As a fore note- the Zoids Wild Frontiers version of Zi’s history is a combination of the anime and battle story versions. This is for several reasons- the anime supersized the Death Saurer and Ultrasaurus, and the portions of battle story coming after the comet impact are very hard to find in any readable form, not to mention the fact that the ones that I have found are difficult to make sense of. It doesn’t help that some of the dates just don’t match up- for example, the Garius was supposedly made in ZAC 1930, and used against the Zenebas Empire…which didn’t form until after ZAC 1975. I had to bend events to create a working timeline.
Pre ZAC 1930-1955: In the early days of Zi, Zoids were simply animals that wandered the planet, oblivious to the wars conducted by the Zoidians. These wild Zoids ran free, living for survival rather than combat as most animals do. However, around the year of ZAC 1930, it was discovered that the techno-organic core of a Zoid could be placed inside a robotic body, giving it a form of life and an extreme amount of military capability. Over the next few years these Zoids were harnessed for war by the tribes of Zi, though the technological level left much to be desired. Eventually the leader of the Wind Tribe and its allies, Helic Muroa, grew weary of the conflicts and sought an end to them. However, the tribes of his continent were not so easily convinced- particularly the Earth Tribe and its allies led by a man named Guylos. Guylos sought the aid of a more warlike set of tribes from the continent of Nyx, and led them against the tribes of his home Delphoi. Doing so caused the tribes of his home continent to unite against the common enemy, and Helic was elected the president of the newly formed Helic Republic. Following their defeat, the armies of Nyx retreated home, along with an exiled Guylos.
ZAC 1978: Helic Muroa dies, leaving behind two sons by the name of Zenebas and Helic, one leading the military and the other acting as president.. Zenebas proved to be a very aggressive man, seeking to conquer anyone who might possibly be a threat to the Republic, while Helic was a more moderate man who aimed for peace. Differing viewpoints caused much friction here, especially since the two men were of different mothers- from the Earth Tribe and Wind Tribe respectively. The situation worsened until Zenebas was finally exiled, forming his own empire with the help of former Earth Tribe soldiers.
ZAC 1980-2029: Rising tensions led to a massive arms race between the Helic Republic and Zenebas Empire, culminating in a border dispute over the Red River area. War broke out, and the two sides fought using primitive Zoids and infantry forces. However, neither side had an advantage, and the war became a series of indecisive skirmishes that continued on until for almost fifty years. In 2029 a strange incident occurred, however- a ship from Earth called the Globally 3 crashed into Delphoi, along the border of Helic and Zenebas. Many of the humans onboard survived, and were assimilated into both nations quickly. The advanced technology on the ship was used to further develop the combat ability of Zoids, and the stalemate broke quickly.
ZAC 2030: The Helic Republic begins to field Gojuli, super heavy Zoids capable of overpowering almost everything Zenebas had. While Helic held the advantage for a time, the stalemate resumed when Zenebas fielded the first Iron Kongs.
ZAC 2032: Gambino, Zenebas’s top general, stages a revolt in hopes of ending the war. The ploy fails, and Gambino commits suicide to atone for going against his emperor. His son, Störmer, is adopted by Zenebas himself.
ZAC 2039: After many years with few changes in the battle lines, the Helic Republic fields the first Ultrasaurus. The enormous Zoids steamroll Zenebas Empire forces, and soon the Zenebas capitol falls into Helic Republic hands. Zenebas and his family flee to Nyx, while the war on Delphoi ends. Zenebas makes a pact with the Guylos Empire that has formed on Nyx over the years, and soon Guylos Zoids begin production to replace Zenebas’s lost armies.
ZAC 2042-2044: After three years of peace, Zenebas returns to retake the entirety of his former empire, and crushes the Helic units stationed in the former Zenebas Empire. The first of the monstrous Death Saurers take the field in 2044, proving more than a match for Helic Ultrasauruses. Only two years into the conflict, Helic City falls and the Helic army and government retreat into the mountains.
