Title: Anyone Else Miss The Late '90s?
Description: 1997 is almost a decade old now!

You know what? I never thought I'd warm up to the late '90s, but YES, I really like them now. :D

Heck, it almost seems innocent now (even though every decade kinda says this about the one before it). Perhaps because it predated 9/11 and the War On Terror era. Some of the music sucked, but at least it had variety and more ballads. I actually have begun liking the boy band stuff I detested at the time.

The economy was still strong, so it felt "happier" looking back on it now.

Personally, it seems like yesterday to me, but I find it mind-boggling that 1997 is as close to 1988 datewise as it is to now. Pop culturally, it is SO much closer to today, but in a lot of other ways it's really not too separate from the late '80s either (i.e. VHS, cassettes, analog cameras and other "older tech" was still commonly used).

To me, 1998 has the last bit of old-school feeling to it. Nintendo 64 was still hot, and the Internet of then is pretty primitive compared to that of now (despite approaching household status). Still though, all of the '90s have a bit of "new-school ness" to them. Even as far back as 1987, there were bits of pieces of the hip hop/teenybopper culture we're in now.

Personally, the late 90's was a period of huge change for the better. The early 90's was a period of huge change for the worse.

It's weird how quick time passes - was "The Matrix" really 7 years ago?

I miss the 90s. They actually had great shows on Nickelodeon back then.

You know, I don't really know too many songs from the '90s. I was pretty much sheltered during more of that decade, and didn't really listen to anything else besides Christian music. So I kind of missed out on the '90s. One song that sticks out in mind that I really like, though, is Come Out And play by The Offspring! That's a great song!
