GoldsGold dragons are the traditional queens of the weyr, and they know it. They are usually quite vain and very smart, and have a loyal streak a mile long. Golds are the most vocal of the dragons in the weyr and will occasionally bespeak humans other than their riders. They impress ONLY to heterosexual women who have strong leadership qualities and will not rise until they are at least one and a half years old. They will only rise once every two turns in an interval, and once a turn during a pass. Queens do not chew firestone, as it would make them sterile, and instead will either carry a rider holding a flamethrower or simply direct dragons in threadfall. Clutching InfoSexual Maturity: 1 and a half turns. Rise: Once every two turns during an interval, twice a turn during a pass. Chased by: Bronzes, Browns, and Solars. Clutch: 10-25 eggs, Faranth was known to clutch over 60 eggs. BronzesBronze dragons are traditionally the largest of the males. As such, they have a history of winning queen flights and rising to leadership positions. With high intelligence, Bronzes are generally very high functioning and fantastic in a crisis. They are less likely to bespeak a human being other than their rider, but certainly have no reservations about doing so. While their Queen counterparts strictly choose women, Bronzes select male riders who have strong leadership potential. With a stamina that is rarely matched by any other dragon, Bronzes can last entire Threadfalls (according to the Harper records). Bronze dragons and riders typically find themselves as Wingleaders and Wingseconds, given their dragons' abilities to command. BrownsBrown Dragons are the sturdy divide between the Metallics and the Chromatics. Their large size makes them somewhat uncommon, but not at all rare. In terms of intelligence, Browns nearly match their bronze brothers, but tend to use their smarts to get things done instead of commanding others. Upon Hatching, Browns typically choose men of any sexuality and walk of life. On occassion, they may take a female rider if she tends to be somewhat masculine or duty-oriented. Browns can grow quite large and will sometimes give Chase in a Queenflight. Should a brown catch a queen, the clutch will be smaller than average and contain no queen eggs, and may or may not have bronze. Browns have excellent stamina and may match a Bronze during a threadfall, but will be exhausted by the end. Because of their mild temperments, brown dragons make excellent Weyrlingmaster dragons; a position where patience is crucial. They are also capable of being Wingleaders, should the need arise. Clutching InfoSexual Maturity: 9 Months Rise: Twice a turn Chased By: Any Male Clutch: Very Rarely Clutch; 3-5 Eggs Blues With quick wit and creativity, Blue Dragons are quite intriguing. They do not often match their siblings with stamina or prowess. Instead, they choose to put their energy toward more intellectual endeavors. They enjoy the hobbies of their riders greatly; some even go so far as to try and attempt these hobbies, in their own way. A carpenter rider may find his dragon attempting to carve something on a large tree, for instance. Blues generally don't speak to humans other than their riders as they forget names quite easily. During a threadfall, Blue dragons usually fly in the wing dedicated to agility and precision, and will work in shifts with other like colors so as not to exhaust themselves. While men of any sexuality are a blue dragon's normal choice, they may also select women who are homosexual or bisexual. Heterosexual women aren't off the list of possibilities either, but Impressions to them are somewhat rare. Clutching InfoSexual Maturity: 1 turn Rise: 2-3 times a turn Chased by: Any male Clutch: 2 eggs at most, MUST be caught by a Bronze or Darkness, and the weyr MUST be in need of eggs GreensGreen Dragons come in many shapes, shades, varieties and flavors. It's quite difficult to describe an average green because so many of them tend to be anything but average. While one green may be bubbly and excitable, another could show accute aggression that would rival that of a Darkness. While their intelligence is less than that of browns and blues, they tend to appear smart because of their tendency to focus on other people. They enjoy knowing what happens in the Weyr. And talking about it, which gets them labled as gossips and flirts. Some greens prefer not to speak to a human other than their rider, but many often choose to chat up anyone who will listen. No matter the general temperment of a green, one thing is quite common among this color. When they become proddy, their moods tend to become more aggitated. Short temperedness is not uncommon for a green when she's close to rising. Upon hatching day, Greens tend to choose anyone and everyone, looking more at a person's personality than their preference for partner. Clutching InfoSexual Maturity: 1 turn Rise: 2-3 times a turn Chased by: Any male Clutch: 2 eggs at the most, but it MUST be a Peridot, and it HAS to be caught by a Bronze, Brown or Darkness. WhitesWhile their small stature appears to make them somewhat inneffectual for battle, a White's high intelligence makes them useful to a Weyr for many reasons. Unlike most dragons, Whites have the ability to remember much of what they learn, hear, and see. This comes in especially handy for Betweening, as White Dragons can adjust themselves in the nothingness to reach precisely where and when they intend to. These dragons neither rise or chase, which to many riders is a blessing. Their choice of Impression is varied, though they tend to gravitate toward people who need a boost of confidence, or require something consistant in their life. For their size, White dragons have exceptional stamina, and work best in roles that require bravery, intelligence, or even a little espionage. Clutching InfoWhites do not Rise. Gender Ratio F- 50% Male- 50%