ZAC 2048: After several years of development, the Helic Republic completes the Mad Thunder, a Zoid designed to destroy the Death Saurer. Helic forces storm their capitol, and the Death Saurers prove to be no match for the new Zoids- not to mention their escorts. The Zenebas armies crumble under the assault, and as Helic armies approach the Zenebas capitol once more, Zenebas seeks the aid of Guylos again. The Guylos Empire agrees to help, only to betray Zenebas and attack both armies, taking Zenebas and his daughter Elena captive. What remains of the Zenebas army is absorbed by Guylos forces.
ZAC 2051: People begin to notice the nature destroying effects of the Deochalcum many Guylos Zoids ran off of in the form of dying plants and animals. Soon water sources begin to dry up as well.
ZAC 2053: To push Guylos armies away from Delphoi, Helic Republic forces invade Nyx. At first the assault goes somewhat smoothly due to the introduction of new Helic Zoids, but Guylos made Gylvaders led by Störmer attack the Helic forces, crushing their air support and Mad Thunder units. The war turns toward Helic lands again, until the overhyped reports of the new Helic Orudios cause Guylos forces to back down.
ZAC 2056: The most destructive Zoid ever created, the King Gojulas, is deployed by Helic. Guylos forces are pushed back right to their capitol, but the final confrontation is halted by a meteor that destroys one of Zi’s moons, raining down debris onto the planet. Both armies are annihilated, and most of Nyx sinks into the sea. Zenebas is killed, but his son Prozen and daughter Elena survive. Many Zoidians are killed, and the Zoidian/Human populations merge. By the end of the century, humans are considered the main inhabitants of Zi, though most of the Zoidians have simply merged with their population.
ZAC 2057-2099: Elena assumes a false name and manages to obtain the presidency of the Helic Republic. Prozen becomes a prominent member of the Guylos Empire, now more like Zenebas than the old Guylos. The Guylos emperor dies, leaving behind only a ten year old son named Rudolph. Prozen assumes the regency until Rudolph is older, but begins to plot Rudolph’s assassination in order to revive the Zenebas Empire. Meanwhile, organoids begin to appear for the first time in years, along with Ancient Zoidians from many years ago.
ZAC 2099: A boy by the name of Van Flyheight discovers one such pair, and with the help of the organoid Zeke revives a Shield Liger and fights off a gang of bandits. Afterwards he revives the other member of the pair, the Zoidian Fiona. The bandits encounter him a number of times, eventually splitting up due to the defeats. Meanwhile, a new war begins to brew, catching Van and his companions in the middle a number of times. A savage pilot named Raven leads a siege on the Helic capitol with his organoid Shadow, but it is soon broken by Van and the Republican army, along with a ceasefire ordered by Rudolph. The leaders of the bandit gang he defeated form a plan to kidnap Rudolph and get a ransom for him. Fortunately the plan coincides with Prozen’s assassination attempt, and they end up saving Rudolph from death. Prozen finds the prototype Death Saurer inside a mountain near his capitol of Guygalos at the same time, and granted Raven a Geno Saurer based on the design while he attempts to revive the Death Saurer. Raven nearly kills the bandits who took Rudolph with the new Zoid, but Rudolph himself escapes cleanly. Van encounters Rudolph, and his group agrees to escort him to the Guylos capitol to prevent Prozen from taking control and restarting the war. The first Blade Liger comes into existence after Raven kills Van’s Shield Liger and it is evolved by Zeke and Fiona. They continue their journey to the Imperial capitol as Helic Republic forces advance, both groups fighting off Prozen’s loyalists. Van destroys the Geno Saurer, and the Helic Forces storm Guygalos with the help of Rudolph’s followers, only to have Prozen unleash his Death Saurer on the city. Due to the combined efforts of the former bandits, now piloting Storm Sworders, Van and his group, Rudolph’s followers, and the Helic army, the enormous prototype Saurer is defeated. A time of peace ensues with Rudolph’s coronation.
