Harvey was, well confused. He'd heard about the good news from Elsie that Bentley and Winnie were officially engaged but also that Bentley had been drafted into this Hogsmeade Expansion expedition. Harvey had been able to scrounge up a Prophet and read about the expansion project and he had to admit it seemed kind of interesting. Of course he was not old enough to go himself and he could see why, from Elsie's reckoning anyway, as to why Bentley was not excited to go. It would be good for him, spice up his life a little bit. Besides, from what he'd heard there were pretty good rewards for the trip were pretty good as well.
While Elsie was concerned with their brother's welfare, Harvey was of the impression he would be fine. His sister was preoccupied with a lot of things, like worrying about Bentley and OWL's but Harvey had little to dwell. The end of fourth year was nothing terribly exciting really. They only had their normal end of the year exams and he was fully prepared to take them, though they had been buried in essays lately and he still had a couple to finish up.
This time of year in school always felt silly to him. They had so little time left that they weren't learning anything new, just reviewing previous lessons from the year. It was rather boring actually. Harvey looked forward to getting out of school just as much as the next kid, but he loathed the useless last few weeks of school.
No doubt today would be any different. He sat at the Hufflepuff table for breakfast preoccupied by his own thoughts, his robes and books on the bench beside him as it was too hot to have them on at the moment. Pushing his fruit around his plate absentmindedly, he stared up at the walls, out the large windows and up at the enchanted ceiling. It wasn't until somebody sat down near him that he brought himself out of his reverie. "Oh, hello Loretta." He smiled at his housemate, stuffing a piece of melon into his mouth. "How're you today?" He asked after swallowing.

Loretta was, most certainly, not confused. As far as she knew it she knew exactly what was going on. Somebody was out to get her family and there was nothing she could do about it. The morning of the sixteenth she'd had to bid farewell to Calliope (who she was frankly happy to not have to put up with during the holidays), and her older twin siblings. She knew that whilst she was at Hogwarts she hadn't seen Di as much as she had wanted to but she knew she'd miss her presence sorely when they returned home for the holidays.
She knew that when she returned home for the holidays it was going to be a very empty house. There would be her, her parents and Prue. She wondered what she'd do - last year she'd made a bet with herself to read every printed word in the house (she'd certainly found some very interesting reading material) but this year she had a feeling that she'd be expected to look after Prue and get ready for her OWLs. She'd probably have to go visit Chastity and make nice with Sampsons wife... and she could always visit Ismene... and the other forth year Puffs...
Her feet carried her automatically to the breakfast hall and she sat down almost mechanically and reached out for a piece of fruit. She jumped almost a foot when she realised that she'd absent sat almost right beside Harvey. She would like there to be an excuse to see Harvey over the summer. She shoved that thought aside. She didn't like Harvey that way she was sure. She couldn't like him afterall it was like Issie said. She was too old for him, and he was not even a proper man yet and even worse a second son. Granted, Issie had been talking about the match of Ceridwyn Bordeaux and Andren Lovegood but Loretta could see the argument applying doubly so with Harvey. Andren at least was of the upper class. She could not like him or think of him that way and that was that.
"I'mgood." She said quickly and looked down into her lap wishing fervently that she had looked before she had sat or at the very least seek comfort by hiding behind something or sticking her nose in a book. She was bound to do something very embarrassing and he'd forever remember it.

Perfectly used to Loretta's behavior by now, as it was much like Elsie's, Harvey just continued to eat his breakfast, piling more eggs and another couple pieces of toast on his plat, loading them with jam. He'd been eating an exorbitant amount of food lately. He sincerely hoped he was growing. Harvey was bound to pass Bentley in height, or at least that what he thought. The reality of it was another matter entirely.
"Looking forward to summer?" He questioned absentmindedly, trying to distract himself from his own thoughts. He was sure his summer would be rather uneventful. He hoped his dad would make an appearance at least. Vincent Beauregard was a busy, busy man, making his life as a merchant and while his love for his family was always felt, he felt the need to provide for them, so he was always working.
"Have no idea what we're doing." He mentioned before she could answer. He supposed that he should have waited for an answer from her, it would have been polite, but Harvey had never been overly good with his manners and Loretta was often very quiet, so he figured to keep the conversation going, he'd have to do most of the talking.
Pausing now to eat a slice of bacon, he looked over at his housemate and wondered just what she was thinking. He often wondered that about people, though with his roommates it was easy to know. They weren't exactly difficult creatures to interpret. Of course, this time of year most kids were thinking about summer and being away from school.

