I for one think Bungie made a BAD MOVE, giving us a game and a half of Elite killy-ness and then springing the whole "Elites on our side" thing. Evilness, this was.

I for one vote Johnson should have vaporized the Arbiter with the Scarab gun, tromped to the Control room, blown the door, taken both marines in with him and waited to snipe Tartarus while the waves of Elites whittled him down, then grabbed Miranda and Spark and made a tactical retreat out.

I would have to disagree with you Bill because if the humans didn't have the elites they would of got their butts kicked by the flood and plus the brutes. Plus with the plan Johnson shoots with the sniper is the sniper would run out sooner or later and the elites would proable turn on Johnson and killed him too, Plus the elites might stop coming because Tartarus would kill the one the elites send and slites might think we can't kill him by sending troops so we'll blast him to bits with our cannon thingy the cannon that they glass planets with.

This belongs in the Halo 2 forum. I'm moving it. I disagree too. An ally is exactly what Humanity needed. Humans can reverse engineer their technology and advance themselves easier through their better relationship perhaps even trade in peacetime. It was imperative to of ally with the Elites. Think of all the benefits, one less enemy to worry about, better Intel about the Covenant. They wanted a ally just as bad as humans did too. They both would be lost if they haven't helped each other.

Bungie should have had Humanity ally with the Flood. It's conceivable, right? They both wanted the Prophet of Truth dead, the Halos to not be fired, and we could have set off a tactical ring blast like in H3 and piff, they're no more better off than they are in the canon end of the H3 storyline.

Or perhaps immediately after the events of H3, HIGHCOM should have ordered we betray the Elites because they're a liability. We all heard Half-Jaw when he said he 'should' have glassed Earth.

I say we wait until a human colony is glassed by the Elites for possible "flood infestation" then we start pummeling the living hell out of them. Not like any in Humanity, after being reminded the Elites DID kill 40 billion humans, would OBJECT to it...

Ally with the flood!? Sigh, how would they go about that hmm? Why would the flood want an alliance? They definitely weren't losing last time I checked.

Betray the Elites!? And start another war, sigh.

Elites aren't dumb, they wouldn't start another war.

'Tactical' ring blasts still kill all sentient life in the blast radius, and chances are the flood would turn on us immediately afterward, like they did in Halo 3. Chances are the entire flood entity wouldnt happen to be around the ring either.

The above posters (besides Bill) are right. Humanity needed an ally, if you look at halo 3, without the Elites, we would got our asses handed to us. Earth would have turned into flood land.

Becoming the flood is the only means to ally with it.

Chances are the human-elite alliance will likely last, there's still some covenant out there, chances are they weren't all centered around high charity. Both races need to rebuild. Yes the elites killed billions of us, but didn't the Germans almost whipe out a mass number of the Jews in WWII? I dont see us waging war with germany still about it do you?

Not to mention 3 games of fighting the exact same guys would be a bit dull.

Bill, you're like the crazy guy in most movies who can't put differences aside and screws it up for everyone.

I agree. People have to put the mistakes of the past aside in order to build a good future. Tis why the humans accepted elite help. Although im kinda surpriesd the hunters or a small faction of grunts didnt join, cos in the 2nd they did kinda help the arbiter in a few missions.

I for one don't think humanity needed to ally with the Elites. I mean, we could still win nonetheless, it'd just be kinda hard. All we needed was that forerunner tech that Kurt and the others found on Onyx. then we would be kickin. Guy was stupid to blow it up ¬.¬

If the Elites had stayed with the covies we woulda lost, Brutes suck at controlling ships (shown that Elites beat a force 3 times their size). The Brutes pwned the earth fleet (as mentioned in the 2nd mission), so the elites woulda done it even better.

If the Elites hadn't allied with the humans, we might not even have gone through the portal, and woulda had a world full of flood on us. We almost lost the planet WITH Elite help. If we had gone through the portal, it woulda been 3-4 frigates and some fighters verses a covie fleet, which woulda pwned us.

And i dont remember Kurt or them recovering any useful tech against the covies or flood. Onyx's sentinels were aggresive to us too.

If we somehow won, we'd have lost even more.

I think some Hunters and Grunts did change sides, merely that you dont work with the Covies directly very much in the levels, so you encounter the most common of the Seperatists, which are the Elites. Though you'd think they'd deploy hunters for anti-flood combat, then again Hunters kinda suck in halo 3.

Halsey said there was something there. They coulda taken it and brought it to us. pro'bly given us an edge in combat

Allying with them to survive, I can grudgingly get past.

Now I want to see us betray them and nuke Sangheilios.

The alliance will dissolve anyway, when the Arbiter dies. No other Elite is so sympathetic to humanity. Half-Jaw almost reached over the table and punched Hood in H3, and vice-versa.

I say we should pre-empt it. we have the Forerunner Keyship, we should have the Elites and their Engineers work with human techs to re-arm it, ostensibly for anti-Flood space combat, then when the Elites aren't looking, we kick their rears with it.

It worked for the Prophets...

EDIT: There's also 2401 Penitent Tangent, the Monitor captured by Gravemind. With it's death, he should still be on the Ark, or perhaps Delta Halo. He'd give us Sentinels, Enforcers, clouds of Constructors, and those huge Sentinel Constructor Factories to orbit Earth.

Maybe Mendicant Bias, who overrules the authority of the Monitors and, as seen in the final terminal in H3, redeems himself by trying to help the MC escape. Maybe he'd help.
