Full History [at least two paragraphs]:
The date was August thirty first. The year was nineteen ninety three. The time was four eighteen in the morning. And the sound that echoed in the small, depressingly white room, was the utter of a sob from a newborn child, the representation of his first breath and his new life. His mother, Maria, was overjoyed by her newfound son, and her husband, Jake, made certain that his wife didn’t name his son by some girl’s name. In fact, he made sure that the name that was written on the birth certificate was the name that he and his wife had been discussing for these long months in wait for their newborn. His first, and only, son was to be named Kaz. While his middle name was left up to his drugged mother to decide, for the two figured if their daughter was to be named as a boy, why not allow their son to be named however Maria chose. His middle name ended up becoming Kioko, a Japanese name of a small child that Maria had known when she was sixteen.

When the couple arrived back at their house the next afternoon, their daughter greeted them happily, and addressed her new brother indifferently. The rest of the family had come over to the house over the course of the next week to pay the newborn a visit. But as Kaz drew more attention away from her, what with his crying, changing, feeding, napping, and constant other care that was necessary, she didn’t care for him much as infant. When Kaz learned to sit up, he would giggle and his slightly pudgy cheeks would swell with happiness when his sister would take time to play with him. It almost had seemed as though his sister liked him for a few months, before he started crawling, and his parents were constantly videotaping his every move at. Kaz was always trying to reach towards her, but she seemed to leave, or move too fast, so he never reached her on film.

Each time that she began to like him again, something that he learned would cause her to dislike him yet again. First it was his standing, and how adorable he would look as he fell to the floor with a small thump. Next it was his first wobbly steps, as he walked across the room towards his father in the opposite corner, and was lifted high above the mantle. Running came soon after walking, Kaz tearing around the house, running into walls and other objects as he hadn’t yet learned how to turn. Both parents agreed he was fast. For Karsen it was the last straw as her brother spoke his first word; “theeth-terr” and his parents cooed at him for how sweet he was, how cute he was, and how precious his twinkling green eyes were. She began a downhill rush to try and get attention.

When Karsen sang, it was cute for quite some time, just as her brother had been for the past two years, the early walker and talker that he was. Kaz liked to hear her sing, as well, but he couldn’t find a way to make his mouth produce the same sound that his sister’s did, usually it didn’t utter a sound at all. But as his sister began to grow older, and months had passed, his parents reverted back to their son for their videotaping, seeing as her constant blabbering of words was getting on their nerves. Karsen was smart enough to notice that her singing had lost its cuteness, and eventually she stopped.

The memory of a lamp falling, a wall colored in crayon drawings, and dishes thrown against walls. It was the inevitable phase of drawing attention, negatively. Kaz remembered how his parents were angry with her, but because they had to deal with her so harshly, it would require great amounts of their time and attention, drawing them away from him. He didn’t mind that they weren’t always around, but when they occasionally would forget things, important things, he began to wish that they paid him more mind, not his sister who wasn’t even acting well.

Kaz decided that he would never be like his sister and her rebellious ways. He put his time into more worthwhile things; he made friends and played with them, he colored and painted, he learned to ride a bike, he had one summer of swimming lessons, among other things that made him happy and that were important to do in one’s life. It was when he was five that he went to a lake with his family. Of course Kaz didn’t know enough about his sister to realize that she didn’t know how to swim, he figured that if he did, being younger, she should. When he chased her he was doing it because he felt that it was a game, something fun to do with his older sister. When she didn’t come up from the water he thought she was playing a trick. But when his mother called out asking where his sister was and he pointed she ran fast enough to show him that it was no joke.

It was the first time he had been in serious trouble. Before it had merely been because of his carelessness, clumsiness, or because he was being any regular kid; but the shouts, the serious tone, and the disappointed look that lingered in their eyes was enough to show Kaz that they were indeed very serious about what they were saying. He could have killed his sister. She didn’t know how to swim, you should have known better. What were you doing in the deep end without us? He thought you knew better than to do something as stupid as that… They continued on, like that for weeks, and after that he seemed to grow years older in a matter of weeks.

By the age of seven his teachers were impressed by his academic achievements for such a young boy, but some expressed worry in that all he ever did was read and write, do his schoolwork, and, they figured, watch television. He did indeed write about many things with a vocabulary years older than his actual age, he also read more than what was good for him, and more than normal children his age would, and spent a good deal of his time there. Schoolwork took much of his time, but he didn’t watch television, it was just something he didn’t prefer, though his sister and schoolmates seemed to find it very interesting. What his teachers were worried about was whether he was getting any exercise, as most boys did because they were overly energetic and couldn’t focus without it.