Twitchy was one word that could describe her at that very moment. She felt twitchy and overly paranoid but mostly just twitchy. She needed to get a hold on herself before she fainted or hyper-ventilated. He would most certainly think she was weird if that happened.
She bit her lip and looked down at her lap and tried to regain herself, and self control - probably one of the only most useful thing she had ever learned in Etiquette lessons. She couldn't let her own thoughts, also about the summer pour forth from her mouth in the unintelligent jumble that they'd been in her head. She let out her breath - a breath she hadn't realised she'd been holding and stared at the breakfast table. 'I am?' sounded a bit short, and 'I'm probably going to be visiting my sister Chastity' sounded a bit boring as did 'I don't think so... now that all my older siblings are out of the house I'm probably going to have to look after Pruedence...' sounded... well, it sounded a bit depressing.
"Oh?" She asked, and she swallowed. This was her chance she just had... well to be brave. She had to be brave and courageous. She just had to suggest that perhaps if there was a festival this year they could meet? Well not they but maybe all the forth year Puffs... or maybe go shopping... or somewhere else. She wondered if perhaps there was going to be a Quidditch game ~ they could go watch that and it wouldn't seem too far fetched. Harvey was friends with Andren who played and she might be able to talk Ismene into going because it was Quidditch.
She took a deep breath and failed and the words stuck in her throat, all that came out was a weak "Uh..." She fumbled at tried to add more to her sentence and looking around hopelessly one thing caught in her mind.
"Can you pass the toast?" She hated herself as soon as she said that. It sounded so stupid and had nothing to do at all with festivals or plans for the holidays. He was going to think that she hadn't been listening.

Harvey almost laughed, though caught himself, when he got a very simple, one-word answer from Loretta. He supposed he should have been used to it by now. They'd been housemates and classmates for four years now and he knew she was quiet. Why she was so quiet was a mystery, but Harvey hadn't put much thought into it either. Even in a group she was quiet. Their study session had been loud and fun, the fourth year Puffs often hung out together and he liked it that way. In those situations he had the opposite problem that Loretta did; it was getting him to shut up that was the trick, or at least that was what Adella always said. Elsie just said he was a bit of an open book, if he was thinking something, he was likely to share it. Harvey preferred Elsie's version.
"Sure." He said, again resisting the urge to chuckle and obliged by handing over the small platter of toast. He was still nibbling on his bacon thoughtfully, pondering what else he could use for a topic starter. Then again, if he weren't the talkative guy that he was, he would leave the poor girl alone and let her eat her breakfast in peace. Too bad he wasn't. He rather assumed she was quite used to him by now too.
"We should make plans with everybody to get together somehow." He mused aloud. He, Andren and Finn always had a good time, but he didn't altogether mind hanging out with Issie, Ceri and Loretta either. In his opinion, it was always the more the merrier. Of course, being middle class, Harvey would not be invited to all of the same social functions as Finn or Andren, but that didn't mean that they couldn't get together in the park or something, or arrange to meet at the Three Broomsticks one afternoon. Harvey would loathe not seeing his friends all summer. He loved his family, really he did, but with the twins getting ready to head to school, Bentley and Winnie preparing for a wedding in future and Della working, he would need an escape of sometime. "A trip to the Broomsticks or Honeydukes or something." He suggested, hoping it would inspire a better conversation after his last failed attempt.

Harvey Beauregard who Loretta was sure was accomplished in many many ways had to be psychic. There was no other explanation to the fact that he'd been able to pick out exactly what she'd been thinking. She knew that she shouldn't be thanking her lucky stars that he'd been the one to suggest it and the topic hadn't passed her by. She nodded in reply and then looked down at her hands and took a deep breath.
Harvey wasn't a troll, he was human. Human and fine. There was no reason she should be feeling this nervous....unless he was really psychic and then he could hear her thoughts. The thought itself was terrifying and she wondered if she should simply think thoughts at him to see if he was... but if he could hear her thoughts wouldn't he be hearing exactly what she was thinking right now? She buryied her thumbnail into her sskirts until she felt the flesh of her thigh and pinched herself. 'CALM DOWN' She thought to herself and gave Harvey a grin, hoping that he still hadn't noticed how wierd she was.
"We could meet up at the festival, I did that last year with a bunch of people..." She remembered last years festival clearly. She'd gone with Gideon, Odira and Prue in an attempt to escape Chastity's marriage plans. Prue had come home dragon mad and wouldn't talk about anything but for weeks. She still had a dream about becoming a dragon keeper which Loretta hoped she'd grow out of. Dragons were dangerous and whilst she wasn't as close to her baby sister as she was to Odira she still loved her and would hate for anything to happen to her. The thing with the Goblin kidnapping had been horrible enough. Loretta had no idea what it would be like when it came to dragons. She didn't know how the MacFusty's did it.
If she were them she'd be constantly paranoid about becoming food, or where to stand. She couldn't even remember if they had to stand in front of dragons or behind them.... though to be honest she didn't know much about magical creatures in general. She took Divination and Ancient Runes.

