The Iguan was created to be a step up from the Godos. Guylos spies made off with the design schematics of the Godos, and Guylos engineers made it into a fairly impressive front-line Zoid. It obviously shares many characteristics with the Godos, from its upright stance to the majority of its weaponry. Needless to say, the Empire wasn't really creative with this project.
However, the Empire did give it a relatively powerful impact gun to replace one of the gripper claws, and attached a booster unit to the back, accounting for the speed difference between the Iguan and Godos. Thus, the Iguan has quite a bit of firepower and maneuverability for its size, as well as a lot of speed for its size. Not only that, but it has far better armor coverage than the Godos; only the chest is really uncovered, and the armor it has isn't quite as thick as that of the Godos. While this zoid is a throwback to the ancient wars of Planet Zi, it finds itself simply outmatched by the newer zoids of the day. Still, collectors everywhere can marvel at the history it gives us.
Weapons:
20mm Beam Cannons
The Iguan has four of these; one on the head, one on the right arm, and two on the tail. The one on the head is really the only one that can move, but it can move from front to back by angling upwards. The other three are capable of moving with the limb they're attached to. In any case, these are standard beam weapons, firing at semi-auto- though the tail mounted ones have a spread more like an AMD gun.
Dual Anti-Aircraft 20mm Flak Gun
These tail-mounted cannons give the Iguan some rear and anti-air defense, being mounted to the tip of the Zoid's tail. Each fires two shells per second, and can recline from straight up to straight back. They fire flak ammunition that bursts into a cloud of shrapnel due to a timed detonator, and are quite good against aerial Zoids and unarmored targets for that reason.
Quad Impact Gun
In many ways, this is the predecessor to the much more powerful impact cannons found on later Zoids. Mounted in place of the Iguan's left gripper claw, it fires shells that blast apart on impact, doing considerable (for the time, anyway) damage to a Zoid's armor or body structure. Of course, those on the Iguan are only 40mm, and thus are limited in utility; also, the accuracy and power of the weapon drops significantly as the range passes 100 meters. This gun fires one round per barrel every other second, thus its large number of barrels.
Gripper Claw
The Iguan's single remaining gripper claw is exactly like that on the Godos. It's capable of moving objects out of the way of the Iguan, but not too much more than that; even so, it can still be used to at least scatch the paint off the zoids that get too close.