Their comments led to signups in; Little League, Soccer, more Swimming Lessons, Basketball, and Water Polo, seeing as he liked swimming so much. He eventually dropped basketball, seeing as he could barely ever make a basket, though he could play well other than that. He stopped playing Little League because he didn’t like that not many of the other boys were serious about it, but he didn’t feel like pursuing select. And water polo became too extensive, though he would still play it just for fun, if that was something that really happened. The only two things he kept up with was advanced swimming, and eventually the joining of a team, and soccer, which he had a great talent for.

Soccer became more important than books and papers, turning into what he did in any spare moment. He joined a select team where he shined as a center midfield, sprinting across the field, not tiring in the entire game. Someone suggested that he joined track, a suggestion that he thought over, and when the spring came around he did. While he did like the thrill of a race and sprinting against other great runners, he preferred soccer and that is his sole priority.

Junior High School was a hard time for Kaz. He was athletic, and he was happy when he was running. He excelled in school, and got straight A’s. But it seemed that no matter how hard he tried, no matter how good he did in school his parents didn’t take notice, because they were too busy worrying about what ‘their little angel’ was doing now that she was in high school. She instantly became popular, which was easy to see for Kaz, seeing as all she cared about was how much attention everyone else was giving her, and that was how it had always been. He didn’t have much respect for his sister, but he still loved her like only a brother could and if anyone messed with her, he was willing to step in and protect her. Years of soccer, track, and additional training weren’t for nothing, he was quite muscularly toned and could throw in a few good punches and kicks before his opponent’s weight might be able to kick in.

But after having survived his years there, unnoticed by his parents, in and out of moody poetry writing phases, writing and singing unappreciated songs with his guitar, and pouring his guts out at soccer, loving the feel of his chest splitting open in pain from the agonizing sprints that he would make. He entered freshman year with one thing on his mind; to be himself totally and completely, and to be placed into a clique that would be okay with that. And the clique that he would enter was the Geeks and Nerds, something he had known since his sister had started drinking. He knew full well that she hated him, and had since he was five years old, but it didn’t bother him much. He befriended a clique that wouldn’t threaten her, and wouldn’t make him into something he wasn’t.

He wasn’t entirely a Nerd or Geek, though he was smart enough to be one. However, with his appealing looks, muscular build, and talent in the athletic ‘department’ he could have gotten himself into the Jocks in a heartbeat. He was smarter than that.

Full Personality [at least two paragraphs]:
Musician
The strums of his guitar can be heard throughout the day, with the husky sound of his bittersweet voice. His lyrics reflect what happens to him, what he cares about, and other things that are important in his life. When he locks himself up in his room writing and experimenting with chords he can stay there for hours, without emerging for meals or any other breaks. It is at times like these that Kaz’s expressive, emotional, thoughtful side comes out, and he allows the memories of everything he dislikes to cloud his mind; so that he can separate the good and bad, the happy and the sad, and write the lyrics out, separating the thoughts like an egg. His music, however, is just that; his. He doesn’t share it with anyone, and doubts that his parents or sister hears it over loud music, television, and the general expanse of the house. While he wishes, and hopes, that his music will be discovered, he isn’t sure how since he hasn’t had an opportunity, at least one that he went for, to play on stage or let someone else use his music. And for some of his songs he would need someone to play the other parts; percussion and bass, along with backup vocals.

The Chef
It isn’t a side of him that he shares, but it is something that he does, and enjoys doing, no matter the social consequence he would receive if someone decided to spread it around. While Kaz isn’t entirely worried about the social scene, he does appreciate having a few mates to hang around with, and a bit of respect on the soccer field. He started baking as young as three years old with his mother, just the basic chocolate chip cookies, gingerbread, and of course peanut butter cookies. By the time he was seven he could cook several different varieties of meals, and would cook dinner once a week. He also could make bread, both quick and the day long, and didn’t need his mother tagging along behind him to make them. By now he is a full fledged chef, with a bit of baking he knows as well, and can make just about any recipe he finds. He still is considering taking culinary courses in college, and perhaps making a career out of it, hence assuming his music will stay in its current obscurity.