Oh! More than a couple words! It seemed he had hit a good topic to discuss. "The festival sounds like a good idea." He agreed. The carnival that came into town every year was always a good time. Of course they always went as a family, but maybe once Bentley got home from the trail, he could take Harvey without all of the family. He enjoyed spending time with his siblings and mother (his father always absent from such events), but it would be so great to just be able to go with friends and fool around. With is family he either had to keep an eye on Owen, or mind his manners in front of his mother, neither of which he could do for very long. If Bentley took him, his brother would most likely disappear for a little while, maybe with Winnie and then find him later so Harvey would be left up to his own devices.
"I always enjoy the festival." He admitted freely. It was an interesting place for sure. Between the side shows and main attractions it was easy to get sucked into all of the different people, sights and smells. It was very intriguing to say the least. Not to mention with Finn and Andren along with him, lots of places to cause or get into trouble. Harvey was a nuisance by nature, or at last that's what Bentley had said when he was younger, before the twins came along. He was constantly getting into things, curious to know how things worked and whatnot. Sometimes it was a wonder that while he and Elsie had such Ravenclaw tendencies, neither one of them had ended up there. Apparently their actual house qualities outweighed those tendencies.
"The acrobats are my favorite." He said, trying to ease her into a conversation about the festival. "It's almost like flying, but without a broom!" How they did it was beyond him. Harvey had fair control over a broom, but to attempt what those people did with no support was truly amazing. He would not be able to even attempt it. Harvey was not afraid of heights, but he always knew he had his broom to support him. In any other case, he probably would be terrified. Though he would never admit to that.

Loretta stared at him dazed and blinking for a moment as Harvey seemed to pick up on that one conversation starter and work with it. She couldn't help but feel jealous of that ability. It would make things easier....
Then he'd said something about acrobats... and how they... flew was it? Like people on brooms... She continued to stare at him trying to understand whether he was being serious. She couldn't tell at all whether he honestly liked them because they seemed to fly just without brooms.... and he'd said that they were his favourite? The image appeared, almost like it had been conjured of Harvey up on a trapeze in circus uniform launching himself into the air to be caught by a similiarly dressed Andren.
She felt the giggle stir in the base of her stomach and quickly covered her mouth to smother it, hopelessly. It was lucky that she hadn't anything in her mouth (which would have been very embarrassing and quite disastrous) because she choked on the giggle. It did nothing to abate her situation and pretty soon she realised the quick spurt of -innocent- laughter may not have seemed such to Harvey. He could've thought she was laughing at him. She tried to recover herself and put her hand to her mouth - as if it would help.
"I like watching dancers and actors." She said behind her hand though the image of Harvey doing somersaults in the air still threatened to make her start giggle again. She knew she'd never see such an image in real life. Harvey was too respectable.
Her face fell for an instant as she repeated the sentence again over in her mind. She was envious of those talented women who seemed so graceful and at ease on their feet to the point that she almost wished she could do even half of what they could do... though neither dancers and actors had good reputations. She knew there was also burlesque dancers but she hoped that Harvey hadn't seen their performances yet.
They wore hardly no clothes at all and their dances were... well Loretta knew they weren't good either.

