I just finished up the third book in this series and I just love it!

It list under Young adults which is code for teenager. But Hey I read Harry Potter and it was listed under Young adults.

So this series is about a girl who moves in with her father who is the town sheriff. She attends school and runs into Edward who is different. Later we learn he is vampire. He falls for Bella and she falls for him. His world makes her a target for some rogue vamps that cross their paths. The fight ensues.

Now a movie is being made about the first book. I loved it and I would highly recomend it for a great read. Its well written, and she devulges bits and pieces of each character along the way.

for more info about the book or the movie just click the link.

My sister LOVES those books and had me read the first one. I haven't gotten a chance to finish the other ones yet, but I would like to.

We have a huge on-going disagreement with the casting for the movie, she is not impressed with who they chose as Edward and Bella. I disagree, I think they made good choices.

Thoughts?

I think that the main cast, at least for Bella and Edward, are excellent! I think they're both the best choice for the part.

I completely agree, I think both are the best choices there were. As I like to say, he already kind of has that 'undead' look about him with an air of mystery, and Kristen Stewart has that kind of average, awkward teen look about her.

I love the actors who play everyone except Edward. For me he just lacks that look of somone with wisdom. He doesn't seem nearly beautiful enough for me either. Course I haven't seen the movie yet so I could totally change my mind.

I guess the real issue is I pictured him so differently. As for Bella, the actor playing her I feel couldn't me more dead on. It feels alot like the two main actors fit together like the actors for the titanic. I felt like Rose looked to, I dont know womanly, I guess and did't fit with Leanardo very well because he looked to much like a youngster of the whopping age of 14 7.gif

Thats how I feel about the guy playing Edward. He seems I dont know he just didn't carry himself like somone who should be 110 years old. Even if he is forever 17 years old looking. My daughters boyfriend has more facial hair at 17 than this guy does. 24.gif The edward actor needs to be more manly bulit.

However on a positive note he has amazing eyes.

I agree Phases, I think Edward needs a more manly build! But the thing that really draws me to who they picked to play that part is that he has that mysterious, already vampirish look to him. I choose to ignore the rest..lol.

I just finished the other two, New Moon and Eclipse and I have to say, I really have a strong dislike for Bella. It is something I can't completely explain, but by the time I finished Eclipse I wanted to be done with her character. I will put up with her because it is what makes Edward happy, and well, I love Edward, and Jacob too for that matter. She just gets on my nerves with her wishy-washy, overly obsessive personality. That could just be the draw and attraction to a vampire, but it just seems way over the top for me. Product of the writing? I wouldn't say they are the most well written books, so maybe that is what it is for me.

I also think they will translate fairly well to the screen because as I was reading them, I found that there was a lot of almost filler material. I thought she could've reduced some scenes or overall topics, but i think that will help the screenwriting process and almost avoid the common 'cutting' of the book.
Now something that my sister and I were discussing is this whole werewolf imprinting concept, which intrigues me, but you never hear anyone using that term to describe Jacob and Bella. He never admits that he has imprinted on her, so that must mean that his 'soulmate' is out there and he just happens to be in love with Bella so he could be missing out. And I know that they mention that it was surprise that three of the pack had imprinted, but I would find that most satisfying if Jacob was to find his perfect match.
Can't wait for the 4th!

And wow, that was rather lengthy...didn't realize i had that much to say on the topic and actually i could go on...LOL

I didn't get the whole reason why she was suddenly lisving with her dad in a town she didnt like in the first place. I mean the whole mom and phil need their space thing, never did it for me.

But*shrugs* I just realized today that the actor playing Edward is the same actor that played Cedric in the Harry potter movies. Suddenly, I feel like he might be able to pull off the Edward character.

I feel ya Amelia, My issue with Bella began in New Moon. She was defiantly wishy washy trying to decide who it is she wanted to be with and it made me nuts.

I am about 11 chapters away from finishing breaking dawn. That book I began loving it as I read then I turned to shock, then dread, maybe a couple of oh come on moments, to sigh of relief.

Right now Im in a happy place..........sorda. There is so much left to read that some more drama is bound to ensue. Its a good read certainly kept me guessing. I read Midnight sun online also. I cant wait for that to come out.

Here is a link to one person's take on the books. The link takes you to her chapter-by-chapter reaction to the fourth book, but it has links to the first three as well. Very amusing and well worth the read! I got a good ab workout laughing at her thoughts.

Okay, I know that I'm a little late to this thread, but I just got into the Twilight Saga via a (much younger) co-worker.

And much to my absolute horror I am completely in love with the Edward character. And I saw the movie first!!! blink.gif

Okay, I'm not quite old enought to be Pattinson's monther, but damn close. tongue.gif

I'm in the process of reading the books now and I feel better about the whole Edward being crazily attractive thing. I mean, it's much easier to think of him as a 110 year old vampire when reading the books. I have to say that they are surprisingly good - if Bella does get annoying at times. I had a hard time getting through New Moon because I kept getting bored, but there were a lot of laugh-out-loud moments in Eclipse.

I also read the first 12 chapters that were leaked of Midnight Sun and found seeing things from Edward's point of view very interesting.

Anyway, being the old lady that I am, I watched the movie out of curiosity (mostly becuase of the whole *sparkling* thing tongue.gif ) and found it enjoyable and decided to read the books. They are very much like the Harry Potter books in that they are an easy read, but fun never the less.
