End of Year Feast
Judy made her way down to the end-of-year feast alone that night. She, and her co-patriot pranksters, had made sure that each of the potions had made its way into at least one of the meals that would be served that night by the house-elves. She felt mildly sorry that the elves might be blamed for the prank but she doubted even her headmaster could believe them capable of such trickery. She was not early to the feast nor was she late and as she sat down she noticed that the hall was decked out in the Slytherin colours of green and silver to celebrate Slytherin's winning the house cup. A huge banner showing the Slytherin serpent covered the wall behind the High Table.

She pondered whether or not she should even attempt to catch the eye of her fellow pranksters and chose to sit with her own Ravenclaw yearmates, wondering if she could keep a straight face around Cassius. She felt like she would break into laughter at any moment. She hoped that the Headmaster would arrive soon because otherwise she'd just die in anticipation. It wasn't her first prank afterall, but it was her biggest one yet and hopefully something that would be talked about for years to come.

The children entered the hall, but did not -- of course -- quiet down properly. It took far too long after he stood for them to fall silent so he could begin his end of the year address.

"It is the end of another year here at Hogwarts. There have been a number of ... inconvenient occurrences this year, and I hope that next year will be far less eventful." Death and immorality had run rampant; he wanted a nice, quiet year next year. Well, that and Yente Ventus's spleen cooked up for supper, but a nice quiet year would do. "Please join me in a moment of silence for those students who have passed on this year: Mary Holmes a d Isis Howard." He didn't care about those who had been expelled first.

After that moment had passed -- surprisingly, actually in silence -- he continued on. "On a much more cheerful note, let us take a moment to congratulate Ravenclaw on winning the Quidditch Cup" -- his mouth thinned slightly in distaste -- "and announce the winners of the House Cup! In fourth place, Gryffindor" --- he smiled thinly in satisfaction -- "with one hundred and nine points. In third place, Ravenclaw, with one hundred and fifty-three points. In second place, Hufflepuff, with two hundred and ten points. And with two hundred and fifty-nine points" -- he smiled again -- "Slytherin!"

He looked around at the children in the hall, highly satisfied with the silver and green decorations. "Let the feast begin." With that, the food appeared from the kitchen and Phineas Nigellus Black resumed his seat.

Feasts...interesting events. He didn't mind going to them every here or there back home, but when the school had them, it seemed like there were just too many people there. He was a bit antisocial in that regard. He didn't mind people, but when there were as many as there were during that sort of thing, it just seemed too crowded...Too noisy. He couldn't seem to enjoy himself after a few minutes there. He had only gone on the very insistent request of one of his friends in Hufflepuff. He grudgingly accepted...but he got there early. He didn't want to be there when the crowd peaked at capacity, although if he wanted to do that, he wouldn't have much time. It was barely fifteen minutes early and the great hall was already packed. He sighed. Perhaps he should've brought his book.

He walked over to the Slytherin table and gathered himself a plate of food and a goblet. He had smiled slightly when the announcement had come up that Slytherin had won the house cup. He had been a help with that in classes, although he had probably lost some points with the troubles he got in once in awhile for some of the activities that he had...helped plan. Nothing too major. The occasional prank here or there or something usually a little more serious, but nothing permanent.

He picked up his food and went to one of the pillars. There were benches along them and he sat down on one of them. His hand went around the drink he had and he put it to his lips. He started to drink it, but stopped and let the liquid go back into the cup. He was good at potions. It was not his best class, but it certainly wasn't his worst. He could tell that this wasn't just pumpkin juice that he had in his hand. There was something extra in there that he didn't think was as healthy as it could be.

He let himself smell the drink a bit to try and figure out what was in it. It was a potion obviously, this wasn't the work of a spell, but he couldn't tell what. It was faint as well. He wouldn't have smelt it if he hadn't tasted it either. It was actually pretty well hidden. He looked around and many others were drinking it without noticing. He sighed. He was looking forward to the food at least. He took out his wand and waved it over the meal. There was a spell on it, but he quickly disenchanted it. He did a few more spells, but nothing else came up. He took a few bites and smiled, it was good!

He looked around the room, trying to spot anyone not eating, or at least being careful about what they ate. He wanted to know who the prankster was. He didn't really feel anger at them, but he was interested. He wanted to know who was clever with their prank. They would be a useful person (or people) to get to know. He enjoyed his food while he did this. Even if it was crowded, at least he could eat delicious food.

Blanche's good mood was punctured somewhat by the annoucement of Ravenclaw coming third, third - and to make matters worse, Rebecca's house had to win - but her spirits lifted again when they were allowed to begin eating and she could chat quietly with her friends and her twin at the Ravenclaw table.