Hmmm, Harvey wasn't sure he'd ever been to see the dancers or actors unless they were included in the big tent show. He always made a point to see the animals and some of the sideshow attractions and of course the acrobats, but he had never taken much interest in the dancers. Perhaps if he thought like a normal teenage boy he would investigate further, but he didn't, so it was of no interest to him.
Loretta looked as if she was going to laugh at him and he could only imagine why. "I think it will be fun, as always." The festival was the best entertainment the summer had to offer. Otherwise Harvey was sure he'd be bored. The only other option, which he was sure would happen as well, was that he Finn and Andren could get into trouble somehow. It was bound to happen, but those fourth year Hufflepuffs together and chaos was bound to occur somehow. Put those boys together and nothing good was going to come of it. It was like the instant you put them in the same room their ability to obey the rules went straight out the window. It was a miracle they hadn't been given detention more often.
"We really should make an effort to get together, everybody, sometime this summer." The fourth year Puffs were a close group. Of course the boys were like a goon squad and the girls all seemed to be good friends and they all managed to hang out together rather successfully even though there were quite a few of them. Somehow, no matter which combination of them got together, it always seemed to be a good time.
"I know you girls will have parties and things like that, but it would still be fun." The only reason he knew the girls would have parties was because of Adella. She seemed to be constantly going to parties or events of some kind. Something about being 'the season', whatever that meant... Well again Harvey knew what it meant, his mother spoke about it often for both Elsie and Adella and would for Lottie when she was that age. Something about finding a husband et cetera, yadda, yadda, yadda, he tuned out after a while because it didn't apply to him. All he had to worry about was Bentley's wedding and whenever that would take place. It would be fun, small most likely, just the family and a few close friends. It seemed that Della was more excited about the wedding that Bentley was, but that was to be expected he supposed.

He didn't notice her slip this time either, or perhaps, just perhaps he decided to gracefully ignore it. He was that sort of person after all. He was somebody kind and often willing to ignore or perhaps forgive the mistakes that others made. Its what she, and she supposed others, liked about him. His kind forgiving nature. She almost lost herself to her delusions when she blinked, hearing his words.
He was right, they really should make an effort to get together over the summer... at the very least at the carnival.
"I think I can get Ismene to come along," She whispered after a pause while she thought it through. Issie had gotten over her crush on Andren quickly enough, especially after they'd heard about him and Ceri. He was too young to be making a life choice with somebody his own age (Loretta had struggled with not wanting to point out that several weeks earlier Issie had been dreaming of the same thing), and now her friends attentions had strayed further afield. She wondered if it would be kind, or mean to her friend if she asked Harvey if they could engineer a meeting between Ismene and the current object of her affections. Harvey was on the Quidditch Team afterall and he might be willing to help her out. If she could just find a way to talk about it... to calm her thoughts so she wasn't such a nervous wreak. She had never wished to be like Calliope before... Odira, yes, Gideon, yes, and sometimes yes even to her beautiful sister Chastity but now she did. Calliope wouldn't have shied away like this. Calliope... well... Calliope got things done.
All she had to do was say it.
"We could meet at the carnival if you can get Andren to come along too." Curses.

"Oh, I'm sure Andren will come along." Harvey replied without much thought. He and Andren had a long running history of misbehavior at the carnival, it really was a wonder they were still allowed in. Honestly, those people were thick. Still, it worked out well for them as Harvey still enjoyed going. Sure it would be fun a big group of them could be even more fun, that way they might not need a chaperon too. Though, they were starting to get the age where the girls would have to have chaperons and that was just annoying. Harvey sometimes hated propriety, it always got in the way of having a good time.
"Maybe I could actually get Elsie out of the house too." He mused, thinking it would be good for Els to actually interact with people. His sister was far too much of a recluse for her own good. It was really strange how out of all of the siblings, who in his opinion were all quite social, Elsie was so not. Even Bentley had lots of friends and he hardly made an effort. Sometimes his eldest brother could be seriously antisocial, like he had been the last few months. He had a lot going on though so Harvey hadn't been bugging him.
Thinking it might be best if he headed off to class, Harvey looked down a the pile and realized he grabbed the wrong books. "Sorry Loretta, left my book in my room, I've got to run up there and get it before class." Sometimes he was such a scatterbrain. Draining his orange juice, Harvey stood from the bench and grabbed the ones he did have. "Let's owl about the festival." He said over his shoulder, pausing before he got too far. "Save me a seat in class!" He waved before speeding up to get out of the Great Hall. If he was lucky he would just make it in time.

"Oh... okay..." She said trailing off as she watched him go... hoping that he knew what she'd meant. He was going to write to her? Her....well she was okay with that... and she was okay with the fact that they'd be could be meeting over the holidays. And she was okay with the fact that his elder sister may be coming and she was okay with the fact that she was going to save him a seat. Maybe? She wondered if she'd done something to scare him off, what with the speed that he disappeared.
She looked down at her shaking hand and steadied herself as she tried to at least have a decent breakfast before class
