To Me, My X-Men!

As Karyu and Rina stepped onto the busy pier as a cool breeze whistled through the air, while the sun was still bright above, one woudl think two individuals that weren't quite social butterflies would panic at the swarms of people. But the rat race of California was nothing compared to the wall to wall seas of people of their home country of Japan.

Karyu watched as a plethora of people raced by on roller blades, which made him adjust slowly, then look down at Rina. " It will take time to adjust, but here we can start new beginnings.." The main reason for the move, was to escape a dark legacy. Karyu felt the only way to save Rina was to get as far away from her mother and father as possible. he knew eventually he rmother would find her, but it gave them time, gave him time to prepare her.

Without noticing, Karyu had clasped his hand around Rina's, holding her hand. He then looked down to notice he was holding her hand, non chalantly removing his hand and not looking at Rina, who had likely noticed. " We should find somewhere to stay temporarily until we gather our bearings, it would seem some event is taking place soon." Karyu took notice of several flyers posted to trees as well as small shacks along the pier. Something about mutants and the X-men, but alot of the flyers were marked out, some even went as far to say die muties.

It made Karyu feel uncomfortable, but he was no stranger to it. Even Japan had it's anti mutant community. Though it wa smuch less than here in the states. Karyu finally then looked down at Rina. " You okay Boo?" Karyu had grown accustom to calling her boo. Both because it was a nickname for her, but it was also to Karyu a term of endearment because of his feelings without truly letting Rina know it.

Even though she knew it would take a while, especially since she was still learning english, Rina was doing her best to think of this as a good thing. Karyu had been telling her for months before they even got to California that moving away from her parents would help her better control her more demonic side and help her maintain her sanity, at least what was left of it.

Rina stayed more behind Karyu to let him take more of the lead while on the pier and only looked up at him when he said something to her. "I know... I'll try hard to get used to it." She said softly, in her usual, timid manner. It was the most strangest thing to witness for those few that had seen her other side, she could do so much damage for someone so petite in size and sound.

She felt a warm, comforting feeling when he held her hand and just smiled softly when he let go. It always felt nice when he did little things like that but, she liked to act like she didnt notice so as not to embarass him any. She found herself more often hanging onto him then he did her though, which would happen more now while they were still getting their barings in order. She nodded to the idea of finding a safe place to stay while picking up a flyer that had a red X on it, as if he was reading her mind.

Their kind has been discriminated against since the rest of the population finally realized they existed but, it was more tollerant in Japan, as most things were. Here, she guessed, not so much. "What's a... Mooty?" She asked and pulled his arm some to guide his attetnion to the flyer in her hand. This english thing was harder then it looked. "Seems like we're trading one bad thing for another." She sighed out softly and looked up at him. She could hold her composure about it all but, was wondering what he thought about the event, "Should we attend?".

Karyu looked down at Rina. " Mutants, that is what they call us, those of us that are different, unique, those who have special abilities to do things." It was simplified terminology as he did not need to go into the exact detialsof what made one a mutant, starting from the different DNA genomes and such. Karyu was well versed, a self taught knowledge base, even those things his own government wished to keep from people.

Karyu stared off for a moment, before looking down at Rina again. " Perhaps we should, but we must be careful, it would seem fear breathes here just as much as our home, and like others, some turn fear into hate and violence." Karyu gently brushed her fingers along Rina's cheek for a moment. " But I will let no one hurt you, so long as I breathe and exist." Karyu slightly smiled as he took one of the flyers and shoved it down into his pocket.

" Are you hungry, Boo?" Neither really hadn't had substantial food since leaving Japan. All Karyu could see at the moment were an array of vendors sellign american eats, but being on the water, he knew eventually they would find a nice sushi bar, atleast he would hope. But to him it was more improtant that Rina got what she wanted. " What would you like to eat, there is alot of different cuisines you could try or we could find what we are most comfortable with first?"
