Yeah, I don't think Needles was all that popular. If anything, he was probably jealous of Marty's popularity. I never saw Biff as being particularly popular, either.

I think Marty was mostly popular in an average sense. Most people who knew him got along with him, but he's not like "the number one kid" in school.

Marty was awesome. I don't think that he was a loser and even if he was by societal standards who gives a fuck? He did something pretty damn cool in time traveling and he had a girl.

He did seem to be quite popular, though. Perhaps, not the most popular kid in school - but fairly well-liked. I mean, he had a rock band - and he pretty much had all the makings of being a "cool '80s teen". I agree, though, that "being popular" isn't everything.

The same for me. I never was considered "cool" or was all that popular, when I went to school. When I was in high school, I had some casual friends - but nobody that I was especially close to. Of course, I was also sheltered during those years - and I had been home-schooled for about two years prior.