Rather oblivious to the noise of the other tables, she took the first few bites of her meal and a hearty sip of her jiuice before carrying on quite interestedly in the conversation she was having. She and Cecilia would have to stay with friends for a time in summer to remain in Hogsmeade in order to not miss the summer solstice festival or any other magical events that occurred-

She suddenly felt an odd sensation upon her head; it was itchy almost, as if she had a large egg of a bruise mysteriously appear. And then, something started sprouting out of it - something was growing. Blanche couldn't restrain herself from the squeal she emitted, in a fit of panic, especially as she raised a spoon to her eye-level to glimpse at her own reflection. She had watched as small grey things started spreading out of the side of her head, but they grew and grew until the large, flabby elephant ears were there, waving around aimlessly, each ear alone bigger than her face.

"What is going on?" She demanded shrilly, trying to look around to see who else, if anyone, had suffered such an unfortunate... misfortune... but she couldn't see anything for the zealous flapping of the ears batting every which way as she turned, brushing her new ears indelicately across the neighbouring students' faces. "I'm sorry... Oh, help me! What do I do?" Her exclamations pelted out one after another, her tone elevating from stunned to panicked to completely, utterly mortified.

Dinner was, as usual, good; house elves were always the best at domestic tasks. No human had that sort of dedication or desire to please, which was why no human servant could match a house elf.

For a moment, everything was normal as he enjoyed a simple shepherd's pie. Then he frowned, aware that something did not taste quite normal about it. Were the house elves experimenting with new herbs and spices?

Then he saw his hand, changing rapidly from its normal color to a lurid orange. He set down his fork with great care, smoothed his robe, and took a moment to contain his building rage.

The prank, he had to say, was what he was most excited for. He did not want his OWL results - there was no way his Transfiguration grade would be satisfactory - and any excitement for the summer had been drowned out by the fact that he would not get to see Eli nearly as much as he did at school. He had refrained from telling Eli and Chace about the prank because he was mostly certain that Judy had set up a hex for anyone that told.

Ravenclaw had gotten third in the house cup but won the quidditch cup, ha ha ha, and the food appeared. With no regard for what they had or hadn't mucked with, Cash spooned the usual foods onto his plate. He quirked a smile at Judy Hatchitt and ate, looking up after a few minutes.

His shoulders shook with silent laughter. One of the Chaucer twins, he could never tell them apart, had elephant ears, and headmaster Black was orange. Cash caught his reflection in the glass of pumpkin juice and saw that his hair was swiftly turning a bright purple.

He took a gulp of his drink, thinking the thirty-second coughing fit was better than bursting out laughing right there.

Finn almost always looked forward to the end of year feast, for all that he loved Hogwarts and was rarely ever eager to leave it behind. Of course, Finley had the appetite of a hungry grizzly bear-no, scratch that last, for the magnitude of his cravings would likely put those even of the largest of bears to shame-which meant that any and all feasts were a blessing in his opinion, for the mere fact that there was so much food to be had. This year's final dinner was even further brightened by the fact that Hufflepuff had come in close second to Slytherin in running for the house cup-the latter of which he booed along with the rest of his friends.

He was happy, too, that he would be returning home to Ottery St. Catchpole, for he hadn't seen his father and mother in what felt like ages, nor his two youngest siblings, who were as of yet too small to join him at school. The mere thought of the antics the great, big lot of them would get up to once reunited was capable of bringing a grin to his face.

But better than all of these things was the contents of the envelope he had found on his bed, addressed to him from a Ravenclaw girl a year above him whom he knew by name and sight, though not very well. It spoke of a prank-one so brilliant that he found his grip loosening on the paper as he read on, unable to bite back the laughter.

Sure enough, it wasn't long after he arrived when chaos began to break out. Overwhelmed by curiosity, Finn took a mug of pumpkin juice in his hands and, with a low chuckle and a muttered, "Right-well, bottom's up then!", he downed its contents.

The change came over him slowly at first-so slowly, in fact, that his brow furrowed in consternation, certain that something had gone wrong-when he felt it-or rather them-for soft, fuzzy dog ears had sprouted from the crown of his head, flopping every which way as he shook his head in gratified wonderment.

"Some potion." he remarked-grudgingly impressed-to a blonde nearby who seemed to be sporting a new pair of elephant ears.

Judy's lip twitched as she watched the chaos engulf the hall. One of her table mates grew elephants ears and she raised her hand up to her mouth to smoother a giggle. She'd always thought Blanche Chaucer probably deserved to have some chaos in her life.