ZAC 2101: Hiltz emerges with his Death Stinger, reeking havoc across both nations, and tying up the newly formed Guardian Force. Raven also returns, using a new Geno Saurer and then a Geno Breaker thanks to Shadow. While Hiltz and his Death Stinger are defeated by a newly restored prototype Ultrasaurus- oversized like the Death Saurer-, he returns thanks to his organoid Ambient. Under the leadership of Prozen, the Eisen Dragoons and Prozen Knights stage a coup d’etat against Rudolph, forcing him out of Guygalos and causing the Guylos armies to flee to the Helic Republic alongside Rudolph. The Neo Zenebas Empire forms. The Helic/Guylos Guardian Force, along with the combined armies encounter Prozen once again, merged with a Death Saurer and Hiltz’s Death Stinger, but Van and Raven join forces to eliminate him, and thanks to their efforts along with the Ultrasaurus, Prozen is killed. Both armies are devastated in the process, but continue to fight the Neo Zenebas Empire fervently. However, they prove to weak to continue, and are forced onto the Eastern Continent after Zenebas takes the Helic capitol with their new Seismosaurus. Elena is killed, and her son Herman takes control of Helic. Here they develop new Zoids while Prozen’s son Wolff Muroa leads the Neo Zenebas Empire into a more moderate form, hoping to end the war.
ZAC 2109: The combined armies of Guylos and Helic return to Delphoi, and the war begins anew. However, in a battle against his rival Ray Gregg, the power source of Wolff’s Energy Liger begins to overload, and he orders a retreat and attempts to get as far away from both armies as possible before a massive explosion destroys the everyone present. Ray uses his Liger Zero to siphon energy from Wolff’s core, and the explosion is averted. Following this event, the two sides make peace, and the war comes to a rather permanent end.
ZAC 2376-2384: Zoid battling has become no more than sport, and the old governments have merged into the Zoids Battle Commission. However, discontent is present in the form of the Backdraft Group, which opposes the ZBC. Using a Death Stinger the BDG eliminates the satellite system the ZBC has in place and attempts a take over of sorts, but with the help of the Blitz Team the Backdraft Group’s trump card, a Berserk Fuhrer, is stopped and the Death Stinger is destroyed by a newly deployed satellite much bigger than the old ones. Discontent continues after the Backdraft Group is quelled, and soon more groups form, splintering the ZBC's holding into new nations. War returns to the planet. As the year 2384 comes around, a devestating cataclysm racks the planet and decimated the population, but fails to stop the ongoing wars.
ZAC 2459: The enemy armies are finally defeated by the ZBC, but another problem arises when the western continent of Europa revolts as well. The soldiers of defeated armires join the Europan forces against the ZBC, and the already scarred planet Zi is utterly ravaged by the new war. Many sectors of the ZBC’s land defect as the ZBC tries to keep things together.
ZAC 2504: War has ceased due to the damage caused to the planet. The oceans and the very air has become toxic, and what remained of Wild Zoid populations die out. The first Super Whale King, Star Emperor, begins construction in order to escape Zi’s growing inhospitable climate. The lottery begins to see who will escape, and Hammer Kaisers and Whale Kings begin to see massive overhauls fit for long term space travel.
ZAC 2519: The final Super Whale King is completed, and the ZBC finishes its lottery. The launch date is distributed to Hammer Kaiser and Whale King owners, and those people lucky enough to have won the lottery vanish from the streets. As the year ends, the Super Whale Kings and Hammer Kaisers leave Zi.
ZAC 2587: The last remnants of life on Zi are extinguished by cataclysms.
ZAC 2762: People are brought out of cryostasis as the fleet approaches Arawn, the first inhabitable planet found during the long voyage. The fleet set down and civilization begins to rebuild. The ZBC loses its status as a world leader, and settles down on a small island with the only Ultrasaurus they were able to bring from Zi.
ZAC 2824: Bandit attacks begin to rise, though no one seems to have any idea where they are coming from or how they acquired their Zoids.
ZAC 2862: Present day.
