ROLEPLAY SAMPLE"You're right, the Halifax accent is a great improvement in my case...the husky version of which would just be wrong and hilarious I'd imagine." Lucas couldn't imagine his voice with that quality anyway. It was probably a thing more fit to horror or humour than any good use of a husky voice. This would be yet another thing to ad to the list of lifelong sorrows; no husky voiced shenanigans. "And if you do call me Bones I'll be that much cheerier. You will have done the world a service...I'm sorry, I know it's not generally something you try to do outside of the bedroom...Well, suppose the location should be used loosely." Oh the things this bartop has probably seen. For a moment Lucas was lost to his thoughts.Lucas considered it a moment, then promptly pulled out a piece of paper from his coat pocket and a pen, scrawling Petition for the lawful removal of Donne's pants across the top and penning his own name top of the list before passing said paper on to a gaggle of what seemed to be school teachers in the table behind him. They pounced at the opportunity. "Lets see...how many signatures would I need? I could probably finish tonight but, truth be told, I don't have any intentions of leaving this stool to get more. I'll have to get back to you." There was no doubt in his mind that the whole of the bar's population that night would sign. "Maybe I should just leave it by the door. Just imagine how much your wallet will thank me when that comes to pass. I might need a cut." Yes, Lucas wouldn't mind making an extra bit of cash from that."Well, if we're playing that game, to keep pretenses up I swear on my whiskey here I have absolutely no idea where you get your almost alarming animal magnetism from...now please give me more whiskey." The glass was full when Lucas asked but, one drink later, that was no longer the case. "And, if we're keeping pretenses for me as well, I'm. what, chief of surgery at St. John Memorial?" It was a wise decision to keep their stories straight if they were going to pretend to pretend, after all. Small details could get lost in that kind of meta-meta-lying.He held up his hand dismissively. "I vouched for you and was also quite amused at the results of what you were doing anyway. If pissing other people off would get you in trouble they would have had to fire me by now just for what I do on the job." Dr. Lucas Scudder was not witness friendly, especially if what said witness saw was particularly funny or easy to mock. "And I am for suppositories as long as the patient bucks up and does it themselves. People always complain about being the probed but never think about how much it must suck to be the proper when it's not all that appetizing." Right, that was a trail Lucas wasn't all together sure he wanted to explore farther. It was best to tread back carefully through that minefield of thought. "Five showers total since the incident and one immediate dive into a cleanish pool before I could get to the hotel on-site." There was that initial pool cleaning, the two showers at the hotel which he absolutely refused to let Kwan and Aronson hurry him through, ferry schedule be damned, one at headquarters as they had the most fantastic water pressure known to man, and then one in the wonderous haven that was Lucas's apartment. "And you're going to have to tell me your bog story sometime. Don't be a tease about that.""I will do my utmost to stay alive." He put his hand over his heart as he promised, looking amused at his own gesture. "And I'm holding out for sexy nurse for Halloween, just so you know." His expression changed at Donne's last statement though, a look of pure skepticism coming over his face."Adorable?" The tone was pure skepticism as well. |

You can reach me through PM, on the c-box and on aim (bumblefergie)personalityLucas is a surprising mix of people person and bad bedside manners. He has a tendency to bask in the attention from others, be it good attention or bad attention, though when he was less of a cynic this was really not the case for him. Before deciding that life could only manage to either suck or blow Lucas was a much more happy seeming person. Now he would say he's happy enough but there's a layer of bitterness to him that comes out pretty often. When it comes to work you simply don't question Dr. Scudder. You want to be a picky patient? Well too bad because you're going to do what he prescribes or die a horrible death/get your ass verbally kicked. He can be a regular drill sergeant when it comes to physical therapy to be sure. His work is where he is in charge and he will not let anyone mess with what he is in charge of. He might have some serious control issues.Outside of work, however, Lucas's confidence is faked to a very high degree. He is highly neurotic. Almost all of his decisions are based on snap judgements that, once it's too late, he considers how it's all going to come back to bite him in the ass later. So let it be clear that the one thing Lucas is asked during ambassador missions is to keep his mouth shut.historyLucas Scudder was born May 19th to Vicky Rory and Jonathan Scudder, two people that had hooked up after a party around nine months previously but had at least had the sense to realize this wasn't relationship material. He grew up going between both houses in Inverness quite easily enough. His parents were young, Vicky a starting out legal secretary and Jonathan still in school for architecture, and still fairly optimistic that things would work out just fine with their family arrangement. The positive tone to the arrangement slipped into complacency and then on into bitterness as Jonathan married. The newly blended Scudder family, now moved to nearby Aberdeen, worked just fine. Lucas got along just fine with his new stepmother and step sister but his mother did not take kindly to the fact that Jonathan had managed to marry while she was still single and prospects were becoming less and less. Her mind had settled on Lucas, already growing into a personality that was a little hard to get along with, as the reason any dates s did have that made it passed the second, soon fizzed out. There relationship became a strained one with one another thinking less and less of each other as the years went on until, despite the agreements that had been made when he was born, Lucas moved in full time with his father in Aberdeen at age 16.Life was quiet then and Lucas was quite happy with that. He had limited contact with his mother but things were quiet on all fronts, he enrolled into university at York, already knowing what he was going to go into so premed it was. He did quite well despite not being the most studious med student around. Lucas Scudder did know how to party it turned out but that wasn't evident in his grades as he was quite gifted in the art of last minute work and also was already leaning towards being an unsatisfied perfectionist over most anything. Then came full on med school in London which he did manage to take more seriously. Here he met Carrie Lawson and became sure he was going to be luckier than at least one parent when it came to settling down with someone. That wasn't exactly to be as, during the last few months of their final year Lucas made an interesting discovery involving his then fiancee, bioethics teacher, and an MRI machine that was mind-boggling to say the least. He was angry and petty enough to call of the engagement with her parents there complete with the scans taken by the machine at the time. It had made for an awkward graduation celebration dinner but he didn't feel all that guilty upon walking out without paying. He settled into residency smoothly enough and from then on concentrated on his work. It took over his life and he essentially lived for it. Work was the one thing in his life for almost a year. Then he found out Carrie was not only gone to him in the romantic sense of the word but from the living sense of it as well, finding out from a mutual friend not only did she have cancer but had died within months of finding it. That was when it dawned on him that perhaps pushing people out of your lives for good might not be the best thing for him, leading him to start talking with his mother again. Their relationship remained strained and Lucas can't help but hate the fact that he's seeing where he got a lot of his personality and outlook.Work was still the biggest part of his life though he did try to branch out. He just didn't have the confidence he had used to and he found that he was actually afraid of what it would mean for his life if he did change his current set up. Involving others in it didn't really sound like it was a good idea at all. He was good at what he did and enjoyed it so staying just like that didn't seem like a horrible thing. Years came and went like this pretty much filled with work and work drama which his natural curiosity and noisiness always kept him in but not involved with. That is until he found himself piecing together a woman who looked as if she had been gored repeatedly, and thus his connection with the Veritas Institute was starting to be formed. He helped the woman, Segupta, back together, also taking an active role in her physical therapy despite that not really being what he did. Rumors were flying among hospital staff and if Lucas could hear the talk about why he left the hospital when she was released he would either be actually embarrassed or quite proud of himself. His natural curiosity and refusal to settle had earned him knowledge of the secrets his new job entailed though and he is quite happy with that, despite his inability to deal with his own issues and maybe make some of those hospital rumors involving Segupta true.BANNER BY WHOEVERTEMPLATE BY FEDORA @ CAUTION 2.0 AND A THOUSAND FIREFLIES |
