Please stay awhile and listen! You have quite the treasure in that little pony. </Diablo off>

Welcome to the unofficial-official “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” Panel thread. Here I will explain the who and whens.
This panel will focus mostly on the “Brony” Community and be rated at least a 16+ age recommendation. The panel throughout the time allowed will consist of a few events.

Content I want to include are as following;

*PMV contest (20 mins)
*PMV show case (10 mins)
*Pony themed treats (sold during the whole panel)
*Friendship is Witchcraft viewing (40-60 mins)
*And a good old fashion MLP: FiM Season THREE episode 1-2 showing! (40 mins)

Some events that are possible if time allows;

*Fan-fiction Reading
*Brony music Q&A
*Pony meme: What we know
*Plushy raffle

Please, paint below with your questions and concerns: What you would like to see, etc!

Just make sure you go through the proper channels and submit a panel form to the Panels Committee about it once panel submissions are opened. I wouldn't be surprised if there were several other people thinking the same thing!

How Banzai didn't have one last year is beyond me. This is why I asked the forums though, because if no one has pitches this yet, its my turn baby. I plan to be the one running this with adamant fervor. As stated above, YOU CAN'T STOP ME.

Well, it's not exactly anime. It's not even Asian. Then again you probably won't find a fan of anime who doesn't watch this show.

Also I think it's funny how you want it to be 16+ themed. The show is for preschoolers. Still, I'll set up base near the room if I have to :D

It's just so hard to hate, even me (a 21 year old) loves this show with all my heart. It has good dialog with good plots. I love the fan base so much I just want to share it with the world. Everyone is Brony deep down, they just don't know it yet.

Woohoo! I want to know what time and day this is happening as soon as possible 'cuz I have a friend who absolutely loves FiM. She even got me to watch a couple episodes and I have to admit it was hysterical. If I tell her we're going to have this panel she'll probably try extra hard to be at the con that night. I would like her to have an even better experience than she did last year and since this is right up her alley I would love to be able to tell her we are having this.

Well, to be fair, there's been "How to survive a zombie apocalypse," panels before, and those aren't anime or Asian either. Banzai's always had a few 'American' elements. I mean, come on, everybody's seen all the Master Chiefs' and Waldos' running around every year. But I definitely agree that it's hard to find an anime fan who doesn't watch it. I think more otaku watch it than little girls xD

Either way, the panel's a brilliant idea! Consider me there!

So, this panel looks like a by-fans, for-fans panel. In the description of the panel that is in the list of panels, you should mention that it is not aimed towards those who aren't bronies, but are curious about MLP.

Also, I love the idea of pony themed treats being sold, but make sure you get that approved. I know cons have issues with the convention centers not allowing outside food.

Rem,

Depending what the AB people think of this, I would love to help out with you in any way I can. I actually came on the forums to see about something like this as well. Since we don't really have any "Brony" events here and I had heard about Anime Banzai from someone at work, I thought maybe it'd be a great launch point for sure.

I don't even claim to be otaku by any means, I certainly enjoy anime, but what I have under my belt is fairly small (pun not intended...). And many of what I have seen *gasp* has been English dubbed versions anyway.

That being said, I fully do claim to be a brony in the truest and purist of senses. So let me know! I don't have much to bring to the table (I'm no artist, movie or music maker) but I'd still love to help. I am consistently bothering a really good DJ friend to remix some pony songs for me, but it's been almost a year long battle now.

/)* at any rate.

Edit: Also, I think we should expand on what windrapier said. By-fans/for-fans is cool. But doing something to try to expand the community would be something I think would be great as well.

Hi,

Thanks for your interest in running a panel! From the panels committee, I can definitely see that there is interest in this, which we will consider when reviewing a panel submission form. For all of our zombie panels, we generally expect that they at least mention some of the Zombie Animes, so that is how they tie in. :)

If you'd like to run this panel, please email us at panels@animebanzai.org so that we can get you a form to fill out to start the review process. (If you have already submitted a form without the following, just go ahead and re-submit, we'll take the newest.) From this thread I can let you know a few things, you'll want to be clear on how this relates to Anime, Japanese Culture, Fandom, etc. For us to really even consider an age restricted panel, you will want to be explicit on why you need the age restriction part (what exactly are you showing/discussing that you can have a 16 year old but not a 14 year old) and make sure that if it is accepted you have an evening to run it since age restricted panels are scheduled later. Please also go into concise detail on how you will run the panel and steps you will take to make sure the discussion stays on track in an audience friendly way.

Also we can't have you showing entire episodes in the panel, so if you want to have an entire episode run, you'd need to coordinate something with our viewing room and make sure that you work closely with both our committees on the time frame.

Best of luck with everything and if you have any questions, please feel free to email us with questions. :) We look forward to hearing from you!

Thanks,
Kuroi

Update from the Panels committee: Upon discussion with the convention heads, it was decided that this cannot be an age restricted panel. Please make sure your submission is for all ages since this is an all ages show.

This sounds like an awesome idea if it can get off the ground.

For reference, I'm one of the administrators over at the Utah Bronies facebook group, and helped run the Brony panel at Anime Salt Lake, so if there's anything I can do to help make this happen at Banzai, I'd be glad to help.

I have to reiterate what everybody else has said and say that this is indeed an awesome idea.

I'm alright at drawing ponies and I'm pretty good at public speaking, so if you ever need help in those two departments, throw me a PM!
