Title: I can't read half the characters you write.
Description: Stupid font problems...

I have Japanese fonts installed on my computer, but half the stuff on this forum comes out in weird symbols. Is there something I'm missing?

Depending on your browser, somewhere under your view options there should be an option to change character encoding. I'm not sure why but I end up having to deal with 3: the default one that displays the Japanese that I type, Shift JIS which I believe is the standard on Japanese computers, and Unicode (UTF-8).

It's set on "Default".
I think it's Unicode; I'm gonna try Shift-JIS.

Yeah, its annoying. But at least the problem can be solved. I hope things go well for you.

I thought they invented Unicode to prevent stuff like this from happening. XD Oh well, maybe in the future.

If the meta tag works, the default encoding of the site should now be Shift_JIS (sorry for those using Unicode, but this way seems compatible with the most members). Your browser should still be able to override the encoding if characters still don't show up, but this should take care of most problems... I hope.