The Romantic
He can be a hopeless romantic at heart. The few dates that he has asked girls to go on, and have been accepted, he plans what they are going to do so that it will be a night to remember. From long walks on the beach, under a starlit sky, ice cream at three in the morning, or singing and dancing in the rain, when a girl goes on a date with him, she is sure to be entertained. Of course, the girls that he goes for are normally the kind that can have fun doing anything, in any place. The kind that can get dirty, but don’t mind getting dressed up. And the sort that you can talk to for hours and still is able to walk them home and talk on the phone with them again. He appreciates it when they listen, and he likes to hear them talk. And all-in-all, he has only been in one relationship that ended when the girl moved to Australia. He hasn’t truly fallen for anyone, yet. But he is still looking for the perfect somebody, who he would go to the ends of the world and back for, just to show his love for them.

The Sensitive
She left him, with just a peck on the cheek and a quick good-bye. And moved to Australia, without having written since.
The young boy in the water, not the ground under his feet. Chased the little girl deeper, now she hates him more.
The two incidences have left scars of remembrance in his heart, of his sister’s hating him, no matter what he does to try to make it up to her nor what he does to protect her. The girl that he had nearly confessed his love for, nearly kissed her again, only for the news of her moving to hit him hard in the chest, more painful that any blow he could have received. Kaz has always been sensitive. Not the type to cry because a girl broke up with him, in a roundabout sort of way. Not the kind to immaturely hate someone, just because they hated him. He wouldn’t throw a fit in a public place, and chances are he wouldn’t in the privacy of his own home. But he sulks. He feels depressed, days in a row he will stay up writing in his room during break. Poetry will lie scattered on the floor, pages torn apart before he fell into a fitful sleep hours later. He’s sensitive, and can easily have his heart torn out.

The Complaints
For everything that Kaz is okay with, there is one thing that he isn’t. he doesn’t complain to people directly, or in a way that seems like he is being negative and saying everything that he dislikes in a listing sort of way; it will perhaps just slip out as a sidenote to something in the conversation. But there are a few things that he can easily explain why he dislikes them.
Energy Drinks. It was in fifth grade that most of his friends were drinking them. Red Bull and such, and he thought they would taste repulsive. But all the same, they were in class each and every day, until one of his teachers explained them in a simple way. And since then he has thought of them to taste much like beer, only with the consistency of oil. And so, he doesn’t drink them, dislikes the smell of them, and throws away any of them that his sister leaves in the improper place; a place that he sees them.
Homophobes. He figures that homophobes are just as weird as if there was a heterophobe floating around. It isn’t as though being around someone gay or lesbian is going to rub off on you, or that that person is physically attracted to you as well. It merely means that they like someone of the same sex. That is understandable. But bisexuals get to him. He’s okay with people liking the same sex. He’s fine with people being “regular” and liking the opposite. But trying to have both of them? It just becomes awkward, to do something with a guy, then say you have a date with your girlfriend… Not right in his mind.
Anorexics and Bulimics. First off, most of the girls at his school that are anorexic or bulimic aren’t fat. They are skinny. And were skinny to begin with. But then decided that they were fat, and became grossly skinny, instead of regular skinny. And, if you want to lose weight, go on a good diet. Eat healthy food, not basically nothing, but a bag of chips or a soda. And exercise. Don’t waste your time puking or glaring at yourself critically in the mirror, go to a gym, go running, something.
While he does have complaints, he doesn’t go around shouting at people for being one thing or another, he just doesn’t associate himself with them.

Anything Else?: .

Full Appearance [at least two paragraphs]:
A quick glance in his direction will leave the viewer with a pleasant memory, but nothing special to truly remember him by. Muddy brown hair, straight and fairly short, sticks out in all directions, in an almost purposeful attempt at a messy haired look. He does virtually nothing to his hair, merely rolls out of bed to a shower, and allows it to dry naturally while on his way to school. Eyes are a murky chestnut color, which shows his emotions as well, or better, than what he could ever explain them as. Most of the time they possess a twinkling of humor, and just a drop of sarcasm; as if always making a joke without speaking.

A mature face, though still young; for his bones are set in a serious way, with a square jaw and a hard brow. His appearance echoes that of his father’s, even in the young fourteen year olds features; and while he does look as serious as his father, when he smiles, unlike his father, his entire face erupts into a joyous sort of look, with white, straight teeth sparkling from his thin lips, his cheeks being filled with a rosy color, ears lifting, and brow softening in a welcoming way. It is at these moments that his mother’s happiness is shown through his young face, and his father’s features are softened like butter.

