LADIES OF THE NIGHT HOGSMEADE RESIDENTS GROW BOLDER—AND MORE FOOLISH!

Hogwarts has suffered countless allegations of misconduct this year, both where its staff is concerned and on the part of its students, particularly young ladies. While these allegations—many of which have proved true—have been addressed time and time again by Headmaster Black, who has made moves to re-secure the innocence of our daughters, it seems as if this blight of impropriety began to root itself years ago, if the behaviour of some of the ladies of our village is anything to go by. From forgetting chaperones to midnight walks, countless of our fairer sex have seen themselves grow bolder in their attitudes, but reckless in their actions. Such infringements on their safety and their reputations have varied from the mild, actions such as young girls nipping to Honeyduke’s unaccompanied, to more wild actions, such as reports of unidentified women swimming in the park in the earliest hours of morning. But who are these women, and why do they feel such behaviour is acceptable? On a night when most eyes were on the debut of Hogwarts’ finest seventh years, others were at The Three Broomsticks. One waitress, who preferred not to be named, said that on the night in question, she spotted a woman accompanying “...a MacFusty; there’re too _____________________________________________________________

many for me to keep them straight, you’ll understand” to his room; careful questioning on the waitress’ part revealed that the woman was no other than Miss Clarissa Beckett, sister to Hogwarts’ own transfiguration professor. Let us not forget, too, the actions of Mrs. Linaeve Wilkinson earlier this year, whose scandalous actions are still making waves in our community! Mrs. Olivia Pendergast, of Wellingtonshire, still denies any relation to the younger witch. But what might parents do to protect their daughters from such influences during the summer holidays? Respected etiquette instructor Letitia Swift, of Bartonburg, says that the first step should be securing proper chaperones: “Chaperones should be diligent and alert, curfews should be strictly enforced, and male company overseen and restricted.” For a daughter to be given too much leeway, after all, can result in disastrous consequences both for the misguided girl in question, and for the family that harbours her. LESTRANGE AND BAUDELAIRE BETROTHED MR. TIBERIUS LESTRANGE TO WED MISS ANTIGONE BAUDELAIRE UPON HER GRADUATION!

HThe first of many marriage announcements to be expected in wake of the recent Coming Out Ball, this paper is happy to report the engagement of Mr. Tiberius Lestrange and Miss Antigone Baudelaire. Mr. Lestrange is a recent Slytherin alumni, while Miss Baudelaire remains a student. The union will take place after her graduation. Mr. Lestrange is the heir to a moderate fortune following the incarceration of his father, Mr. Tybalt Lestrange, in 1875. Since then, Mr. Tiberius Lestrange has been under the care of the distinguished Mr. Lucius Lestrange and his family, who expressed their approval in the match between Mr. Tiberius Lestrange and Miss Baudelaire. possesses an estate in the country and states he intends to purchase a house in Wellingtonshire, as well, before his marriage to Miss Baudelaire. Miss Antigone Baudelaire is the youngest of three daughters born to Mr. Jerome Baudelaire. The family moved to Britain from Luxembourg, in 1875. While the eldest daughter attended Beauxbatons Academy of Magic, the younger Miss Baudelaires are currently studying at Hogwarts. On all accounts, Miss Antigone Baudelaire has been described as a young lady of many talents as well as fluent in four languages.
