Brooke Davis wasn't the type of girl who was known to go by a schedule or be very organized or on that topic she never seems to be on time most of the time and today really was no different. She got up looking at the clock which said 12:30. Normally she was an early riser, the type of person who will annoy the hell out of you but you'd mind it because she buys you coffee but the night before had been a little long and being around everyone from high school made her want to act like...well like she was in high school. College was no different either the only thing that pretty much changed was her age, now she's legal and doesn't have to be so sneaky when it comes to getting into places or buying drinks.

After getting dressed and spending a half hour making sure that she looked alright and presentable in front of the mirror Brooke decided to not waste her day doing nothing because nothing is boring and well she hated to be bored. She knew exactly where she'd get some entertainment, or at least where she'd be able to annoy someone for a little while and get something to eat. Karen's Cafe brought back a lot of memories, it was the spot Karen made the best coffee and the food was the best. In a matter of minutes Brooke had made her way there looking for Haley. Thats right after four whole years tutor wife, now known as tutor mom and B. Davis were still friends. It was funny because Brooke never really paid much attention to Haley until that whole Chris thing happened(the first time) and ever since then she's loved that girl like a sister. Brooke was even James' god mother which was kind of surprising for her because Haley could have easily picked Peyton to do that job but she picked Brooke which made her feel special and not the stupid kind of special but the loved and trusted kind. Brooke swore to herself that if Nathan and Haley ever...randomly passed out and died then she'd take the best care of that kid.

She knew that she'd have to be there, the girl practically lived there well there and in her house but Karen's was like a second home to her. Brooke smiled as she walked in for some reason she'd sort of keep an eye out for Lucas, it was after all his mothers Cafe. Now she knew they were supposed to be friends but considering their whole history and the fact that he'd proposed to her best friend Brooke tried to avoid him as much as possible. Brooke casually sat down on one of the seats in front of the counter and looked at her friend "God service really sucks around here" She said rolling her eyes slightly and playing with the tip of her long curly brunette hair. Haley knew she was only joking around actually even if they hadn't known each other at all Brooke wouldn't be complaining about the service everyone was generally nice around there.

Haley stood behind the counter, flipping through a magazine lazily, she had forgotten her book at home and since Karen had run on a errand, she wasn’t allowed to leave. She loved the fact that she got to work here again, but this shift was always incredibly boring, especially when she didn’t have a book to entertain her. There were no high school kids, seeing as most of them still had class, and adults still had work. At least she had James there to keep her company, who was laying on the floor coloring in a coloring book. He seemed to be enjoying himself immensely.

She had made it to the end of her magazine, something that had been left on the counter by some rich careless teenage girl. She hadn’t really read a single word, but it passed the time, looking at all the outfits she would never be able to afford. Her and Nathan weren’t poor, but they usually didn’t have enough money for expensive clothes she didn’t need. She sighed and closed the book. She looked down at the brown haired boy staring intensely at the page of a fire truck that he had colored blue and purple. She smiled and knelt down next to the small boy, “That’s a pretty picture” she said and James beamed.

The little bell on the door rang and Haley picked the boy and his coloring supplies off the ground. As she was standing up she heard the familiar voice of Brooke Davis and sure enough there was the brunette standing in the middle of the café. “Hey Brooke” she said as she placed him on the counter. She smiled as he contently started coloring again. She turned and opened the top to the pie jar and cut two slices and placed one in front of Brooke and the other in front of herself, “Want coffee?” she asked her.

Brooke smiled at Haley as she passed her a piece of pie. It was like she'd read her mind or something. "Yeah, sure" She responded to Haley's question while cutting a piece of the pie with her fork and putting it in her mouth. Whenever Brooke attempted to make pie it wound up looking like chocolate and wound up tasting like, well you know, she'd much rather stick to eating pie from anywhere but her kitchen. Brooke smiled at James, he was a cute kid really but then again all little kids were well most of them were anyways "Hi James, what cha doing?" She asked the little brunette boy. He seemed to just ignore her and keep coloring. Brooke laughed a little "Well Haley you're screwed, he's got Nathans attention span" She said looking back at her friend.

