im gettin a 360 when its released and was wondering if anyone else was gonna have one soon so i can play with em on some kai 360 games... :P

also, im gonna get xbl with it and am buying a copy of halo2, (posted elsewhere about it) i was thinkin of opening the RTX clan over to live aswell as on kai,

any takes on that or just about gettin a 360 ????

my opinion on the price is that its gonna hold at what it is for at lest 6 months if not 8, cause they are running at like a $200 per machine loss already, lowering prices is only gonna be feesable when the hardware purchase prices come down (and that normally only happens when something else comes out thats better). ie graphics card technology, ram, cpu controllers etc..

i recon they will be at 500 and 650 prices till the end of the year at best :P

speaking of PS3---- just found out last night that ps3 is gonna get an international release date BEFORE THANKSGIVING HOLDIAYS (Nov 24th i think)

thats ALOT sooner than i thought it was gonna be, still not sure if international means everywhere BUT australia and NZ (like the 360 release), or EVERYWHERE including us, eitherway, seems like this time next year PS3 will be in australia :) YAY! :D

crusader... the pic quality looks sweet on a normal tv (as good as the quality of quake 3 is on dual 6600GTs in full vid specs[seen comparisions]), its just that the resolution loss reducese sharpness and therfore depth... but quality is still there.


besides, all the xbox games playd on a 360 have a pic quality increase and processing option increase (AA etc) so playing halo2 on a 360 is better to watch than on a xbox on the same tv

see, i dont like payin for shite, so i end up ****** all my games/music/movies, and ***** all my dvds and console games from video stores, and since ya cant play any pc games online that dont have genuine keycodes, i dont bother with PC ONLINE GAMES, thats why i use kai.. only game ive bought ever is hl2 on steam.....still got all the new games though, like FEAR, DOOM3, Quake4, LOTR BFME2, just use them to play campain modes.

and althou ive got a pretty good pc i still tend to play my xbox and ps2 more, (i think thats cause since i got married and moved house, i now have the pc in a different room to rest of entertainment crap, and its not as convienient to use as when it used to be in my room, before gettin hitched.)

the stupid thing is for me i guess, is that i didnt even buy a 360 for the games atm, just for the future ones, and this way i got it as an anniversary pressie now instead of having to pay for it myself later :P, otherwize id say i would of waited till atleast june (when there was some descent games in shit on it) :lol:

overall, its good, but not great.

the potential is there and thats what pushes the pros over the cons at this stage of its life,

anyway, the system loads the dashboard like a minilla file system, where pressing left and right is like turning a page section in a school file. it has 4 catagories, LIVE, GAMES, MEDIA, and SYSTEM, all self explainitary

in **LIVE** u can download movie trailers, game trailers or updates and demos. get new themes for the 360 chat with friends or look for new ones :P all standard live shite :P

in **games** u can load either xobx arcade games (downloadable thru live) view stats for games, play/load game in tray or check out new demos or reviews of featured games

in **media**, u can watch movies/trailers listen to music and look at pics, u can hook up a camera or ipod/mp3player to is and listen to music on the xbox360 (pretty kewl) or u can stream from a PC <-- thats the shitty part

the only way u can stream media from ur PC is if you have a media centre PC or have service pack 2 installed (both of which I DONT WANT) and event when and if u do have them, u can only stream music and pics, not movies (unless they are WMV files, if at all) .....ive got a modded xbox which plays everything under the sun and has a 160gig HD in it, so i have no real reason to want to use my 360 for media over my xbox....

in **systen** configure ur 360 DUHH! :P, u can also view/delete ur media/ games, files...one thing that confused me was, i got the 20GigHDD and when looking at the space remaining it say 13 gigs!!, it did come pre-installed with some music and a few themes and 1 arcade game, but not FREAKING 7 GIGS WORTH!??? and if the HD isnt required, there cant be any system files for loading the 360 on there (that are large anyway) i know that there is lost space on HDs cause of formattin, if i said that there was 17 or 18 id be ok, but freakin 13!! WTF!? wheres the other 5 or 6.!!?

the button in the middle of the controller opens up a main sub menu no matter where u are in the system, playn game, watch movie, eating cheese. so the advantage of this is say, u can play a game while downloading new stuff of live, listen to music from ur ipod, while playing a game at the same time(no need for custom soundtracks now :P) etc, if and when they get a mod for it, the advantage here can be having a kai engine running while havng the game in the forground :P


it only has 2 usb ports so if u dont get wireless controllers u can only have 2 , unless a hub works?, btw, all the controllers and addon devices use regular usb ports so id say that keyboard and mouse may work, and pc controllers too (havent tested but maybe?)

graphics are average for PDZ anyway (better that xbox but not as good as pc) , but im not sure if thats cause i dont have HD, still not sure if the image downgrades the quality of the game if viewed on a normal tv or not, and you know that its just the beginin and games are gonna get better and better.

controllers are sweet, only downfall is that the D-pad doesnt seem to have GREAT responce navigating in menus and onscreen keyboards, i felt like i sometimes have to press it twice to get it to move.... i do like the fact that u can turn the 360 on and off from any controller or the remote, also when the system is off, the controllers(bein wireless) have no corresponding allocation on the 360, so the conttroller that was controller 1 last time , can be controller 2 next time, it all depends, who presses the center button first. (i like that cause then ull never need to look for the right one :P


overall i thnk that its worth getting now if ya have the money to spair, if not yet, get it when the price is better and more decent games are out on it, and IF AND WHEN a modchip is released, the potential is that this WILL ROCK and is a MUST HAVE :P!

Well I played it in the shops to day.
Have to say I'm a little bit dissapointed.
PGR3 is a nice game but didn't impress me like what PGR1 with the Xbox launch.
The graphics just didn't "wow" me.

I do like the controller though, really comfy.

I'll wait til the price drops before getting one.

yes they are, all flatscreens are HD input, just levels of how much HD(480, 720 1080i etc.)and not all can auto view HDTV, but can all read and view HD images/video..

xbox 360 wasnt likely set up to be HD set, theres a button on the back of the AV pack (tv or HD), that increases the resolutions and graphics processing when plugged into a HD source, making it look HEAPS better that what it is on a tv or even an LCD/plasma while having the switch on back of 360 set to tv

Hmm maybe you're wrong because today I noticed a ad selling Plasmas, but not all mentioned HD. Only some.

the older model plasmas might not have, neither do lcd rear projection tvs, but anything that is still in production and isnt cheap in quality is HD READY .

Welp, were you using ur HD AV Cables??? You need them + HD compatible TV :D

PS3 and 360 are pretty much dead even across the board. Differences:

PS3 discs = blue ray tech = far larger
Xbox Live = FAR more sophisticated

And, so, just depends which you prefer

Personally, I'm with 360 for it's games, and for it's Live. I reckon Xbox games > PS games (debatable I know, but generally), especially since most of PS2's best sellers have ended up on Xbox anyway (GTA = prime example)

I don't want to start a debate on that, because I know there are certainly a couple awesome games exclusive to PS (FF, GT series), but overall, bleh, like xbox better...
