Cosplay Challenge!, A place to cheer each other on.

This thread will be a place to cheer, cry, and bang your head on the virtual keyboard when you have problems.

This is not a thread about challenging or critiquing others(unless they ask for it). This is a place to challenge yourself and have a little support network while you do it.

Everybody gets to set their own goal, time frame, and rules... and only you can judge if you win.

So, I'll start.

I challenge myself to complete one cosplay wig every week for a month, whether I have a commission or not. The rules for my challenge are that the month starts when I get my first order in from my new supplier. No excuses about being busy allowed!

I challenge myself to get Battle Saber done before NDK: Dress and armor.

Anyways, I have a goal of BRS done for Expo, Kokonoe done by August (hopefully for expo as well)
and Kyouko Sakura by Sept. Whoo overdoing it <3

I'm going to get my Green Link tunic and my buddy's Blue Link Tunic done before school starts again in sept. I know that sounds like a long way off--but I'm going to need all that time!!

I would like to finish my Ventus cosplay before the 5th, and then a cosplay a month, at least.... (I have six beside the Ventus one.)

Ok, this seems like a great topic to be pinned so I'm putting it up (on general principals and terrible memories of trying to figure out my tattoos a few years ago).

But here's a rule: Play nice or I'll take the thread down. No trashing, bashing, and please express any swearwords in a family friendly way. (i.e., #$%^%$& or [bleep] )


I'll even play. My goal is to actually finish a cosplay this year (any new cosplay) before NDK. Of course, that means I'll have to pick a character. There's way too many awesome characters in the running.

Also it wouldn't hurt my feelings at all to see some of you in the Cosplay contest showing off the results of your great goals!

My wig shipment came in! So my month long challenge starts now.

Of course, since I don't have a commission for either of my first two choices I have a toss up.

Or a Rin Tosaka (Fate Stay Night) http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcT...f8yXPrScmlVvzKw Difficulty: Bows (notice how her hair goes through the middle of the bow?) and conflicting source (her hair shows up as brown, gray or black. I compromised and went with really dark brown)

Yes, I know I'm easing into the challenge, but I thought that might be for the best.

Thanks ^^ I think I may try to finish it Sunday... I can usually get costumes done in a day or two, I just have to actually do it XD

I vote for Rin. I'm doing Azunyan from K-on later and the only wigs I can find with good pigtaily things are Miku which are way too long. I'm hoping to buy a wig I think will work and bring it to the wig party to style :) its also fun to do something new~

I have two challenges right now:

short range goal:
1. To finish squalls gunblade and Yuffie's shuriken within the next week.

2. My ultimate goal is to finish my costume, along with my wife and buddy's (we work together) by September 1st!

I've got 2 challenges for the same costume.

1-Make a "functioning" shield for Akemi Homura complete with purple sands, turning, and gears.

2-Make the actual costume.

All of which by September 1st.

My goal is to finish both my Jack of Blades costume, AND my Grell Sutcliff costume before Banzai >:U DETERMINATION.

Conflicting source sucks. Not only does her hair show as a variety of colors, rewatching the first few episodes I noticed it changes lengths too... sometimes from frame to frame.

Oh, sorry, the one I'm working on is Rin from Fate Stay Night.

Giving up for tonight, will work on it tomorrow.

@Hey_Red: You're going to want video game screen caps. Rin's hair is supposed to be a fairly dark brown, almost black; it varies colours usually thanks to the odd lighting that gets used in a lot of TYPE MOON set pieces. As for the length - again, let us get you some screen caps. :)

Hm... for specific cosplay goals:
--I want to get the money to start working on Kerrigan within the next month and get her done by the end of 2011. There's going to be much experimenting with latex body suits going on with this one...
--Also, once I get a new job I want to get my hands on some wonderflex so I can start playing with it potentially for Umi from Magic Knights Rayearth and have her hopefully done by Banzai. The big thing with this armor is I want to make it to be able to withstand a fair amount of impact so I can get some decent mileage out of it.

For not so cosplay related goals:
--I'm giving myself 2 weeks to draft an underbust corset and get that assembled.
--I want to break ground on my first suit of hardened leather armor within the next month!

@ Digigirlmimi - I think corsetry and leather armor totally qualify. Nobody said you had to pick a specific character.


Sooo... I finished the styling, but not the bows. I know how to do them, I just didn't get to a fabric store and have no urge to cut them out of scrap cloth when I don't need to. I'll just sell it without the bows, and that will make it cheaper too.

I usually don't do the actual hair ornaments anyway, since most people would want them out of matching fabric.

I tried to take pictures to link, but my skills with a camera... lets just say Nekonivi and Gravyboat take all my website photos for a reason.

So I'm technically a day early, but I didn't do the hair bows I cited as part of the difficulty rating. Call part 1 80% met.

Short break for the Japan Jam and party weekend (unrelated) and then on to part 2. Next week's character is not decided yet. I'll post pics when I narrow it down.