She looked around suddenly noticing how empty the place really was. Brooke never really visited so often around this time and now she knows why, it looked like the place was stranded. "God it's really quiet in here" She said still looking around. Karen wasn't there either which was kind of weird but she'd probably been busy lately "Where's Karen anyways?" She asked Haley trying to start conversation or something. Brooke then realized that the silence was caused by lack of well people. Everyone was either in school or at work.

On the subject of work, Brooke really needed to start coming up with some designs. Lately she hadn't been feeling to inspired to make anything new and something was just holding her back. She had Peyton's help and she certainly had the talent so what the hell was her problem? She was just being lazy and maybe she thought that if she'd stall a little then reality wouldn't come so fast. College was now over and everyone was almost ready to move on and start their lives in the real world. No not the show although Brooke would totally try out except she has this thing against reality television but anyways she was a little scared of moving on that and she'd miss being a kid way too much.

Haley turned and poured Brooke a cup off coffee and herself a glass of water as Brooke addressed the preschooler. She turned back around, handed Brooke her coffee, and sighed, “You can’t get him to listen to anything when he’s coloring, he get pretty mesmerized” she said taking a bite of the chocolate pie that sat in front of her. She loved chocolate pie, it was her comfort food, that and raspberry tea. “So how’s the godmother today?” she asked as she offered the youngster a bite of pie which he gratefully accepted and continued coloring.

God it's really quiet in here" Brooke said and Haley smiled, “Yeah, this shift is always a little boring, but usually I have Karen to talk to” she said. "Where's Karen anyways?" Brooke asked and Haley smiled, “She had to go to Lily’s preschool graduation” she said remembering the craziness that had happened only a week before with James.

So how have you been spending your days since you have graduated college?” she asked the brunette while taking another slice of pie. James scribbled what Haley thought might be his name on the bottom of the page and held it up for his mother to see, “Very good baby” she said before he handed the page to her. She put it up on a buliten board that was full of James’ and Lily’s drawings, sometimes Haley thought they were competing to see who could make more.

Brooke smiled at te little boy again and turned back to Haley. It was funny how someone could be so focused on something like coloring. If she found anything as fun as that kid found coloring or blowing bubbles or playing with clay then Brooke would be a very happy person. The only thing se loved as much was her fashion well that and Chase, come to think of it Brooke had no excuse to ever be upset she had all she needed. "A little hung over to be honest but other than that she's just fine" Brooke responded to Haley. She wasn't worried about James listening in on the conversation he was coloring and didn't know half the crap they'd talk about anyways. "What about you tutor mom, got anything interesting going on?" She asked with a smile as she had some of her coffee.

Brooke looked back at Haley, obviously it was extreamly broing she'd never be able to handle that kind of silence. "Alright, I'm not trying to say that Karen is boring or anything because the woman is pretty amazing but don't you just get sick of working here? I mean Haley come on you've got so too much potential to waste it being a waitress." Brooke understood with James being around and the Nathan with his basketball stuff and everything Haley didn't have much time for the job she'd always wanted but still Brooke didn't want her working there the rest of her life, she just needed to say something. "Oh, must be kind of crazy for her then" Brooke said with a small smirk. She remembered how much trouble Haley had with James' little graduation thing but it was cute, the graduation not Haley almost having a panic attack.

"Um, pretty much like this" Brooke said taking another bite of her pie. "I've just been a little busy with Peyton and the whole fashion line thing" She said then laughing a little when James passed her te drawing. She didn't know what the hell it was supposed to be but he probably thought it looked great. "Well look at that he's gonna be the next Picaso...Or P. Sawyer...without the whole Broodyness and he's not a girl, or blonde." Brooke laughed a little and looked back at Haley feeling like she should ask her about whats been going on too but she already knew.

A little hung over to be honest but other than that she's just fine” Brooke said and Haley gave her that look like, ‘Just because you’re 22 doesn’t mean you need to be drinking all the time’ as she took another bite of the pie. “What about you tutor mom, got anything interesting going on?" Brooke asked her and Haley said, “Nothing really, Nathan’s really busy trying to come up with stuff for the Ravens and James graduated preschool and we’re getting him ready for kindergarten” she said.

