.A Brief History.
Formed by dragonriders who escaped the barbaric North, Vulnera began life as a stronghold and haven where dragons could be free from the threat of being eaten. That's right. Eaten. A crazed Lord had acquired a taste for dragon flesh and gained quite a following of the practice. Eventually, dragon Hatchings were witnessed not only with excitement, but with hunger.

Turns of this barbarism were allowed to pass before a brave few, appalled by the slaughter of dragonkind, struck out against these so called Dragon Masters. Violently freeing themselves from their oppressors, they fled to the empty Southern Continent where they gained followers and support.

A war was waged against the North. Vulnera's forces grew strong. Dragons were trained not only to fight Thread but to battle one another. An unfortuante necessity if Vulnera was to survive the waves of attack. And survive it did. Lead by a small but well-trained force, Vulnera's riders orchestrated strike after strike against bastions of Dragon Eaters in the North. Their victories were hard fought, and they did not always come away unscathed. Many felt that the war to abolish the practice would never end. But, by some grace of the First Queen, it did end.

Vulnera enjoyed a brief, but prosperous victory.

Two Turns in which to mourn and celebrate, rebuild and review. For a time, it seemed as though the soldiers that had fought against the North would be able to retire.

Naturally, something had to prevent that.

A storm brews in the North. One the likes of which Pern has not yet seen. Not only is a Pass beginning, but there's some new and unknown threat that Vulnera will be faced with. One that hunts in the dark. One that taints the minds of the Wild beasts and drives them to an unnatural violence. There is talk of an uprising.. but of what? Who? Much is shrouded in mystery, but one thing is for certain..

Vulnera needs Riders. Vulnera needs Handlers. And it desperately needs suitable candidates.

Queens are rising left and right - a sure sign that something is coming. With Vulnera's Senior Queen already egg heavy, the search is on for candidates of sound body and mind.
