What is an IC Chat?

An IC chat is a more fast paced, informal form of roleplay. In an IC chat, you can have things like one-liners and *action cues*. While our more formal roleplaying board requires you to post using proper grammar and word minimums, this is more like a quick way of getting a thread across.

If you’ve ever been to a site with an IC Chatbox, this is sort of like that. Only more personal, as you can have private threads with one person.

When should I use the IC Chat?

Whenever! Granted, IC Chats are more suited for things like “first meetings” or “casual conversation” threads that, when normally roleplayed out are more slow and sluggish. IC Chats are a great way to jump the first hurdle, see if two characters have a general connection, and then move to the normal board to plot out the more in depth stuff. It’s also good for when you’re lacking muse and want to get a character going.

Granted, they can also be used for bigger plot points, but we suggest saving more in depth stuff for the more in depth roleplay.

We also would prefer if you didn’t just IC Chats on XOXO, but there is no limit to the number of chats you can have.

Isn’t this like cheating?

Of course, some people will use the IC Chats to get around the word minimum. But, people who just use the IC Chats won’t get the “reward” of a higher post count. So, no, not really.