Alright, I'm not trying to say that Karen is boring or anything because the woman is pretty amazing but don't you just get sick of working here? I mean Haley come on you've got so too much potential to waste it being a waitress’ Brooke said and Haley sighed, “I know I am, but me and Nathan need money right now” she said running her fork along the top of her pie. Her and Nathan had been a little behind with the bills and her job as a TA wasn’t bringing in that much money, neither was Nathan's coaching job. They were really tight on money and anything that would bring in money was a good job.

I've just been a little busy with Peyton and the whole fashion line thing” Brooke said. Haley noticed how her face almost light up when she was talking about her fashion line. ‘Well look at that he's gonna be the next Picaso...Or P. Sawyer...without the whole Broodyness and he's not a girl, or blonde' Brooke said and Haley laughed, “Well Nathan will be disappointed, he wanted James to be a big basketball star” she said.

Brooke noticed Haley give her that look she didn't know how the hell she did it but Haley seemed to say a lot without actually speaking"Oh give me a break, I was just having a little bit of fun it's not like I broke a law or anything!"She said defending herself. She knew Haley was just looking out for her but still, she's not as bad as she was four years ago. "Gosh, it feels like yesterday that he was born and stuff" Brooke responded after Haley mentioned getting him ready for kindergarten.

The last thing she wanted for her friend was to be stuck in Tree Hill er whole life as a waitress and not living her life to the fullest but if Haley didn't want her to get involved then she totally wouldn't "Alright I'm just saying. Don't ever tell anyone I didn't try to get you the h-" Brooke sighed remembering that James was still there" Heck out of here" She said trying to sugar coat it a little.

She laughed a little and shook her head "No I'm not really seeing that in his future" She shrugged her shoulders. Hell with Nathan as his father Brooke knew James was going to be the next Ravens Basketball star or something. She just didn't want him to pull a Dan and push him to hard, that would really suck but Nathan would never do that. Plus Haley would kick his ass if something like that happened.

Oh give me a break, I was just having a little bit of fun it's not like I broke a law or anything!’ Brooke said and Haley sighed, “I’m not saying you broke the law, but I don’t want to wake-up to phone call saying you died in a drunk car accident” she said feeling like she was about to burst into tears. She had been a little over emotional lately. She gathered herself and started again, “Sorry to freak out a little bit, it’s just been a little stressful lately” she said, work, Nathan, and James has all been taxing on her emotionally.

Alright I'm just saying. Don't ever tell anyone I didn't try to get you the h-’ Brooke said and Haley gave a warning glare when she started to say hell, but luckily Brooke caught herself and stared again, ‘Heck out of here’. “I know, but my TA job will only last for another year and then I become a real teacher and I hope Tree Hill high will hire me as the new chorus teacher”. The old chorus teacher was retiring in a next year and Haley was hopefully the most qualified candidate. Then Haley and Nathan would be working in the same school.

No I'm not really seeing that in his future’ Brooke said and Haley laughed at the fact that if Nathan was here he would have fiercely object to Brooke’s statement. She knew what Brooke was thinking, Nathan would be like Dan and push their son to play basketball, but Haley knew he wasn’t going to do that, one because Nathan hated when Dan did that to him and Haley would kick his ass if he ever tried to force their son to play basketball, their son would do what ever he wanted to do, whether it be basketball, painting, or dancing for all she cared. He would do what he loved

Brooke was a little suprised by what Haley told her, she was a responsable drinker and it wasn't like she did it all the time. A part of her however understood where she was coming from but still she had nothing to worry about "Alright, I have to remember not to talk about drinking when you're in witch mode" Brooke was only kidding Haley was hardly ever a bitch with her that was more of her and Rachels thing.

Good, at least Haley wanted to do something that involved music. Brooke knew how much she loved it and just because James was born doesn't mean Haley was supposed to give up on it. "Wow, you waited four years to graduate from tree hill just to come back four years later" She said laughing a little. That must have really sucked, Brooke would die if she ever had to go back to school and have to do anything that involved work sure she missed high school but not the learning part. "At least you'll be the one making te rules"

Nathan wouldn't be like Dan, Brooke was positive. He knew how it felt to be pushed around and would never do that to his son. "Nahh, James is probably going to be the next Nathan Scott of Tree Hill" Brooke rolled her eyes. That wouldn't be very good considering along with being a basketball star he also did some things that he really did regret.
