My job is, honestly, probably one of the hardest ones at the convention. This isn't to say that everyone's job isn't hard, but I have certain responsibilities that more or less fall directly on me. As a result of this, I need to make certain adjustments to the way that security is run for the larger amounts of people that are attending the convention.

This is where I would like to request some feedback from you, the attendees who interact with security from the other side of the line.

What are some of the things that you found that security, either myself or any of the guards, did that worked in our favor?

On the flip-side, what are some of the behaviors/policies you noticed that needs to be improved upon?

Basically, I am asking what you thought of security this year in either a positive or a negative light.

Any feedback you may be able to provide me would be greatly appreciated. :ph43r:

I think you guys did an amazing job keeping everyone safe. Even though I was turned away from a few panels due to them being full, I was glad that you were responsible enough to do that. I can't stress the number of times I've been to conventions over capacity where I can't breathe or see. I was also thankful that many staff members had familiarized themselves with the venue and events that I could ask anyone in a pink shirt and be pointed in the right direction immediately.

On the negative side, I was really at odds with the clause about how we're charged with respecting the staff, but I saw many security members demeaning and disrespecting attendees in the halls and during seating for big events. It was heartbreaking, honestly, because I never met one person during the con who responded poorly to direction. There was no need to yell obscenities, start fights, or disrespect anyone because they wanted something done. You catch more otaku with pocky than with soy sauce, you know?

Thanks for all of your hard work. I know how frustrating it can be to herd crowds around, keep everyone safe, and organize huge numbers -- I'm amazed at how you kept it together being so understaffed. Well done.