SilversThe major difference between a gold and a Silver dragon are, aside from the obvious coloration, their typical personalities. Silvers do not share their golden counterparts' vanity or bossy tendencies. Instead, Silvers are more altruistic and tend to put the needs of others far above their own. Despite their queen status, Silvers tend to be somewhat mousey with self esteem issues. On occassion, a silver may hatch that feels just fine about themselves, but it will generally turn into self doubt by the time they reach adulthood. It is unknown why this happens to silvers; the riders of these dragons will have their work cut out for them. Silvers gravitate toward heterosexual women who are gentle and understanding. Should a silver chew firestone, she will be rendered infertile. Silver dragons are intense pacifists and abhor battle, and as such will not engage in any kind of fighting. While they may not be sure of themselves, Silvers provide a kind of encompassing comfort to those they take into their care. The attention of a Silver could be likened to that of a doting mother figure. A nursemaid, almost. Clutching InfoSexual Maturity: 1 Turn Rise: Once every two turns during an interval, once a turn during a pass. Chased by: Bronzes, Browns, Solars, and Darkness's. Clutch: 8-15 eggs DarknessesProbably one of the more unpleasant mutations to have arrived on Pern, Darkness dragons have a reputation for being visious, sinister, and diabolical. Their intelligence rivals that of Gold dragons and, when paired with their disregard for authority, can mean trouble for whatever Weyr they reside in. This dragon's hair-trigger temper and penchant to stay angry can be exhausting for their rider. They tend to choose riders whom they think are weak willed, or those who have a similar mindset or temperment. In the North, prior to the end of the Dragonmaster's rule, Darkness dragons were killed the moment they hatched. Because of this, it was unknown what would happen if a Darkness could not find a rider on the sands. Since then, a single incident has been recorded at Vulnera; the dragonet went on a murderous rampage before being chased Between. Darkness dragons rise and chase; females may lay small clutches but are prone to destroying the eggs as soon as they're laid. It's a rare instance when a Darkness clutch will actually harden and hatch. While much about Darknesses may seem negative, their alertness and almost primevil sense of things prove useful to the Weyr. They make fantastic Watchdragons and, in time of war, excell on the battlefield. Clutching InfoSexual Maturity: 9 months Rise: Twice a turn Chased By: Bronzes, Browns, and Solars Clutch: 1-5 eggs; Will destroy eggs if not monitored SolarsIf you see a streak of red in the sky pulling risky stunts or back-breaking maneuvers, you're seeing a Solar Dragon. Arrogant and athletic, Solars often challenge other dragons to competitions and dares, finding self-worth in winning and displaying their prowess. In games or battle, Solars will give their all and will spur others on to do the same. It's quite difficult for them to sit still, and forcing a Solar to try and focus on something (like studying) will lead to them fidgeting and becoming frustrated. When it comes to their choice of rider, they look for someone who lives fast and hard, regardless of gender or preference. Solar dragons make fantastic game captains, and even watch dragons. They would also do well as Wingseconds, but lack the focus to be wingleaders. Clutching InfoSexual Maturity: 9 Months Rise: Three times a turn Chased by: Bronzes, Browns, Darkness's, and Solars. Clutch: Does not clutch. Dawns and DusksThe gentle and Kind Dawns and Dusks are warm, bubbly, and bright. They enjoy conversation, and will generally speak to anyone and everyone, providing that they welcome the talk of course. Despite the fact that Dawns and Dusks do not rise or chase, they choose men and women who are heterosexual and will become family oriented after weyrlinghood, or even those who already have children. These dragons have great patience, and make wonderful babysitters for both young dragonets and young humans. Because of this gentle nature, these dragons match well with roles that involve them with the Weyr creche and with other nurturing professions. Dawns and Dusks are very reluctant about fighting thread or doing battle, but will do so if the lives of younglings are in jeopardy. Regardless of how light or dark they are, dragons that are any pink shade are called Dawns. Purple dragons are called Dusks. If a D&D has both colors, whichever color is dominant dictates what they are called. Despite the difference in name, these are technically the same rank and color of dragon. The people of Vulnera simply associate them with the sky color for the time of day. Clutching InfoDawnDusks do not Rise or Chase.

MosaicsLike the other mutations to arrive on Pern, Mosaics are quite different from the traditional colors. Their hides possess each and every color that has appeared on dragonkind in a variety of ways. Some are pale with hints of color, some are dark with bold splotches or bars. In any case, Mosaics are almost completely incapable of being serious. They are jesters and jokers, playing games and practical jokes to amsue themselves. They are quite social, choosin to speak to anyone and anything that appears around them - especially to the point of being irritating. Their curiosity is akin to that of firelizards, and Mosaics will get into virtually everything. Riding a Mosaic can be trying, especially since all Mosaic dragons are born with some kind of physical defect. One defect that they all share is an inability to process firestone - meaning these dragons do not breathe fire. Mosaics choose riders that lean toward mischievous, overly curious, or simply strange. Mosaics both rise and chase, and females may lay a single egg. Clutching InfoSexual maturity: 1 turn Rise: once a turn Chased by: Mosaics or desperate males due to physical defects. Clutch: If caught, 1 egg Spectrum The Spectrums are a bit strange. A Spectrum dragon has two or three distinct hide colors that come together in a variety of ways. They can be half and half, mottled, striped, spotted, or a combination thereof. In short, they can look fairly wild. Spectrums differ from Mosaics in that their hide does NOT contain all of the colors. Spectrums commonly have as few as two or three colors, always with one color being dominant. Because of this base color, Spectrums are generally 'named' one color. An example of a Spectrum dragon with a dominant base is the WeyrWoman's dragon, Hiliath. Gold is the most prominent color and thus she is considered to be a 'Gold' dragon making Catilena a Goldrider. On rare occasion, a Spectrum can appear that does not have a dominant color. In this case, they are not named for one of their colors and are simply called 'Spectrums'. These dragons are generally a bit difficult to handle, as their moods tend to be all over the board. Normal Spectrum Dragons' personalities vary greatly, though are generally quite like their siblings whom have only a single color. Most Spectrums follow the general rules that their base color does, in terms of their sex, to whom they Impress, and what kind of person they look for.