The cherry on the cake was the Headmaster as he turned a particularly beautiful of orange. This was turning out better than she ever could have hoped. She tentatively shot a glance at one of her co-pranksters. It had been some time since she had worked with other people and now she felt it was worth it if team work could create such havoc. She wanted to share the joke with somebody. She carefully avoided the juice and reached for something she knew hadn't been touched by their quick fingers.... though it had occurred to her that it might be fun to have animal ears for a while.

She was not the sole victim in this. People all over the hall were sprouting animal ears or sporting garish-coloured skin and hair. Still, Blanche was a little upset, especially when all everyone else was trying to do rather than help get rid of them was stifle their peals of laughter.

"Some potion?" She repeated to the boy from Hufflepuff who sat at the table beside Ravenclaw's in disbelief. Some potion? He sounded impressed. "Dog ears?" She exclaimed the next minute, jerking round to watch the boy's head sprout fuzzy ears. "Well - they're alright!" She concluded. They were almost cute. How she had wound up with blasted elephant ears when she would have been quite happy with a rabbit's or with her hair turning purple like Cassius Lestrange's, she did not know.

Turning back to the table, and praying this would not be the one event in her life she was remembered for, silently pleading that she would not become 'the girl with the elephant ears', seemingly ready to be shipped off right to the rest of the freaks at the coming carnival show, her fingers tightly crossed in the hope that all this would eventually be forgotten. And if not...

"At least I don't have a trunk," She admitted to the world at large, searching for the bright side. She found the ears more bearable when she kept her head as still as possible, though even then they were waving gently, agonising the neighbouring students more than she herself. She took a deep breath or two, grateful to have her own nose, and ready to calm down. A glance up at the orange headmaster had a smile creeping onto her face, so for a moment she was not panicking that the ears would never disappear. Who was behind this, anyway?

The orange headmaster stood deliberately at the head table, looking out across the student body. "Enough of this. Everyone who has been effected by this tampering line up and head to the hospital wing for antidotes. Prefects, take your houses in hand."

He paused then, looking briefly down at his bright carrot-colored skin. "Those responsible will be caught and punished." With that, he turned and headed to the Hospital Wing himself. He didn't trust the skills of any of the students and needed to be sure he had not been poisoned.

OOC: Unless you really don't want them caught for some reason, the perpetrators will all get letters over the summer saying they're receiving a month's worth of detention at the beginning of the next school year. Have fun with that, lots of stuff can be done with it. ;)

'A trunk would've been a good idea though it would probably take a little more effort and planning' Judy thought as she reached for the pumpkin juice thinking to herself 'aww what the hell.' She took a sip and felt her ears slip and shift so that they replaced themselves and she moved her hands up to the side of her head to investigate. Fox ears maybe? That would've been exciting. Or perhaps they were cats or dogs.... She grinned around at everybody enthused until she realised that her boorish headmaster had ruined their fun again.

"Typical Phineas Black." She muttered and stretched. It wasn't like the potions were permanent or damaging. Just fun and he had to ruin it. How Boring.

    This. Was. Hilarious.
Tybalt was having real trouble not shaking from laughter, though it was hard to tell whether his hands upon the edge of the long house table were helping or hindering its stability, the jug of juice nearest him teetering a little. Luckily - in Tybalt's opinion - he had already joined the fun (and hopefully waived suspicions of blame from himself) by gulping down a bit of that and watching his skin turn a bright shade of blue. Nowhere near as garish as the orange of ridiculous Headmaster Black, but Ty thought he may as well get his hair colour changed to match, so a few moments after that his hair was a yellow beacon. Being blonde really didn't suit him, he decided, snickering as he surveyed himself in some silverware, though what proved more fun was watching the reactions of all the unsuspecting students fly into little tantrums. Marvellous. Downright marvellous.

He tried specifically not to catch his fellow pranksters' eyes as the headmaster called a halt to the chaos and threatened punishment. Pshaw, punishment! With summer on the way, punishment was hardly a pinprick of discomfort. And perhaps he wouldn't even get caught. (Of course, if he did, a detention would be a small price to pay.)

Cash stifled a grin in his hand, twirling a piece of purple hair around his fingers. This was great, really. He actually let a tiny laugh escape when Judy grew her furry ears, pretending to find his sleeve suddenly fascinating. This was great. The was easily one of the best things he had ever done.

Phineas threatened punishment, Cash ignored it for reasons that were mostly his desire to stifle anxiety. He watched the headmaster leave before his shoulders started shaking again, slumping over on the table and pretending he was tired rather than laughing his ass off.

Once he had regained control, he flounced off to get his hair de-purpled. Excellent.
