Marvel Ultimate Alliance, I'm low on power. But rich in Vitamin C!

A year and a half ago, Derek and I found and played through this amazing game on cooperative, and it was definitely the most fun team video game we've ever played. We tend to look for good co-op games to play together as a couple, so we've tried out quite a few, and really. This one is the best evaaaaar. (Besides Rock Band, of course)

The first time we played it through, I got introduced to my superhero crush Deadpool, as did Derek, Dr. Strange. But characters aside, it's really a charming game that might remind some people of Dark Legacy and "Yellow Archor needs food BADLY" and what have you. You go around in a group and pound, smash, kick, and explode your way through the bad guys of each level, able to switch between characters anytime. The customization options for your characters were just complicated and yet simple enough that both Derek and I were happy. How we ended up doing it was that he took care of two characters, and I took care of the other two; that way even if one died, you still had another character that you'd been leveling up also. Plus, re-spawning a downed teammate doesn't take too long, you just need to make it to the next save spot.

It's a great game for getting introduced into the Marvel universe, using what background info you might have from the movies that have come out recently like Spider-man, X-Men, etc. In between missions (and often during missions), you get a TRUCKLOAD of background information on any and all characters. There's a quiz in the headquarters that you can take to test your Marvel know-how, and even though most of the questions are like hardcore comic book nerd level, it's still fun to guess your way through.

When Derek and I played our way through the first time it was a rented game, but now we finally own the Gold Edition~ And it comes with 8 new characters. 8D We're playing through on Normal right now with Derek controlling Venom and The Hulk, and me controlling Deadpool and Nightcrawler. FUN FUN FUN TIMES.

I think I liked the way X-Men legends handled skills a bit better, but it's definitely an entertaining game.
