Title: A Day in the Life of an Ordinary Mutant
Description: Snowflake's Journal

My name is Elizabeth Anne Burke, and I'm a mutant. Though not many people know this, hardly any in fact, except for my 17 year old daughter Mackenzie Magda Burke. She's a mutant too and goes to the Xavier Institute.

I'm writing this journal not only so my daughter knows about my life but for others to read and learn what a basic day in the life of a regular mutant is like. I'm originally from Portland but my family moved when my dad got a job transfer to Florida. I found out about my mutant powers at the age of 15, it's funny when you live in Miami and you can make it snow during the middle of July! I was scared, I didn't know what was happening to me, the whole mutant 'epidemic' had just began to come out to the public but was still rarely spoke of. I kept my powers hidden, to fightened to even tell my parents about them. I did a good job too because they never found out. I tried to live my life like every other human, doing mundane everyday things. I graduated high school with honors and went to nursing school. Taking care of people had always been a passion of mine.

During that time I met a young man named Ryan Burke (it was funny because he had the same last name as mine and we weren't related at all). He was the sweetest man I have ever spoken too and we fell in love quickly. At the age of 19 I got married, we moved into a small home, and I got a job at one of the local hospitals in they city. Everything seemed to be going great until Ryan began to change....

It started out just as little comments here and there. Comments about how these mutants were freaks of nature, how they were dangers and menaces of sociaty. And that something needed to be done about them before it got to out of control.

When we dated the subject of being a mutant had never come up, I hid my powers for so long that I even forgot that I had them, it was just a subject that neither of us ever mentioned, until more and more it was spoke out on the news and radio.

Ryan changed so much, his usually gentle nature began to change into this dark and hateful man. I was like I didn't even know who this man was anymore. He would go to these meetings...anti-mutant meetings, they called themselves the Friends of Humanity. He would bring home their papers and news letters and try and get me to read them. I did...once. The stuff that they wrote about mutants disgusted me. Ryan begged for me to come to a meeting with him but I never would go. I would make up some excuse that I had to work or had errands to run, I vowed to myself that I would never step foot into one of their meetings.

I had never met another mutant and sometimes it felt like I was the only one, even though I knew they were all around me. Like me, they were probably in hiding as well. Too scared to come forward. Scared of what might happen to them. But one evening on my walk home from the hospital that all changed. I had finally met another mutant. He saved me. Saved me from being raped and killed. He would later become something quite special to me and I would hold him in my heart forever. Things would changed from here on out.

Four months later I found out I was pregnant, but it wasn't by my husband Ryan....

to be continued.

Entry #2 -Speedy-

My mariage seemed to be crumbling around me, even though to people on the outside it might have seemed it picture perfect. Ryan spend more time with his new Friends of Humanity buddies and I spent more hours working at the hospital in the trauma unit.

I had just got done working a double shift at the hospital and was on my walk home. It was around 3 am in the morning and I really really didn't like being out alone at this time. I hurried as quickly as I could across the street and decided to take a short cut through the alley way....Bad idea.

A man jumped out from the shadows and threatend me with a knife, just as I was about to try and defend myself another man grabbed me from behind, tossing me on the wet pavement. I tried to back away from them and I never felt so scared in my life.

But things changed.

I didn't really know what was happening but it had appeared if the men were knocked down by a huge gust of wind that seemed to come out of know where. Then just as quickly as the wind came it was gone and in it's place was a man. He grabbed one of the men and punched him in the face, knocking him out. The other man ran, and it was then that the man who had saved me ran after him with the most incredible speed. He caught him and did the same thing to him.

I got to my feet and started to sneak away but the mutant man came after me. He asked me if I was okay and if I needed to go to the hospital. I told him that I was fine. He was quite gorgeous with his stark whie hair and blue eyes. He smiled at me and introduced himself as Pietro Maximoff.
