I've submitted a panels form to do a MLP: FiM panel this year, too - but mine is quite different from yours, Rem. I want to spend some time talking about censorship in anime, video games, and comics and how the "recent" (yeah, I know) Derpy censorship is important to fans and non-fans alike.
Perhaps we should inquire about having our panels at different times, but close together? Maybe in the same hall & 2 hours apart or something? I'd be very interested in attending yours. I've ran panels & events both at Banzai and other conventions, so I'm going to offer some unsolicited feedback here. I'd perhaps scale down your plans just a bit. Adding treats is going to create a bigger headache than most people would imagine. The convention center is not keen to it and thus, the convention really can't afford to support it. Beyond that, anything with wrappers (which you have to have anyway because of food handling laws) will be problematic: It gets loud in those rooms and when you have an excited crowd, it's tricky to keep their attention without being a tyrant. You won't want the sound of wrappers added into the mix. Also: Clean up. You've got less than 5 minutes to clean up after your panel before vacating the room for the next panel. Good rule of thumb: Whatever you hand out, expect at least 10% of it to make its way onto the floor while people are leaving. Doesn't matter how cool it is or how much time you spent on it. 10% = floor. That goes for handouts, too. A great tip on handling this: Either arrange to hand things out as people are walking out the door, or reserve your handouts until the last 10 minutes of the panel & make it a point to make an announcement right before people leave that they need to check the area around where they've been sitting to ensure they don't accidentally leave anything behind. More unsolicited advice: Contests always take longer than you think they will. Trivia rarely takes as long as you think it will. Map out your panel ahead of time and try to figure out the flow of it. How long is each piece actually going to take? How many audience participants are you going to be able to handle? How will you respond if the crowd is loud and overexcited? Just be prepared. I think you have a wonderful idea for a wonderful panel here, it just needs a little love to work it into what you really want and what the convention can actually support. xoxo |

Biggity biggity bump. Anyone? If I knew what to do (never been to a con of any type... besides automotive ones... before) I'd be all over doing whatever was needed. But I don't even know where to start. I don't even know what a "panel" really is besides the questions panels done with stars of shows etc.

Sorry about not saying anything! I decided to hold it off until next year do to no time for planning (I also hit a very bad place financially). Among other mishaps, like me moving across state.
I do however expect to host something this year. If you are interested in helping me out toss me an email. tremolo.pony@gmail.com I have a TON of fun idea's, I just some more input for other Bronies. |
