Merry Meet to you in West Texas, from Calgary Alberta Canada!

I found your site and forum and have been compelled to join and write to you.

I lived in Midland many many years ago, and most recently, visited my sister and brother-in-law for a few weeks over Christmas and New Years. Sorry about the weather. My sister says I brought it down with me, and I think she's right. I was in Tulsa Thanksgiving (yours in November, not ours in October) until Imbolc and, well, the record breaking snows and ice storms say it all!!! laugh.gif

I have daughters, and 6 grandchildren (so far anyway). One of my girls lives in the States with her hubby who just got out of the Air Force (med discharge) after 2 stints in Iraq. They were stationed in Louisiana, but are now on the way up to Montana. I like that - a 6 hour drive vs a 5 day drive or 5 hour flight! Louisiana was even a 10 hour drive from Tulsa when I went to see them in December!

So, now you know why a Canadian has joined your forum!!

And for putting up with me, I want to offer you West Texans a special deal on my website. Free shipping from me to you... Just enter voucher code "501080024" during checkout and your shipping should be wiped out!! This code is good through Jan 2008!!

Thanks for enduring my intro and indulging my wanting to touch 'home' a little. I look forward to meeting you all!

Thanks!! I'm always up for meeting new people!

I've lived in Calgary for 40 years this coming November! Dad's in the oil patch and we moved straight from Midland to Calgary in the dead of winter!

When the folks moved back to the States, I stayed with my Canadian hubby and first daughter, so there have been a lot of trips back and forth over the years. But this year, I was only going to dad's in Tulsa for a week, and ended up staying 2-1/2 months! Stranded, kindof... Canada Immigration changed their ID cards for immigrants, which I still am one, and I couldn't get back into Canada without the new card. Long story with delays, miscommunications, and the Canadian Embassy in DC and I finally was able to return home! I never knew how much I loved living here until I couldn't go home when I wanted to!!

Funny though... I was colder there in those wintry blasts than I've ever been up here! (Well, almost!) Calgary is drier than West Texas, if you can believe that, so the humidity in Tulsa - and even in Midland - was hard to take and the cold just seeped in through all the layers!

Is there a post here where I can get to know some of the other members? I hope so!!

Bright Blessings!

We do have the meeting place forum where others have shared. Unfortunately the forum has been slow as of late. It hasn't been as easy to be a community here as I would have hoped.

Hey.... What about stuff to do in Midland? I've heard there are bars, but I've only been able to find two of them listed because it costs money to have them listed in the yellow pages. Any places recommended?
