up in, and the steampunk world that Artie grew up in. In all three worlds, George managed to defend Billy from Biff with only a brief hesitation.

This one is one that I've considered at some point in the past:

Biff In The West Universe: In this world, Doc Brown is hovering above the River Road Tunnel when he throws the rope to Marty. In addition to him already being close to the ground, Biff now also can't see him clearly, so he's not as shocked and is able to stop his car before hitting the manure truck. He chases Marty up to the tunnel, and as Marty's about to burn the almanac, Biff tries to take it away. Marty throws the almanac to Doc, Biff dives into the DeLorean and accidentally shuts the door in the process, and then, lightning strikes... sending Biff, the almanac and Doc back to 1885.

Or, starting around the same point in time:

Parents Find Out World: Biff chases after Marty and Doc in his car, and gets into a fight with Marty. Doc tries to help his friend, but is struck by lightning. For Marty, all is lost - until his teenaged father shows up and helps him beat Biff. George explains that Doc Brown wrote a letter from 1885 to his 1955 self, asking him to help Marty some way or another. Doc '55, realising that he has to send Marty '55 home, gives George a letter with instructions 'not to open until Marty leaves, and don't tell him', and after Marty '55 leaves, George and Lorraine find out the amazing truth - and are told to help Marty '85. Somehow, they manage to arrive just in time for Marty to be saved.

Those ideas sound good. Like me, you probably already have a lot on your plate - but you should definitely consider expounding on the ideas.

I think I'll start on my first Marty Brown Universe fic, today. I probably won't be doing any longer fics for that universe until next year, at least.

The Family Affairs Triverse is a little more complex - so I'm not even going to start writing for that, right now.

How about a universe where Marty is naturally born in another era? Perhaps, one where Marty is born 20 years later - or maybe one where he was born in 1938?

It's maybe best not to even go there, but I know Flaming Trails did that with his Boy Genius Universe.

Yeah, I have a lot to do. Especially with school starting two days from now, which means that all Bttf work is probably put on hold until I have finally been able to resume my life, as there have been a few major differences (I'm going to another school now, so more kids to adjust to, other subjects, a longer distance, usually I walked to school, now it's almost an hour on my bike, and the fact that it's just been vacation for seven weeks) so don't expect much out of me for the next few weeks.

Anyway, yeah, the Marty Brown fic sounds good, and the ideas of Marty being born in another era sound good, too - but why not simply thirty years later? Or, instead of 1938, 1920, as Doc's best friend who's the same age? Or even 1950, as Doc Brown's natural son? The possibilities are, of course, endless.

Yeah, they are. The reason why I suggested 1938 and 1988, though - is because the former would answer the question that many BTTF fans have probably asked, at some point. As for the latter, it would also answer the question of what if Marty was a teenager today? Would he actually listen to rap, or would he prefer classic rock?

Your ideas sound good, too, though. The possibilities are endless.

I guess it's a good thing you're almost done with your Smarty Marty Universe chapter, then - and then it'll give me some time to work on my Gravestone and Calvin Universe chapters. After that, we then switch gears. I'll try to get both chapters finished by the end of the month, though.

I think if Marty was a teenager today, he would listen to classic rock and modern rock.

I have my own idea for a Clint Eastwood universe:

Marty is stuck in the old west with Doc. Since they're now stuck, Doc started inventing. After Verne is born, Marty and the Browns moved to England. Most steampunk stories take place in Europe, not to mention England is where Jules Verne's stories often take place.

Yeah, you're probably right - just like how "our" Marty has a definite appreciation for older rock music. After all, he knew how to play Johnny B Goode.

I think that sounds like a cool idea. smile.gif What about rock and roll? Would that be invented any time sooner?

Um... and why wouldn't Doc be able to construct a steam-powered time machine in that world?

He could make one. But he doesn't.

I can't exactly see Marty agreeing to the idea of staying in the past - which, I'm guessing, is why EmmettMcFly55 asked. Still, I think the idea might be able to work - and I would be interesting in seeing the result, if that idea ever came to fruition.

I mentioned the Back to the Future/Family Ties combined universe, awhile back. The McFlys would still live in Hill Valley, while the Keatons would still love in Columbus. Perhaps, somewhere around fall of 1989, Alex decides to move to California - having come to the conclusion that working at Wall Street isn't quite everything that he dreamed of. Soon afterword, he and Marty meet. Perhaps, they start out being at odds with each other - but, eventually, the two end up being good friends.

I know EmmettMcFly55 touched on the idea of a world where Marty was never born. There isn't really too much you can do with that, though.

For now, though, the Marty Brown Universe and the Family Affairs Triverse are the only two unwritten universes that I'm seriously considering on expounding. The Family Affairs Triverse, by the way, is heavily inspired by Sliders. Then, of course, there is the Clint Eastwood Universe - which we do now have a few ficlets written for.

Even if Doc does make a time machine, Marty would be married by then so he probably won't want to come back. At least, not to stay.