The Mediterranean is brought to life in his skin; the tan complexion with a hint of olive tone to it cause him to look tan year round without the need of sunlight, though he gets plenty of it anyway what with swimming, soccer, surfing, and other outdoor things. He stands a mere half inch over his sister, a height worthy of being called short. While his mother is convinced that he will hit another growth spurt soon, he knows that he won’t get more than a few inches taller, anyway. Weighing in at one hundred and ten pounds, he isn’t a very big guy, though there isn’t an ounce of fat on him. Each and every pound is earned only by the muscles that make up his sturdy, though wiry, build.

He isn’t a distinct person, and wouldn’t stick in someone’s mind as a ‘hottie’ might, but he wouldn’t be remembered as ugly, either. However, the only truly distinguishing thing in his appearance is the scar left slashed across his right shoulder blade; something that, while he can’t see it, whenever he goes for a swim or it’s shirts versus skins in scrimmages, is shown for the rest of the world to see. It wasn’t a gruesome accident, wasn’t an attempt at murdering him; it was merely his stupidity to be cut, slashed open, more-so, by coral. He was snorkeling with a few of his buds while on a vacation, and went under a bit of reef, only to feel a sharp, immense pain in his back. There were dangerous red clouds surrounding him, seeing as this was territory that was roamed by sharks. His mates pulled him to the surface, as he began to lose consciousness from the loss of blood and the toxins of the coral. After twenty-some stitches the gaping cut was sewn together, one night in the hospital and he was released in the morning; to a nearly crying mother, a thankful father, and a slightly shaken up sister. When it healed the scar was still eleven inches long, just as his age had been at the time.

Kaz’s clothing is stylish, though laidback in a comfortable way. Seeing as his family was certainly earning a large income, they were relaxed on what their children were allowed to purchase, not minding if a shirt was slightly more expensive at that store than at the other. While he doesn’t entirely take advantage of it, he does shop at many of the same places as his sister; Hollister, American Eagle, and the occasional Abercrombie clothing adorns his frame. While he does care about his appearance with his clothing, he does manage to keep style while being perfectly comfortable in half price jeans and shoes that may not be made by DC or other well-known brands.

Roleplay

Roleplay Sample: There were a million ways that he could answer the girl. The vast majority of which were only usable when surrounded by his friends, the people who would instantly judge the girl as a loser, for who honestly cared about science, biology, evolution to be specific, enough to spend spare moments of their precious, money enriched lives with it. Of course, there was no true way of telling if this girl had a money enriched life, without asking, that is. If she did, she didn’t entirely like to flaunt it in people’s faces as Lukas, and posse of friends, did, by wearing flashy labels.

He quickly ran his fingers through his hair, blinking a few times to clear his head. Why was it that he couldn’t just blow the girl off right now, just laugh at her book, what she said, make fun of something with her appearance, and leave smiling? It was something that he had done on several occasions. But always then he had been with his friends, someone had noticed the girl sitting alone, and the “fun” had started. But here he was, away from all his friends, talking with a girl that could quite possibly ruin his reputation, and at that moment, he was willing to risk it, just to see what it was like talking to her.

He let his eyes wander from the book cover to the girl herself. His brown eyes looking into her clear blue ones, wondering if she would look back into his. Realizing that it was, in fact, he was supposed to be responding at this point in time, he sat up a bit more, taking a sip of the chocolately substance to buy for time. How do you answer someone about something that he really didn’t have an interest in? Of course, science was quite possibly his worst subject, something that his mother, or rather adoptive mother, wasn’t entirely happy about. A tutor couldn’t hurt, assuming that he actually talked to her long enough that she would care if he was barely getting by in science.

Evolution… So is this for your science class or do you just like knowing that I turned from a monkey into an intelligent monkey-person?” It was quite possibly the worst attempt at humor that he had experienced, but he was dying here. Perhaps he should tell her that it was his worst subject. But how can you respond to that? Oh, that’s too bad. See, it’s my best subject, I do all the extra credit and everything. Good luck passing the midterm, though. She wouldn’t feel ridiculous saying that, at all. But, unable to come up with anything else, he decided he would have to risk it. “Science is sort of, well, definitely, my worst subject.

And now, as though playing an agonizing game of catch, he had just thrown the ball back to her. He leaned back in his seat again, for that throw seemed to have taken a great deal of thought. And seemingly, as well, it had drained an immense amount of energy, and color, from his body. Now what could she say that would make me sound any less stupid.
